Columella
The column at the base of the nose separating the nostrils
Question: If i get a SEPTUM PIERCING will it permanently stretch out the columella?
idk im scared lol
Answer: I have mine done and there really isn't a change in my nose at all, its also at a gauge 10 right no, the bigger u go the more likely u will have stretching.
Question: just had septoplasty surgery done 1 week ago? I am still going through post recovery. my question is I still need to have the bridge of my nose extended out and the columella narrowed so the nostrils are a little bit bigger to make the nose more natural. How soon can I have this rhinoplasty done on the tip of my nose and the collumella after having septoplasty done about a week ago?
Answer: did you make the surgeon who was doing your septoplasty aware that you also wanted a cosmetic procedure? because if you didn't, you may have made it harder to go back later and do anything else. if you did tell your surgeon, he should be the one to you the time frame for the subsequent procedures.
Question: Why did these historians, contemporaries of jesus, not write of him? We are talking about a "miracle working son of god" so don't bother comparing his historicity to any other historical figure.
Consider the following list. These are the historians and writers who DID live within Christ's alleged lifetime or within a very short period after his death, yet not a one of them mentio jesus, his "miracles", his birth or ressurection.
Apollonius Persius
Appian Petronius
Arrian Phaedrus
Aulus Gellius Philo-Judaeus
Columella Phlegon
Damis Pliny the Elder
Dio Chrysostom Pliny the Younger
Dion Pruseus Plutarch
Epictetus Pompon Mela
Favorinus Ptolemy
Florus Lucius Quintilian
Hermogones Quintius Curtius
Josephus Seneca
Justus of Tiberius Silius Italicus
Juvenal Statius
Lucanus Suetonius
Lucian Tacitus
Lysias Theon of Smyran
Martial Valerius Flaccus
Paterculus Valerius Maximus
Hell I know he didn't exist, I am just trying to see what the christians think
Go look up the Josephus writings, he did mention christians but the rest of the quote has been proved to be a fake.
Brother Micheal do you write anything of your own or just copy and paste. What you pasted does not in any way answer the question I asked, you are just providing what you see as evidence. You say all jewish sources wrote of him but this is untrue.
detailgirl-again, the Josephus quote has been shown to have been fakes about 150 years after his original writings
Answer: Josephus Flavius DID refer to Christ if you are looking for a specific name fit for your list. I am not particularly knowledgeable about apologetics, yet I can find this reference with a momentary web search.
The writers of the New Testament were, in many instances, martyrs for their faith. Their prolific writings exist although you appear to be able to completely disregard the Bible as a historical source. Why would these eye witness observers die for fiction? These writers also took the subversive actions of writing to women and slaves rather than pandering only to men which would hardly have made their writings popular according to the culture. Yet we still have these writings preserved and available.
I cannot prove the existence of my ancestors. I can document their existence, but I cannot PROVE it. The ability to unequivocally prove or disprove anyone's existence throughout history is based primarily upon surviving information and our ability to interpret that information.

And it's true. Jesus is probably the most overrated but stolen myth.
Question: Rhinoplasty....?!?!!? Hi, so i got my open rhinoplasty about 4 days ago fixing around my nasal tip. I have a birthmark called hemangioma on my nose (its not that noticable anymore) so the surgery was meant to 'fix it' up a bit removing the bump on the tip and the scarred tissue i have on my columella (from past surgeries i think). i now have stitches on my columella and i found that my nostrils are extremely un-even? my left nostril is more wider while my right nostril is more narrow and their extremely tiny now. It pretty much looks like my surgeon changed the whole shape of my nose when u look under it Dx but it could be the swelling and bruising right? i have an appointment with my surgeon coming up soon but will he say that its just the swelling and its too soon to tell? would i have to take a revision surgery or something??? i HATE surgeries and btw im only 13 and its not my first time having nose surgeries D: My nose is more messed up than before and im really depressed by it :/ will it go away after the swelling? how long will the recovery take?
Thanks :)
Answer: I don't think You will have to take Revision Surgery. Just wait for a week. This is a common problem and many ppl ask about the uneven size of Nostrils. It is just due to Swelling it will as fast as possible. In your appointment share your problem.
Don't feel Depressed !!! You are just 13,you should thank your parents that they are doing a lot for your comfort. You are the lucky one.

Funny how nobody seems to recall the man who managed to walk on water...
The figure known as Jesus christ is not once mentioned.
Village atheist, I said SOME are within a century. Most are at the current time.
Pliny the elder was IN JERUSALEM at the time of christ. Yet he has no mention of him at all.
