White Line

Question: White line? I have a gateway e4100 model, and the computer goes to boot up gets to the gateway screen before POST and then it goest to a black screen with a single white line in the top left hand computer. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

Answer: if you mean your computer isn't going past POST and actually doing the Power-On Self Tests, then you need to re-flash your BIOS, go to the website for your motherboard's manufacturer and download the latest one, and flash using a floppy disc usually, if you can POST, but windows won't load, that's different: the whte line you're describing is a prompt. It's waiting for SOMETHING, this happens usually when your computer can't boot because there is no os. check your BIOS settings and make sure your first boot drive is your cd player and your second is your hard-drive. if there is no cd, your computer will go to hard-drive. reinstall windows if this doesn't work, nothing else you can do really... except repair using the windows disc. also check your connections, maybe your hard-drive got disconnected somehow, it can happen.

Answer: I have that too, it almost looks like a tan line, except it's odd to have it there, right? I have no idea what it is, except maybe a spot with no pigmentation.

Answer: Could have been a contrail from a jet plane. Could also be the gust front moving through.

Answer: A solid white line separates lanes of traffic going in the same direction. A single white line can be crossed, with caution, to enter another lane. Double white lines can't be crossed.

Question: What is purpose of the white line to the left of the double yellow line in the carpool lane? On Southern Cal. Freeways like the 405 and others, some times there is a white line to the immidiate left of the Solid Double Yellow Line. Does this meen i can get out of the carpool lane whenever i want? Answer: The white line is used to designate an adjacent space/lane with traffic NOT going in the opposing direction; that is that the adjacent space is for traffic going the same direction, or, is not moving, ie like a shoulder next to the far right lane. The white line is a US Road designation standard. You are not supposed to enter/exit the car pool lane unless the solid yellow goes away for a while.

Question: What can I do about this uneven white line on the top of one my prescription lenses? So on one of my lenses I have a uneven white strip look like poor workmanship or how the lenses were cut out and placed in the semi-rimeless glasses. The other lense has a straight line. What is this white line?

Answer: No way to tell without actually seeing them but it sounds like either the lens has a flaw associated with the grinding of the prescription into the back surface or the lens may have warped when placed in the frame. Probably the only way to deal with this issue would be to recut the lens. Whoever crafted your glasses for you should do this at no charge if it is a flaw in fabrication or workmanship. Hope things go well. On second thought you may also be talking about the edge of the lens having an irregular inverted bevel. (That is a groove that is cut into the edge of the lens to hold it in place.) Again though, you just need to take it back and have it replaced.

Question: Why when you watch planes fly there is a white line behind them? What is that cloud like line? When you watch them from land you can always see that line behind big jets. When you watch them from another airplane, however, sometimes that line is not white but black. Can anybody let me know what is that line suppose to be?

Answer: The cloud like line is called a 'contrail'. At higher altitudes there is a certain height above which water vapour freezes. This is known as the 'mintra level'. This height varies with the weather/season. Aircraft flying above the mintra level emit exhaust gases which contain water vapour. This water vapour condenses and freezes and forms ice crystals which can be seen as white trails from the ground. Once they drift to lower levels these trails hit warmer temperatures and the ice crystals melt and dissipate and are not visible. The black smoke you refer to are merely the smoky exhausts from the older aircraft. The new generation engines are clean burning and do not leave behind any such black smoke.

Question: How to remove white line around the legs of alterated pants? So I'm making my pants more long since the last alterate but there is a white line around both legs where the height uses to be. Any ideas on how to remove this? Thanks!

Answer: Iron the line flat...and then dye the pants. I don't recommend using Rit Dye, tho. Rit Dye is just awful. I once dyed a pair of jeans with Rit and they turned my legs black every time I wore them, even after many washings. I finally just threw the jeans in the trash. Dylon Dye is a much more colorfast. Answer: it's called a chalk outline but the chalk outline has never been used in real life it's only a ploy dreamed up by cop movies or tv shows. normally dummies are used to model the victim as they are better suited

Question: How do I get that white line in my jeans? I like the really skinny white line down the center of the jeans, how it's pressed and sharp looking. How can I achieve that look on my jeans by doing it myself ?

Answer: Use a hand towel, one you don't care much for, and place it over the fold of the jean where you want the crease. Steam press the jeans slowly. Repeat on both sides about 3 times. The line appears without the need of bleaching.

Question: Why is there a white line running across my gums? It does make an indent, so I can feel the line as well, and it's kinda deep. It runs across several teeth in the back of my mouth. Answer: Its saliva that builds up, it will rub off when wiped, or if it does not wipe off its your bone that shows throught the thinner part of the gum, its normal

Answer: It sounds like an area of decalcification. These usually never cause any problems except for appearance.

Question: Does white single line over painted on double yellow lines allows you to park there? Ny husband has parked our car near our house in front of a garage where there is a double yellow over painted with thick white single line. Answer: Why on earth would he think he can park in front of someone's garage??? No matter what the linage, obstructing an entrance is an offence. tell him to suck it up and park somewhere else.

Answer: we have used a bingo blotter to apply dye to fabrics before, but not tried it on jean... i imagine you would have to test it to match your fabric color, but it wouldn't be impossible... just blot it on an old towel and test, adding more water for a lighter color until you have the right color. we've also used the same idea but with food coloring and vinegar for a quick fix (but it fades) from bleaching fabrics.

Answer: Have you asked your vet to look at this line? If so and it still hasn't been checked...find another vet. I have found the easiest way to leash train is thru clicker training. You can go to: http://www.clickertraining.com for more information on how it works. Basically with leash training, I take my pups out in an open area without a lot of distractions and start walking. When the pup starts to pull, I turn around and walk the other direction. The first few times, they look at you like you're crazy, but after a while they get the idea. Once they get the idea of not pulling, I start the training of walking beside me. We go for a walk and everytime they walk next to me...I click and treat. It usually takes about two weeks of two 15 minute sessions per day for them to get the hang of it. Good luck and enjoy your puppy.

Question: Why is there a white line across my nail? I know it's a strange question but i have a white line that's appeared near the bottom of my 4th finger nail. I seem to remember my friends saying that it means you need more calcium or something but i don't no if this is correct?

Answer: this is not calcium, its only calcium if its in spots, hence the name calcium spots lol Lines can be caused by damage to the nail bed eg trapping your nail. or nail extensions ect i have been a nail technician for 5 years now

You know those tags that some people have on the front of their vehicle that are totally red and they have a white line going from the top leftto hte bottom right!! What do those stand for or what do they mean? I am just curious.
