Question: is an Eyelid Plastic Surgery the ultimate solution for a Chalazion? Hello, I've had a chalazion on my right upper eyelid for already 9 months. It is small so my ophthalmologist refuses to do anything else on it (I've been through surgery, pills, warm compresses, creams, shot of cortisone and many more things) but I really want it to go away since it makes me feel very insecure. Researching on internet, I've learned an Oculoplastic could help me. Is this the ultimate solution?
Would very much appreciate your feedback.
Thank you
Answer: After 9 months, and not responding to usual therapy, consider having it removed by an oculoplastic surgeon. Would have them send it to pathology to be sure it is not a small skin cancer.
Question: Have anyone Heard of Oculoplastic Surgery ? I would like to know have anyone every heard of Oculoplastic Surgery, the reconstructiment of the eye. Is Plastic Surgery or Opthamalogy ???
Answer: well, its really both. it depends on exactly what type of oculoplastics is being done.
procedures to the eyelid and surrounding area is generally considered "plastic surgery".
but procedures involving the actual globe...its removal, etc is considered ophthalmology
this is a good site to try...