Answer: Josephus, Tacitus, Pliny (the younger), Celsus, Lucian, Epictetus, Porphyry, and the Emperor Marcus Antoninus wrote about Jesus Christ.

well if you do want your nose bridge to look smaller theres a small trick
get a brown eyeshow [or contouring powder] and LIGHTLY contoure your nose bridge my explanation might be crappy BUT there are videos on youtube ,im sure of that..just if you type 'nose contoure ' or something like that ! i use that trick sometimes[just to make it look nice since i contoure my jawlines,cheekbones..etc],it REALLY works and you can highlight your nose with a shimery white shadow i know it might be tough since you might not touch makeup but for the time being you can look @ vids on youtube related to nose contoure [or smth like tht] and learn! i personally think Bill Kaulitz has the perfect nose, its just SOO perfect haha and dont bash on him saying he's gay and sh*t..thts getting old lol anyways..you're cute!and dont obsess bout your nose too much
and also try the nose contouring do some research on em'! good luck!
Question: Anybody has historical data about Jesus? John E. Remsburg, in his classic book The Christ: A Critical Review and Analysis of the Evidence of His Existence (The Truth Seeker Company, NY, no date, pp. 24-25), lists the following writers who lived during the time, or within a century after the time, that Jesus is supposed to have lived:

According to Remsburg, "Enough of the writings of the authors named in the foregoing list remains to form a library. Yet in this mass of Jewish and Pagan literature, aside from two forged passages in the works of a Jewish author, and two disputed passages in the works of Roman writers, there is to be found no mention of Jesus Christ." Nor, we may add, do any of these authors make note of the Disciples or Apostles - increasing the embarrassment from the silence of history concerning the foundation of Christianity.
Do you have anything to add???
My Mother:
Josephus was a loyal pharisee, and the interpolated paragraph alluding to Jesus was sticking out like a sore thumb out of his purely Jewish text.
Kychick:
Remember that Tacitus did not believe in Christ or Christianity, and refers to it as a "pernicious superstition". As such, most scholars believed that he was merely repeating what "rumors" he heard of this movement. He wished to make a point about the extent of Nero's vanity and the magnitude of his vices, and to display the crimes he committed against the Roman people
Answer: This is an very interesting question. It would take a lifetime of study and research to cover the writings of all listed.
This is one document I have always fond historically correct concerning Christians. In my opinion, there is little doubt that Jesus was an actual person. To believe or not believe He was divine is a matter of faith.
This is from the writings of Tacitus documenting events that took place after Rome burned.
"The Annals"
By Tacitus
Translated by Alfred John Church and William Jackson Brodribb
"Consequently, to
get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most
exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called
Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin,
suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands
of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous
superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only
in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome, where all
things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their
centre and become popular. Accordingly, an arrest was first made of
all who pleaded guilty; then, upon their information, an immense multitude
was convicted, not so much of the crime of firing the city, as of
hatred against mankind. Mockery of every sort was added to their deaths.
Covered with the skins of beasts, they were torn by dogs and perished,
or were nailed to crosses, or were doomed to the flames and burnt,
to serve as a nightly illumination, when daylight had expired".
Question: Spiritually speaking, how is this possible or plausible? The following Jewish and pagan writers, living at the time of Jesus' life or during the first century, handed down to us enough of their writings to fill a small library. Yet not one of them mentioned Jesus. These writers are: Josephus, Seneca, Philo-Judaeus, Pliny the Elder, Seutonius, Juvenal, Martial, Arrian, Petronius, Dion Pruseus, Paterculus, Appian, Phlegon, Theon of Smyrna, Persius, Plutarch, Tacitus, Statius, Justus of Tiberius, Apollonius, Pliny the Younger, Lucanus, Quintilian, Epictetus, Silius Italicus, Ptolemy, Hermogones, Valerius Maximus, Pompon Mela, Quintius Curtius, Lucian, Pausanias, Favorinus, Valerius Flaccus, Florus Lucius, Phaedrus, Damis, Aulus Gellius, Columella, Dio Chrysostom, Lysias and Appion of Alexandria.
