Question: Dermabrasion? I have mild acne around my chin and cheek area. I also have a lot of scaring. I was wondering if dermabrasion will help or just make my acne worse. has anyone tried it?

Answer: I used dermabrasion in high school. It definitely got rid of all the scarring i had from acne in middle school. It doesn't feel that good to get it done, and your face is red for a day afterwards, but the results are phenomenal.

Answer: I think its fine for a 15 year old talk with the doc and your parents because you will have to have parental consent, I have had one it makes your face very smooth and if you have oily skin like I do it kind of controls it I have no acne but I hear its great for acne as for acne scars you may need something a little stronger or a chemical peel (cheaper), get a consult they usually do it free. The price is around $1000 per session unless you get a package deal... Maybe you should try something less invasive... Good Luck

Question: Can dermabrasion and laser treatments get rid of stretch marks? I gained weight recently and developed horrendous, ugly stretch marks on my bottom, hips, and inner thighs. They really bother me and I want to get rid of them (no words of consolation can make me like them more). Do dermabrasion and laser treatments work?

Answer: Laser treatment can help, but dermabrasion won't do a thing. With laser, the light beam stimulates the collagen underneath the skin which kind of plumps up the gap caused by the stretched skin, and tightens that gap up a little bit. Pulse dye lasers work well on lighter stretch marks, while other types of lasers heat up the reddened or brownish marks and make them lighten, but they still work by stimulating the collagen. It's expensive, but if you are really bothered, it would be worth it. There's usually no charge for a consultation, either. Just ask around your community for referrals to good laser clinics. Question: Are there added risks in doing a dermabrasion procedure on your face versus a microdermabrasion procedure? Will your face look scalped and unnatural if you get a dermabrasion procedure? Will the dermabrasion procedure make your skin look much more clear (getting rid of acne scars) than the microdermabrasion procedure?

Answer: Yes there are. Dermabrasion is a much more intense procedure than microdermabraion. And I don't think any facial procedures help in clearing skin in the long run. They may help initially, but the acne problem will usually come back if you haven't gotten to the root of the problem. Question: what is a good micro dermabrasion cream? I bought the Neutrogena kit and it seemed great but the next day I had a break out, and the next day another one. They were quit large. Is this because of the cream or does doing micro dermabrasion bring all the impurities out? I am afraid to do it again in fear of another breakout. What is a good cream to use?

Answer: Try your favorite moisturizer and a teaspoon of salt or sugar or even finer, baking soda.

Question: Can I get a tattoo after a chemical peel or dermabrasion? I plan on getting a tattoo on my upper back, but have acne and taking a treatment for it to finally go away. I am positive that I have a few scars back there from the acne. I've heard that its hard to tattoo with scars. So i thought about getting a chemical peel or some dermabrasion to remove the scaring and eventually getting the tattoo. Is this a good idea or an extremely stupid one. Answer: Microdermabrasion is not going to get rid of acne scarring...don't waste your money. Chemical peels are pretty much going to deliver the same results unless they are very heavy medical grade and you risk other problems like hypopigmentation. There is far more down time on that than a month to wait for a tattoo. The same with laser resurfacing. Talk to a dermatologist if you really want to consider altering your skin before the tattoo. There is no problem tattooing over acne scars.

Answer: you should be at least 18 o that all the hormonal changes that occur earlier in life are over. the way your skin heals after the microderma session depends on hormones, that's why it's so important.

Answer: If you have any acne scarring at all you will benefit from the effects of microdermabrasion and chemical peels. Crystal-free microdermabrasion machines (diamond tip), I feel, provide much better results than the crystal-based machines for many reasons. Technically, you can have a microdermabrasion procedure performed every ten days because the stratum corneum (top dead layer of skin) rejuvenates itself after only a few days. Dermabrasion is a very deep surgical process of removing skin. This is something you definitely don't need or want!

Answer: Get plenty of sleep! They don't call it "beauty-sleep" for nothing! Dab garlic juice on emerging and mature pimples Treat acne with benzoyl peroxide that is available in your local stores Disguise a pimple with eye-redness relieve eye drops by applying to a Q-tip and hold on pimple for about 10-15 seconds. Mix a packet of fast acting yeast with enough tea tree oil to make a paste. Spread over emerging pimple and cover with bandage & leave on overnight because yeast will cause the pimples to rise out of the skin while the tea tree oil attacks it. Go to the store and get Cortizone 10.It will help stop acne. Soak a cotton ball in warm salt water. Press on top of blemish for 3 minutes to dissolve the top. Then, dab a bit of honey on the affected area to deep clean the pore and draw out bacteria. Let it sit for 10 minutes. One thing you should do is change your pillow case(s) every day. They simple exfoliate and get rid of all the dead skin cells still lying on the surface. Im 22 and have genetically really good skin already. Answer: Micro dermabrasion is for exfoliating and getting rid of blemishes. Facial scrub is just for exfoliating. You probably have really good skin and only need to use facial scrub 2 times a week. Micro derm is for people how have had really bad acne and need to improve their skin. Save you money and what til you need it.

Answer: Simple answer, a BIG NO, would not recommend it as it will actually cause you more problems. I happen to work with a rosacea expert and have it myself. If you are looking for treatment beyond skin care & meds, IPL and some of the other laser treatments to combat the underlying vascular disorder will actually help you smooth out your skin, redness and other annoying symptoms. See a specialist who has treated rosacea patients sucessfully. Ask for referances. With rosacea you do not want to do anything that agitates the skin, hot water, chemical peals, fruit acids, scrubs etc. it will only in the long run make your breakouts worse.

Answer: Depends what sort of microdermabrasion machine/treatment you had, microdermabrasion machine is a vacuumed pumped machine which exfoliates the skin deeply with crystals this can go as far as the dermis with different settings which is very deep!!! I find it hard to believe you got the same results from a basic blinking scrub mate

Answer: eek, usually about a week sometimes more depending on how sensative your skin is. if you do go outside, wear lots of sunblock otherwise that new skin will get burned easily.

I've been having bad acne lately and it's leaving red marks instead of completely healing, and in places it feels kind of flaky, so I want to take off all the dead skin then go to a gentle system to let my skin recover. However, I can't afford to get it done for real. Would that work?

Answer: Don't use the wave. Its a piece of crap. Get a nice electric toothbrush and use it with your salt scrub because it actually moves to massage the skin instead of just vibrating. The toothbrush will get deep into your pores and clean off all the dead skin while the wave will vibrate and not do much other than feel cool on your face.

Answer: usually health insurance doesn't cover it. I got a bonus of 1500 dollars from work and used it toward treatments for my face. I paid 1200 dollars cash and got 3 photofacial treatments along with microdermabrasions before each one. Along with chemical peels. they will work with you. they helped me out alot. but i did pay alot but got a lot in return with their generosity to me and my problems. they were great. i went to perfect skin center in mesa arizona. :)
