Question: Does silicone sheeting for the treatment of hypertrophic scars really work?
Answer: My mom had surgery on her throat - and she had scarring on her throat and they prescribed these silicon sheets to place on the scar tissue....worked wonders, there is almost no visible scarring.
Question: Where can i buy epiderm silicone gel sheeting? besides the internet. i heard that some drug stores my have it?

Answer: The scar will be very tiny & low. And will hardly be noticeable anyways. I wouldn't waste money on anything like that. Most doctors will just tell you that if you're worried about it, use mederma.
Question: Are silicone sheets the best non-stick surface to use in a dehydrator? My dehydrator did not come with any non-stick sheets for very wet and sticky foods, like pureed fruit. Many sheets designed specifically for dehydrators are Teflon coated, which I'd prefer to avoid. Would a silicone baking sheet, cut to size, be the answer - or does anyone have a better suggestion? Many thanks!
Answer: What brand is your dehydrator? Most, including mine, come with (or you can order them) a special lipped plastic type tray. These are used for making fruit roll-ups, etc. My "special" trays are nothing like non-stick, and absolutely not coated with Teflon (which I do not use).
As for substituting silicone baking sheets, I don't know how well that would work, but for certain know you would not be able to replicate the lipped outer rim that trays designed for that purpose have. I think your product would drip everywhere, and more importantly down around the heating element. What a mess and/or possible hazard that would be.
I believe your best bet would be to check and see if you can order them.
Question: Do silicone sheets work for keloid and hypertrophic scars? These are raised scars that are red and itchy. I've been doing cortisone shots, but its not responding well. The scar is the same, but the itching and sharp pains have stopped. I've had this scar for a year now.
I just bough Silicone Scar Sheets (CVS brand) but I have to use it 2 months to see any results. Is it worth it? Has anyone used them before.
Thanks
Answer: Yes, silicon sheets work for hypertrophic scars/ keloid (more effective in hypertrophic scar than keloid). Do you have hypertrophic scar or keloid? Hypertrophic scar develops on a previous scar, grows for only 6 months then stops, and never goes in normal tissue. Keloid can develop without trauma/ surgery/ previous scar, will keep on growing, and can spread to normal surrounding area also. Keloid is more common in coloured races (In India it is not very rare) and common sites are shoulder and breast bone. Usually they respond to Steroid injection . One important point:- what ever you apply just make sure that it is FDA approved.
I am giving you a proper medical advise (though free of cost) so don't take it lightly, and I think in this forum all other answers (by google search) wont be of any use because most of them dont even know the difference between acne/ pimple/ papule/ keloid etc.
Best wishes

