Asian Blepharoplasty
Eyelid surgery to decrease upper eyelid fullness and reduce the epicanthal fold that is common in Asians
Question: Asian blepharoplasty? I am 17 and have been considering for some time whether to get eyelid surgery because I have very small eyes. If anyone has got this surgery done or know someone who has had it done, please could you give me details about it? It would be best if you are Asian or you probably would not understand. And PLEASE dont give me that mumbo-jumbo about accepting myslef for who I am because I dont want to hear it. I know what I want thank you very much. I just want an honest account of what eyelid surgery is like and also where it is the cheapest. Thank you in advance!
Answer: Thanks for the LOL.
Question: bleeding inside the eyeball after asian blepharoplasty? I just got the procedure done yesterday and it was fine, until today I see a little blood inside my eyeball around the outer corners. Is this normal and will it go away?
Answer: The blood clot can be dried up by using one dose of Arnica 30. Homeo Medicines should be used in consultation with homeopathic doctor.
Question: Percentage of failure in Asian Blepharoplasty (Double Eyelid Surgery)? I want to know the percentage of failure of blepharoplasty surgery, because I am thinking about getting it done.
Answer: Please don't risk it. I'm sure you're beautiful the way you are.
Question: Can Far East Asian people see better after having a Blepharoplasty? Not to say they don't see well now at all, but does their field of vision widen?
Answer: Nope, my ancestry is Chinese and I've been near sighted since I was 20 years old.
Question: ONLY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE HAD: Asian Blepharoplasty / Double Eyelid Surgery Before...? I've been reading a lot of responses to this topic on Asian Blepharoplasty / double eyelid surgery and I would appreciate answers only from people who've had this procedure done before because I've noticed people who have never had it done before or who do not condone it, have a tendency to say, "Don't do it," or "You look great just the way you are." So here's my story:
My mom naturally has double eyelids, but my father does not so I ended up being born with one eye with and one eye without (trust me I looked a little funny before). So I had this procedure done about 10 years ago when I was about 18 years old and after a few months of healing, the results were amazing. People kept complimenting me and telling me how great I looked and my eyes were so sparkly and pretty when I smile. I didn't regret having the surgery at all because my doctor (who is a female) sounded like she knew what she was doing (and someone recommended her to me). And not only were my eyes even now, but they looked better than before and I felt very confident about the overall results!
NOW FAST FORWARD 10 YEARS LATER.....
My eyes do not look the same anymore. I mean they look normal still, but when you are 28 going on 30 any day now, your eyes - as well as your entire face / body - start to change. My eyes have always been naturally deeper than most Asian women's - and that's one of my lucky features to be born with - but the problem is, now that I am getting older, they have deepened even more, causing my double eyelid crease to somewhat disappear on my right eye. And get this, when I wake-up in the morning (after sleeping for 8 hours), they look normal, but as the hours pass throughout the day, they get deeper and the crease, again, almost disappears. Also, my eyelids seem to be drier than before. As for my left eyelid, it has not disappeared - yet - but there is some drooping starting to appear. So my question is, does anyone out there, who has had this procedure done before, also suffer from these similar results years later? And if so, what have you done to fix it? Do you just live with these results for the rest of your life? Or have you decided to go back and get it done again, but this time, have a different procedure done to improve the lackluster appearance.
I have already spoken to one cosmetic surgeon and he said it was not that bad, but if I wanted to get it done, it would be up to me. He even suggested I take some fat out of my belly button and add it to my eyelids so it will not be that dry. I have also made other appointments to see other surgeons and get their opinions on this matter as well. I am seriously thinking about getting this surgery done again, so my right eyelid will return back to it's first surgery appearance or perhaps even better. I'm not really mad at my first doctor, but I think she could have done a better job the first time around. My confidence at the moment is not very high because of this and I wish this wouldn't bother me, but it just does. Thanks for the advice and good luck to the best answer!
Answer: im sorry, i havent the surgery, but i feel if you did your research and you feel this is right for you then go for it
Question: Asian Blepharoplasty Cost in China? I will be going back to China this month and wondering how much the surgery will cost. My mom got hers for free and my other cousin just recently got hers for like $100 somewhere.
