Open Rhinoplasty
Surgery of the nose involving an incision at the base of the columella between the nostrils
Question: had open rhinoplasty one month ago and my nose still swollen/hurts? I had open rhinoplasty (nose job) a little over a month ago and i still think its pretty swollen. when ever i touch my nose it hurts really bad. (only at the tip) and when i slide my fingers down my nose it feels like it goes straight and then into a ball at the tip. is this normal? or does this just mean its really swollen?
Answer: You have just paid an ungodly amount of money for this procedure! Don't you think this question belongs in a conversation you might want to have with your doctor? I think you deserve at least that!
Question: I am having open rhinoplasty in few days and i am wondering how i will feel afterwards? My op is not for cosmetic reasons its because of problems with shape and breathing. I will also have a small piece of cartilage taken from my ribs to be placed in my nose. Thank you. X
Answer: you will be sore and a bit uncomfortable due to packing they put in your nose. The doctor will prescribe pain meds I'm sure to help you not feel the pain so much. Good luck and I wish you the best.
Question: What is the cost of Open Rhinoplasty Plastic Surgery ?
Answer: My mom wants that done as well. The last doc she saw wanted $3,500. It can either go higher or lower. just make sure that whoever you use is board certified and ask to speak to some of the past people that he/she has helped.
Question: anyone who has had open rhinoplasty please respond? I had it done on march 25 of this year and it was only to reduce my bulbus tip. It has been2 months and I dont see a big difference like i expected, people havent even noticed I dont know if that is a good thing or a bad thing. (I still feel numb on the tip but again I dont see a big change) Anyways should I expect more of a change in the shape or would this be my final outcome?
Answer: My daughter had her's done, and it kept changing for about a year and a half.
Be patient, you will have swelling for a year.
Question: Open Rhinoplasty: What is the recovery process like? Details please!
Thanks
Answer: Headache, sleeping in a chair, packing in the nose for a day or two. No worries, it will be worth it :). Get a good recliner for a weekend to sleep in.
Question: Swollen tip after nose job (open rhinoplasty) ? I got a nose job exactly 7 weeks ago, it was an open rhinoplasty, and the tip of my nose is STILL swollen compared to the rest of it. It looks like a little ball. I spoke to my surgeon about it and he says its gonna go away but I see no improvement from day to day. Is it gonna pass??? If so, then when???? I really dont like the way it look from the front or the side cause it just looks like i have a little hill/ball at the tip of my nose..
Answer: I think it's been too long, and this is serious enough for you to get a second opinion. It CAN be fixed, and the doctor who did the surgery should have no problem with you getting a second opinion. If the other doctor says it's time to fix it, your doctor should do it for free. (If you trust him.)
Best of luck to you, Janni. :)
Question: Waht is the cost of Open Rhinoplasty Plastic Surgery ?
Answer: Depends on the location, the doctor, and the type of insurance you have. Do they cover cosmetic surgery? If not, you can choose to
get a supplemental medical plan, see below. Good luck!
Question: Which parts of the nose swell after a rhinoplasty? I've had an open rhinoplasty recently and recently my cast has been removed. My whole nose is swollen and my nostrils look big although I'm not sure whether or not their size should be affected by the rhinoplasty. So is it normal for my nostrils to look big? The tip of my nose looks way smaller than my nostrils so I'm afraid the tip will get smaller and my nostrils will stay the same.
Answer: It is all going to swell. My wife had it done and basically just stayed inside and away from the public, to include friends for about a week. You have to expect some discomfort, but I say that word with tongue in cheek, because discomfort is something she felt weeks later if accidentally her nose got flicked or something. During that first week, you have pain, period. Give me a quaalude and a bottle of whiskey and don't get near my face if I had to get it done.
Question: has anyone had open rhinoplasty? i had it last year in oct with harley and i i told my gp today that i had opp to improve my breathing and make my nose smaller just found out from my gp that they should not have done my opp because they were not refered by my gp and they never contacted my gp before my opp to get my medical records etc am i allowed to sue harley?
Answer: If you had a private operation then there is no reason for Harley to have contacted your GP. Harley have done what any other private cosmetic clinic would have done.
Did you bother to read the consent form you signed?
Why would you want to sue? This is exactly what's wrong with this country - people suing for no reason at all!
Question: how long will my rhinoplasty swelling last? I had an open rhinoplasty 11 days ago and although im generally pleased with my new nose it looks awful because of the amount of swelling around the bridge and tip, will this go down any time soon does anyone have any experience of this? its getting me down cause i cant leave the house now, thanks guys
ps i am a woman, posted on my hubbys account by accident!
Answer: I had a closed rhinoplasty done a few years back. It just so happened that due to scheduling conflicts, my surgery was a mere 3 weeks before a photo shoot. I was worried but really, almost 100% of the swelling and all of the bruising was gone by the time of the photo shoot.
Since you had an open rhinoplasty I'd assume it would take a little bit longer for the swelling to come down due to the high level of invasiveness.
Question: Will a rhinoplasty surgery be noticeable after 2 weeks? I am getting a rhinoplasty surgery and I'll have 2 weeks off of work. It's an open rhinoplasty, and the tip of my nose has thick skin so my surgeon said that it'll be swollen at the tip at first but everything else will look good. But if he's making my nose smaller, then wouldn't the swollen tip look like my old nose before? So then no one would notice right?