Question: How to use silicone sheets for scars? This is about silicone sheets for scars. How do you use them? Do you simply put the sheet on your skin, and does it stick automatically like a p ost, it note for the skin? Or how do you get it to stick? Can you go under water with it on?
Answer: Read the directions....how hard is that?
Question: Silpat silicone sheet pan liner; Bake cookies longer or shorter? I love my new Silpat sheet pan liner. It keeps the bottoms of my cookies from getting too dark because they don't get so hot on the sheet pan. They also slide off like magic. However....a cookie that usually take 10 - 12 minutes doesn't look done in the same amount of time. If I bake them until golden, they are hard as a rock and dry.
How do I adjust the time for baking cookies on my Silpat Silicone pan liner???
Answer: I often use either silpat liners or parchment paper and don't find the need to adjust the temp or baking time at all. Maybe just let the cookies rest on the sheet after removing them from the oven.
Question: What side of a silicone cookie sheet do you use to cook with? My flat silicone cookie sheet has a smooth side with a ruler and a ribbed side but I don't remember which side is the correct side to use.
Answer: I always use the smooth side.
Question: Should my silicone baking sheet turn dark? Will silicone affect baking time? I just used my new silicone baking sheet to make some oven potatoes, and half of it turned dark brown. The color wont wash off. Also, it took half the time for the potatoes to cook. Is this normal? Will it happen with all of my dishes?
Answer: I have several types of silicone mats. They all have turned brown here and there. I can't get the stains out either. However, everything still bakes in the same time.
Question: Do silicone sheets/gels on breast augmentation scars actually work? My scars are red and raised and can be quite painful. They are so many treatments for scars does anyone know what works best? Also many treatments claim to increase collagen production but isn't that bad for some scars?
Answer: Your scar is hypertrophic and silicone sheets are supposed to work well on these. I have a scar on my face and have been using the sheets for 3 weeks and have noticed a slight difference. They are supposed to be up to 90% effective so theres no harm in trying. I think rejuveness do round sheets specifically for breasts so check their website(below) out.
Massage is supposed to break scar tissue down so a 5 min massage a day might also help, whilst vitamin e and bio oil will help soften and fade the scar. Rio Rosa mosqeuta oil is claimed to be good for this too.
The increase of collagen production helps to break down the scar tissue and rebuild new smoother scars. This is why healing takes a long time... Up to 2 years! Hope this helps.
Question: Where can I get cheap silicone sheets for scar removal in Delhi? How effective are they for injury scars?
Answer: Go to your local pharmacy and ask your pharmacists, they may be able to help you.
Question: How well do scar away silicone scar sheets work? I scar VERY easily and I have a scar on my foot from tripping over my boyfriends weights...it wasn't a deep cut I would have only called it a scrap but I still have a scar after about 6 months...I tried mederma and it did not give me any results...will silicone scar sheets work better???
Answer: They may help, but it is mostly time that will make the scar go away. With both Maderma and the sheets, you have to use them consistenty for months to see results.
Question: silicone baking sheet question? I just got a silicone baking sheet. On one side it's smooth, and on the other side it's textured, like slightly raised circles. Which side is up?
Answer: You've made a very wise purchase and each side is designed for different techniques and cooking applications, so you can use either one!

Question: Can I use a silicone baking sheet as a splashback ? Okay, I have a caravan and I need to protect the wall at the side of the hob and also the worktop/cover that goes over the hob, from the heat during and after cooking. Can I use a silicone baking sheet for this - it's safe to 230oC so I think yes but I need confirmation !! Also what would I use to stick it up with ???? Thanks guys xxx
Answer: NO. You will need to nail it. It will look awful. Use ceramic or metal tiles.
Question: Are silicone gel sheets available on prescription? I have hypertrophic scars and dark/red scars that I know will take months or even years to fully heal and turn white, flat and pale. I looked up things on the internet and found something about silicone gel sheets. They are outrageously expensive!! I wondered whether they'd be available on prescription and whether there was an age limit? I don't see my doctor for another couple of weeks so I thought I'd check before I saw him. Cheers x
Answer: Go to a chemists and look at the pack. If it has a P on it then it can be prescribed but you can buy it without prescription as well. The pharmacist should be able to advise you if you can't see the symbol I'm talking about.
POM means that it can only be obtained on prescription.
Question: Where can I purchase silicone sheets for scars? Can you buy them in regular drugstores? and how much does it cost?

Question: Where could I find Silicone/gel scar sheets for scar reduction? When I was younger I used to cut myself. (yea, i know how stupid) Now that I am pregnant I want to find something to reduce the scars. Some of my scars are normal and some are raised which I think is called keliods. I heard that silicone/gel scar sheets work best for raised scars. I just wanted to know if anyone knows at what store I could find them at or if anyone knew of anything else that could help me reduce the scars.
Answer: You can find the scar sheets at WalMart. I think its the same isle as band aids. You could also apply cocoa butter to your scars. Your scars may not go away completely, but time will make them fade
Question: Does it matter which side is up with silicone baking sheets? I received a few as a gift without instructions and I don't want to ruin them. One side is shiny and the other is dull with a bit of a texture.
Answer: I have a silpat -- put the slick side up. I love mine, it makes baking cookies a lot easier.