But the thing is I want to get mine at a notable hospital somewhere in Wu Han or Xing Tao. Can anyone recommend me a hospital from one of these two places?
Also, my mom said my eyes would get swollen for a week after the surgery. Is this true? If so, how swollen? I really want to get the surgery before meeting my grandparents.
Answer: I did find a world map with costs of eyelid surgery at
http://www.realself.com/Eyelid-Surgery/c…
But it has no costs for China
http://www.eastplasticsurgery.com/eyelid…
is a Shanghai based company that offers this service, so I guess you can emote them for a quote but the odds are it will cost more than $100.
There is the Zhong Aomei Plastic Surgery a WuHan but I do not have a link for it.
As for your eyes being swollen yes, it wil happen you have surgery on them and most of the sites say wear sunglasses to 7-14 days.
Question: asian blepharoplasty? how much is it in california? please, i want one really bad!
Answer: You would get a more accurate answer by directly calling doctors that perform such surgeries.
Question: What's your opinion on Asian double eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)? It's the surgery that creates a crease in the eyelid. I'd prefer to hear from fellow Asians, especially if you've had the procedure, but I'd welcome input from anyone.
Answer: In my opinion, it is the only way to escape from a typical Asian physical appearance. I also wouldn't get the eyelid surgery; I mean what difference does it make? Even though people always tease me about my Asian eyes, I just wouldn't care at all.
Just be proud of what you have! :)
Question: Is there a way to un-do Asian Blepharoplasty (double eyelid surgery)? If the results of double eyelid surgery were very unsatisfactory, can the effects be undone? Does it require surgery or can it be self-inflicted? Will the results return eyes back to original form?
Shan: What do you mean if they cut it - no but if stitching - yes??? Cut what? I had stitches does that mean it can be undone???
Answer: if they had cut it, prob not. but if it was done by stitching, then yes
Question: Asian Blepharoplasty / Double Eye lid surgery question? Hi well i was thinking about getting the double eyelid surgery.
Im korean, and i don't have a double fold and im in korea right now and my aunts are insisting that i should get the surgery since most got it done here anyways. I really do want to get the surgery but im just scared of the procedures O_O
so if anyone who has got the surgery previously done can you please explain the steps they did ?
i heard that they take a needle and numb your eyes?!?
so please loool can you explain to me what they do during the surgery and how many days or weeks it will take to heal lol
thanks :]
Answer: I've never had it done, but OUCH. Is it really worth it? Your eyes are probably gorgeous as they are.
Question: What's your opinion on asian double lid surgery (blepharoplasty)? Basically it's the surgery where asians get an incision in their eyelids that heal up into double eyelids so they have a crease. My mom one day told me she could take me to get it done soon if i wanted.
My mom has natural double lids and a crease. But my face is more like, a carbon copy of my dads, whos eyelids have /so/ much fat in them that he had to get this surgery at age 20 because his eyelid pushed his lashes into his cornea.
I just hate how annoying it is to put eyeliner on upper eyelids too.
But when I told my friend (who frequently made fun of me for my tiny eyes (they are very tiny. even for an asian)) i was considering it, she told me she saw no point in it and that my eyes were pretty. now suddenly im not so sure
Answer: You may have provided us with a photo . I had blepharoplasty and I my eyes look beautiful for me. I am satisfied with the appearance of my eyes. It all depends on you, if you like the way they are then leave them like that otherwise go and opt surgery. Never think what others are thinking about your eyes, just think about yourself.
Question: why do people think blepharoplasty patients want to look more westernized? Like Really? I've seen a news clip about this, and some people claim Asians try to make their eyes look like this through eyelid surgery because they want to look westernized/white/caucasian. I'm asian and I do have creases on my eyes but I dont think I look western so... why are some people out there always assuming other people want to be like them?
Answer: I completely see what you mean. I am Asian too, and it bugs me that it's fine when white women can tan their pale skin and black women can get weaves for their afro hair ... but when an Asian gets eyelid surgery it's suddenly racially motivated and must be because the woman wants to look more Westernised. It's ridiculous.