Thanks
oh my doctor said i would get the stiches out after 1 week. he said after 7 days i should be feeling pretty normal and the bruises should be about gone
Answer: there will most likely be bruising and th stitches will still be in so it will be noticeable. If anyone asks say you had a deviated septum and it had to be repaired :-)
Question: how am i supposed to wash my face after rhinoplasty? I am having an open septorhinoplasty on thursday and I'm just wondering how i am supposed to wash my face after surgery, if i'm not supposed to get my cast wet? (it will be on for a week!).. if i dont wash my face it will be extremely greasy and i'll get pimples!
Answer: use those face pads.clearasil has them and i think they tell you to rinse them off after it dries but i never do and my skin is clear.
Question: will insurance cover Rhinoplasty due to deviated septum? I have a deviated septum that gives me a lot of breathing problems, that maybe due to my twisted nose (its very obvious) its like I got kicked to the nose...
I was wondering if insurance (Caresource, when i get it...) will cover a Rhinoplasty procedure that would correct my nose and make it straight and open up my nasal passages correctly.....
and also might they cover removing a small hump from the front?
sharing any previous experiences would really help a lot!
thanks so much :D
Answer: healthquotes.awardspace.info - here is my health insurance plan. As I remember they can provide such a service.
Question: how much would it cost to repair a left nostril deviated septum and rhinoplasty in same procedure? I also have noticed in photos that I have nickle sized swelling on each side of my nose about halfway up, right below the bags of my eyes. I am a 54 y/o female. I can barely breath through my left nostil and using a mirror, I can see it's opening is very small compared to the right side. I'm very curious as to what a ball park estimate of cost would be for this procedure. Thank you, Roni
Answer: You need to talk to an ENT surgeon, your hospital, anesthesiology dept. because you will be billed from all of these areas with surgery.
Question: If I get a rhinoplasty, will insurance cover it? I'm pretty sure I broke it a few years ago, because it now has a bump that wasn't there before, and I have trouble breathing through it, I always sleep with my mouth open because I can't breathe through my nose when I'm sleeping, and I can't smell that well through it. If I get surgery to fix this, can it be covered by insurance?
Answer: Everything depends on your specific insurance policy. Every policy is different. Also depends on if the doctor says that it is "medically necessary" , if not the insurance will classify it was "cosmetic" and probably not cover it. Good Luck!
Question: How much does a rhinoplasty cost??? People think I'm crazy when I say I want one...its not urgent at all, but something I might want to do later. Im 24 and I think my nose could look just a bit better. Its not big ad doesnt need much work. I kinda need the tip to be a little bit thinner (but not pointy). Haha!
So, how much would this cost me? What are some things I should keep in mind when deciding to have the surgery? I'm open to anyyyy advice you can give. :o)
Answer: I see people already gave you cost ranges but also go to ratemds.com to find out which ones have done a good job. There are some on there with awful reviews and you don't want to have something unfortunate happen to you. I researched extensively to find one. (I had jaw surgery). Also, there are many plastic surgeons that will give you a free consultation so no loss if you don't like their ideas. Good luck.
Question: I am currently taking Cyproterone acetate 50mg per day. I am wondering if I should discontinue before surgery.? I will be undergoing open rhinoplasty under general Anesthesia soon and I an wondering if there is any risk in continuing my dosage of 50ml Cyproterone acetate. Is it a blood thinner and will it interfere with Anesthesia?
Answer: It isn't going to interfere with the anesthesia. The problem may be with bleeding following surgery, or with clotting where you shouldn't during surgery (deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary emboli).
Your surgeon needs to look into whether or not it's a problem. Call and ask well before your surgery date.
Question: can anyone describe the pain of rhinoplasty? only answer this question if u have had pain....im tired of these stupid and lucky ppl who say it is painless and not to worry, because anything that involves cutting open your nose and reshaping bon and cartilege hurts!!!!!!
Answer: Hello
Rhinoplasty :first you will have 2 black eyes (like a raccoon) then after the surgeon reshapes
your nose, you will either have a P.C.A. which injects in your bloodstream doses of a powerful pain meds,or you will be injected with the same by a nurse,or you will get pills at regular intervals. The last option is the most probable. As for pain management ,the goal is to reduce it by as much as 80%+ .Do not be afraid to ask your nurse or surgeon to re-evaluate the pain or ask(buzz) it it goes
on the rise. What they will ask you pretty much always,``has it improved since the last shot``So it is up to you to tell them if you need an increase in dosage, and to them if you general condition requires
heavier dosages.By all mean it can be reduced to a 2/10 or a 3/10 just discuss prior to surgery
Hey Good-Luck
And Kindest Regards
Question: If a child has had 3 injuries to her nose and has breathing and apperance problems is rhinoplasty recommended ? my daughter has had 3 traumatic injuries to her nose with in the last 9 months and now sleeps with her mouth open which leads her to get dry and itchy throat often and also has caused her to snore, and it is also growing crooked. She has a deviated septum and her nose tissue is growing over bone on bridge ! Is it recommended that she get it corrected by having rhinoplasty done ? i have before and after close up pics of her nose and face and there is a major difference due to injuries and she wants her nose back to normal. What can i do ?
Answer: If the deviated septum makes it harder to breathe then yes it is a good idea, but you should wait until she is a teen at least if possible because while they are young they do so much growing and surgery might now be effective enough right now. So depending on her age and degree of damage internally, not just how it looks will determine when the best time to do it is.
Question: Plastic Surgery Question? I am considering a rhinoplasty and I would like to know the cost to have a dorsal bone, or a hump, removed. Also, would this be closed or open rhinoplasty?
Answer: Rhinoplasty surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Tour2india4health Consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.
Tour2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