Not one of these writers mentioned Jesus, or his supposed miracles, or his possible insurrection-leading; or the fact that when he died the sun stopped shining at midday, there were earthquakes, and graves opened up allowing corpses to emerge from them alive. You'd think someone would have noticed. These writers were writing about the time and place where Jesus supposedly worked his miracles and died so dramatically. And except for a few obvious Christian interpolations inserted clumsily a couple of centuries later, and universally acknowledged by scholars to be interpolations, these writers are silent about Jesus. How can this be?
esus is mentioned in two passages of the work The Antiquities of the Jews by the Jewish historian Josephus, written in the late first century AD. One passage, known as the Testimonium Flavianum, discusses the career of Jesus. The authenticity of the Testimonium Flavianum has been disputed since the 17th century, and by the mid 18th century the consensus view was that it was at a minimum embellishment by early Christian scribes, if not a forgery. The other passage simply mentions Jesus as the brother of James, also known as James the Just. Most scholars consider this passage genuine,[1] but its authenticity has been disputed by Emil Schürer as well by several recent popular writers.
Josephus' other major work, The Jewish War, makes no mention of Jesus.
Pliny's knowledge of Christianity was "largely second-hand,"
The Roman historian Tacitus, writing in his Annals (c. 116) about the Great Fire of Rome (64), included an account of how the emperor Nero blamed the Christians in Rome for the disaster and initiated the first known persecution of early Christians by the Romans. This has become one of the best known and most discussed passages of Tacitus' works.[1] Although partly aimed at showing the inhumanity of the emperor, Tacitus' remarks have been studied more by modern scholars for information about his own religious attitudes and about the early history of Christianity.
Tacitus only spoke about early Christianity..not Jesus. These fact are not from atheist sites. If yours are from Chrisitian ones, then I suggest more lying for Jesus is going on. The fact on Pliny the Younger was from a Christian site.
Pliny the Elder (23-79) is a different person from Pliny the Younger (62-113).
Answer: There is more evidence that Caesar Augustus bodily ascended into heaven than there is that Jesus Christ ever existed. Why don't the true believers buy that one? Well played.
Question: realigning crooked nose cost? I broke my nose when i was young and it grew in crooked so i wanted to get it fixed. I went to an ENT doctor and he said i would need 3 procedures. the bone is not broken but the nose cartilage is crooked so he told me i would not need rhinoplasty.
but insteed....
Septoplasty (30520)
Inferior Turbinate reduction (30140)
Reconstruction of nasal columella (13150)
He told me everything would cost a total of $13,000 which seems pretty steep for those procedures considering that rhinoplasty costs around $5,000 and its considered a more seriouse procedure.
I was just wodering if he is trying to rip me off or if that price is actually accurate.
he said it would be a one day procedure. they would put me under anesthesia i would wake up and be monitered and then the same day go home. it also seems as if he is trying to rush me saying he can do it this month and already making a shedule for me.
i got really suspicouse because he wanted to do it so soon. i thought it would take more preperation and stuff so i thought that maybe he wants me to do it quickly so i wont have to think about actually checking what other doctors might say.
Answer: The $5k sounds right for the rhinoplasty. However, as you said, it is serious - I knew a woman who died from complications. And her nose wasn't even that bad.
Perhaps you pay more for lesser risk. It's possible that avoiding a quick, cheap, but dangerous procedure requires pricey surgeries. It makes sense that three surgeries will cost more than one. That isn't always the case, but I wouldn't be surprised. Sounds like he'd be doing very delicate work, and perhaps the time it takes is more - hence you pay for his time. His cost might be more than other doctors would charge tho, so your best bet would be to get a second opinion from a different doctor.
Question: Why did none of the contemporary writers of his time even mention Jesus? Apollonius Persius Appian Petronius
Arrian Phaedrus Aulus Gellius Philo-Judaeus
Columella Phlegon Damis Pliny the Elder
Dio Chrysostom Pliny the Younger Dion Pruseus Plutarch
Epictetus Pompon Mela Favorinus Ptolemy

Juvenal Statius Lucanus Suetonius
Lucian Tacitus Lysias Theon of Smyran
Martial Valerius Flaccus Paterculus Valerius Maximus
Pausanias
Nor do any of these authors make note of the Disciples or Apostles.
The only information of the life of Jesus comes from Christian believers.
What are your opinions on why Jesus was not mentioned by any of these writers?
K FOR HIM
the CHRISTIANS that wrote the NT did so DECADES AFTER Jesus died.
I ask about CONTEMPORARY writers, the ones LISTED HERE.
You ask WHY they would write about him? Well, wasn't he meant to have been going around performing miracles?
Answer: I hear this augment frequently, not just about Jesus, but about Moses, King David and any Biblical event or person. "They" say the Jews were never in Egypt, Moses didn't exist and King David was a myth. The historical evidence that is sighted is always rejected. All I can say is, why would these events and people have such an impact on history, if they never were?