Most Asians don't have the surgery to look Westernised.. it's for easier makeup application, to lift the eye area to look more awake, and above all to look- therefore feel more attractive! Sure maybe there are a few women who are whitewashed and have it for the wrong reasons but not all Asians think like that... you know, I think the people who truly believe this statement are just ignorant and can't see the bigger picture.
You think it's racist Asians might wanna change the shape of their eyelids? Then why don't other races stop changing themselves too, stop having lipo, boob jobs, weaves and all of that? At the end of the day it's just a cosmetic procedure and on such a small part of the body too. Just the fact it is an ethnic feature being changed shouldn't matter. Asians are not hating on themselves just by trying to give themselves a confidence boost!!!
Sorry for the M A S S I V E rant. It just really gets my goat.
Question: hi does anyone know a good plastic surgeon in sf? Preferably a surgeon who specializes in Asian Blepharoplasty?
none of my friends have had plastic surgery done on their faces, so i'm sure asking them wouldn't be helpful. I need someone who has had plastic surgery to tell me and share me their experience and also to recommend me which doctor.
Answer: About the other person's answer, this is a travel question because the person wants the best result and isn't afraid to travel to get it.
The worst mistake that the person would make is to see a plastic surgeon. A plastic surgeon is better suited for liposuction of the stomach area or breast implants. What a person needs is an oculoplastic (eye plastic) surgeon, the specialty that deals with eyelids. One thing that separates the good surgeons from the others is if they do reconstructive eyelid surgery because those guys understand the muscles and other internal structures well enough to do reconstruction. Likewise, the regular plastic surgeons do reconstruction after breast cancer so they're the ones to go to for cosmetic breast surgery.
In addition to finding an eye plastic surgeon, you might consider one that is Asian because they may have more interests in doing Asian eye surgery and make you look like an Asian with a double eyelid, not an Asian that looks like a white person. There's a good eye plastic surgeon but he is in Seattle, not San Francisco. He wrote me a prescription last month for my eye problem and it really works! In addition, he didn't rush me out the door like an assembly line. I'm not sure if we're supposed to name specific names like --- M.D. or Joe's Coffee Shop or ABC Shoe Repair.
A little request; I'm trying to get some "best answer" awards. So far, I have 22 best answers. I try to give a great answer and appreciate recognition if you think this is a best answer!
Question: blepharoplasty questions? I am 17 Asian and im having a blepharoplasty surgery on the upper eyelid next monday and i would like to ask a few questions about it.
1.how are the going to numb my eye lid?
2.is it going to hurt after of the surgery?
3. am i going to be able to go back to school the next day?
Answer: Your eyelid will be numbed with an injection, much like novocaine at the dentist.
It may feel painful after the surgery, but it won't be really bad.
You probably won't go back to school the next day. Your lids will be all bruised and swollen.
Ask your doctor these questions and he will give you better answers.
Why are you getting a blepharoplasty at such a young age????
Question: Is $10,000 a reasonable cost for eyelid surgery? it seems like a lot. the surgery is a blepharoplasty for cosmetic reasons (asian double eyelid surgery). it takes 45 mins. is 10k reasonable or should i consult with another plastic surgeon?
Answer: My opinion is that you shouldn't get plastic surgery on your eyelids... but if you insist on doing it, 10k is too much. Get a second opinion, and consider going overseas for the procedure... 10,000 would pay for a nice long trip to Thailand as well as the surgery, with enough left over to do it twice more!
Question: does alot of koreans have double eyelided surgery? asian blepharoplasty seems to be popular with the chinese, koreans, and japanese.
Answer: Only if they are not content with the way they look. I would think, no they don't
Question: Blepharoplasty? If you have had eyelid surgery, what was your experience with it? Anything from the actual surgery to the pain after and the physical results.
Asian teens-young adults' experiences preferred.
(Don't want peoples' experiences who got it because they are elderly and did it cause they had saggy eyes no offense, just want it to relate to me)
I know what the surgery and procedure are...
I just want to know some personal experiences.
Answer: Elderly? I had my eye bags removed when I was 22!
If you want information about Asian eyelid surgery, I recommend you visit Dr Meronk's site. There's plenty of useful information there.