Question: Are these succulents winter or summer growers? Looking for growth habits and care for following succulents? I am seeking information on the following:
1) Echeveria
2) Haworthia
3) Crassula
More specifically:
Echeveria - derenbergii, afterglow, perle von nurnberg, subsessilis, pinwheel, curly locks
Crassula - perforata, perforata variegata, high voltage, pagoda, columella, rupestris
Haworthia - fasciata, limifolia
I am new to caring for these plants and would appreciate some assistance. Thanks so much.
I found a chart on highlandsucculents.com that shows the dormancy period (winter/summer growers) for various types of succulents. According to their site, Haworthias and Crassula are winter growers. Echeveria are summer growers.
Answer: A look in one of the garden magazines should yield you an answer. Either that or just google it...

Question: Why do people believe in Jesus when there is no historical evidence for his existence? There is no historical reference to Jesus’ life, death or the crucifixion―nothing at all. John E. Remsburg, in his classic book The Christ: A Critical Review and Analysis of the Evidence of His Existence1 lists the following contemporary historians/writers who lived during the time, or within a century after the time, that Jesus was supposed to have lived:
Apollonius Persius Appian Petronius
Arrian Phaedrus Aulus Gellius Philo-Judaeus
Columella Phlegon Damis Pliny the Elder
Dio Chrysostom Pliny the Younger Dion Pruseus Plutarch
Epictetus Pompon Mela Favorinus Ptolemy
Florus Lucius Quintilian Hermogones Quintius Curtius
Josephus Seneca Justus of Tiberius Silius Italicus
Juvenal Statius Lucanus Suetonius
Lucian Tacitus Lysias Theon of Smyran
Martial Valerius Flaccus Paterculus Valerius Maximus
Pausanias
According to Remsburg,
“Enough of the writings of the authors named in the foregoing list remains to form a library. Yet in this mass of Jewish and Pagan literature, aside from two forged passages in the works of a Jewish author, and two disputed passages in the works of Roman writers, there is to be found no mention of Jesus Christ.”
Nor, we may add, do any of these authors make note of the disciples or apostles; increasing the embarrassment from the silence of history concerning the foundation of Christianity. In other words, the only information of the life of Jesus comes from Christian believers.
Reason would dictate that if all the miracles which Jesus supposedly performed or surrounded him:
1. Being born of a virgin mother;
2. Three Magi following the brightest star forever to see the demigod;
3. The slaying of the innocent babies;
4. Raising the dead, healing the blind and lame;
4. Having the sky turn to blackness when Jesus died;
5. Earthquakes in the region;
6. The zombie saints coming out of their graves going to Jerusalem; and
7. The Resurrection.
that at least one of these world headline news events would have at least a small mention by at least one of the foregoing historian and writers. But, NO, they are totally silent!
Answer: There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!
There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!
He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?
Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!
Pilate is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!
At best he was an amalgam of those others but almost certainly never existed!
So no such thing as an anti christ either!
Just christians posting intolerance, hatred, bigotry and persecution that drives every decent person away from Christianity!
Question: rhinoplasty on the NHS? I had my nose broken when I was 1 and again when I was a child (I have 3 brothers and we could be quite rough). I was told I couldn't have surgery until I was older. So now that I am I was wondering how I would go about getting this done and what are the best hospitals in London to have it done in (I live in East London). It's quite hard to breathe in one nostril and it often gets blocked. Also if I get sinus infections it tends to be that side. Adding to that, the columella (or septum) clicks if I rub my nose, one of my brothers told me it'd fall out if I keep doing it.
Answer: If your PCT is willing to fund it you can get it on the NHS, but in the current climate and the PCTs soon to be abolished I doubt it.
You need to see your GP and ask their opinion.
Question: After nose job - crease under nose when I smile? I had a nose job 2 weeks ago. I know it is still swollen and needs time to heal, but I am very concerned about my new smile. The doctor had to insert an "implant" into my columella (the skin between the nostrils) to keep my tip up. I am very happy with the results, but when I smile, the implant is so hard/stiff that it pushes into my skin underneath my nose and gives a weird "mini smile" looking crease above my actual smile. Has anyone experienced anything like this? If so, did it go away after time? Thanks for your response...
Answer: i havent, but my cousin did, she just practiced smiling every day. i know it sounds silly, but it worked!
every day she just smiled 2 or 3 times every hour (roughly, she didnt time it or anything :L and she didnt do it while she was sleeping or anything)
just remember that it isnt fully healed yet either, and also according to her... the implant got a little less stiff, good luck :D