Question: Asian eye-lid surgery.? Does anyone know what the cosmetic does exactly when he performs a Blepharoplasty surgery?
*cosmetic doctor
Answer: Blepharoplasty usually takes one to three hours, depending on the extent of the surgery. If you're having all four eyelids done, the surgeon will probably work on the upper lids first, then the lower ones.
In a typical procedure, the surgeon makes incisions following the natural lines of your eyelids; in the creases of your upper lids, and just below the lashes in the lower lids. The incisions may extend into the crow's feet or laugh lines at the outer corners of your eyes. Working through these incisions, the surgeon separates the skin from underlying fatty tissue and muscle, removes excess fat, and often trims sagging skin and muscle. The incisions are then closed with very fine sutures.
If you have a pocket of fat beneath your lower eyelids but don't need to have any skin removed, your surgeon may perform a transconjunctival blepharoplasty. In this procedure the incision is made inside your lower eyelid, leaving no visible scar. It is usually performed on younger patients with thicker, more elastic skin
Question: How do i not sound shallow about my oriental features? I have the typical asian or korean eyes. No double eyelid and in about a year I'm getting the double eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty. I'm very open about it. But when i tell them I want it they ask me why I want to look more westernized or 'white'. I used to tell them that I only got them because it was a lacking. Everyone had it but me. I told them its as common as braces in korea but they still won't understand and they just think I'm shallow. how do i explain it to them?

Answer: Obviously it is your body and you should do whatever feels right to you and they will understand eventually or at least get past it if they are friends...having said that, though, I'm sure that your natural appearance is beautiful! Trust me, a lot of white girls would love to look that way, and if your Korean friends make you feel bad for not having done it yet then in my opinion you should question them, not the other way around. At least think long and hard about this. I was once scheduled to have a nose job and cancelled at the last minute, I'm so glad that I did. It was really my self perception that I wanted to change, not my features.
Question: Should I get Plastic Surgery? I'm a 15 year old Asian and I HATE MY FACE. My eye lids are droopy, my under eyes are too puffy, my skull is too round and large, my nose is too small and my cheeks are too big. I've never been happy in my life and I want to get a blepharoplasty(asian double eyelid surgery) so bad. Money is not the problem. The problem is that I have a huge fear over my life. I know the complications of plastic surgery are small, but I fear that if I get surgery then I might not wake up. AND I DON'T WANNA DIE!! I wanna LIVE okay? I wanna have a chance to be happy and smile and laugh and hang out with friends and stuff like that. But I know for a fact that if I dont get the surgery then I'm never going to be happy! I just want to stop worrying about my face all the time and smile in pictures and act all crazy in party pixes and not think "omg i'm so ugly i shouldn't make those facial expressions they make me look fat and ugly." I just want to be like everyone else, but I'm just SOOOOO scared of dying or if the plastic surgeon ruins my face! I plan on getting on of the best board certified surgeons in beverley hills. And also I have absolutely no health problems and I've never had any type of surgery before so I absolutely do not know if I will have a bad reaction and/or complications. So help me please! What should I do? I'm thinking if I get it I'll get it when I'm 17-18 years old. I'm scared of dying but I want to be happy.....
@ everyone that answered so far i know that u guys are saying that i should feel beautiful the way i am but i can't! no matter what i just can't! i look at myself in the mirror and i just think god i would look so much better if i just had a little nip or tuck...and unfortunately i can't be happy! i just have to get this surgery done! being happy is one of the 3 things in life that i strive for and i can't be happy without surgery! but im so scared for my life...
Answer: I know a lot of people that have had surgery and they are all alive and well . It would be a good idea if you wait until you are at least 18. Your face is fullyy developed now although your brain isn't until you are a few years older if you go into the surgery with a positive attitude and you are for sure you know your surgeon has consulted exactly what your expectations are you will be fine sweetie but iI bet you are beautiful regardless remember beauty is only skin deep I have seen documentaries on people that get 1 surgery then they want another and then another I guess it can get addictive. Be strong you can deal with it I just had a hysterectomy and I had confidence in my surgeon and I am okay, he did a great job
at least I think he did it has only been 2 weeks.
