How long does it take for a Kenalog 40mg inj to start working?
Answer: It isn't a pain reliever. Its a corticosteroid, which means it's used to help the healing process.
What did you receive the injection for?
Question: How Dangerous are Corticosteroid Injections like Kenalog or Prednisone? I have a VERY annoying case of cholinergic urticaria. It does not respond well to antihistamines, and is nearly destroying my life.
I think corticosteroids may help reduce my symptoms--but these seem to have a lot of side effects. How dangerous would a kenalog injection be? Or a course of Prednisone?
Thanks!
Answer: Corticosteroids can be dangerous if they are not used properly.
There are two reasons for those side effects.
First, if you are taking high doses for a long period of time, they can cause something called iatrogenic Cushing disease (search that). Cushing disease includes central obesity, fragile blood vessels, possible diabetes mellitus, low immune system... But, that's important if you are useing steroids for years.
The other one is when you take a few high doses and just stop taking it. That can cause accute insufficiency of suprarenal gland, that can cause life treathening condition. Before you stop, you have to slowly reduce doses, but your doctor should know that.
In any other case, steroids are safe drugs, but don't do anything without your doctor.
Because of urticaria, for you it's indicated to usecorticosteroids, so don't worry, they want cause you anything bad.

Question: So why does receiving Kenalog shots in the arm deteriorate the tissue the way it does? I recently saw a person I had known from years back and it looked as though a horse had taken a chunk out of their arm, everything, muscle, fat it was all gone. Why does this happen when a Kenalog shot is delivered to the arm??? She said that it was administered wrong and I've heard they aren't supposed to go in your arm but why does this happen???
Answer: Kenalog is a catabolic steroids and too much of it can lead to atrophy of muscles, bones, etc.
Question: Scar tissue after nose job? How do you get rid of it? I had kenalog injections many times I have scar tissue at the tip of my nose after my nose job. I got kenalog injections many times and it's still not going away.
Any ideas on how to get rid of scar tissue?
This is tissue , I assume it's scar since surgeon says it is. What is the tissue inside that might form after trauma?
Not on the surface of skin but beneath.
Answer: What is a Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is a very common procedure which aims to change the appearance of the nose to make it more harmonious on the face. The surgery can thin, turn up, augment, shorten or lengthen, and essentially change the shape of the nose. Rhinoplasties are commonly called 'nose jobs'. It can involve rasping of the nasal bones to remove a bump, resecting the cartiledge to change it's projection, trimming the cartiledge to make it smaller and more defined and a whole myriad of procedures.
Most rhinoplasty procedures are done after the patient has stopped maturing on their face. This usually occurs at 16-17 in girls and a little later in boys. Rhinoplasty can be combined with a chin augmentation, which can help balance the look of both the nose and the chin. Sometimes a problem in one area creates a perceived problem in the other.
Common reasons for choosing a Rhinoplasty
Possibly everyone has a reason to dislike something about their nose. Whether or not that dissapointment is great enough for you to seek to change it is dependant on the individual. People looking to get rhinoplasty must remember that it is a cosmetic change only, it is also important to understand the limitations of the procedure - what can or can't be changed. There are realistic and irrational reasons for looking to change your nose.
Common complaints of people seeking rhinoplasty: too large, too flat, large bump or convex profile, too wide or fat, too thin, too long, too short, too pinched looking, scooped or concave profile (ski slope nose), hanging columella, functionality - difficulty breathing, crooked, asymettry (nostrils or general structure), bumps, a bifid tip - an indent down the center of the tip, scar tissue, damage from accidents, hooked nose, upturned nose, pointy, bulbuous, lack of definition
Common complaints or conditions of people who should not be seeking rhinoplasty: becoming more popular, life advancement, becoming more desirable, winning over someone, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) or any other self image disorder, low self esteem due to no visible cause, weak chin, weak jaw, weak or prominant upper jaw, pressure from third parties, career advancement

Question: What Has anyone had a kenalog injection for RA and if yes what was your result please. I had one last week an? My feet seem a lot better and my kness mproved but still suffering painful stiffness in the night. My hands wrists are still painful and cannot still do normal opening jars, carrying etc
Answer: You can get all the injections you want but the best they are supposed to do is help with pain management, they do nothing to address the real problem of getting rid of the RA. And you can do that too, but the Dr.'s and drug companys won't make their money if you have a home remedy that works and does a better job than what they offer.
Question: Has anyone experienced a dent in their butt after a kenalog injection? How about other body parts?
Answer: Don't lie. That wasn't a kenalog injection, it was a WB injection.

Question: Can Kenalog in Orabase cause Burning Mouth Syndrome? I recently finished up a 5 day treatment of Kenalog in Orabase on my tongue, I stopped two days ago, but since then I have been experiencing Burning Tongue,Roof of Mouth and sometimes lips. This fits the characteristics of BMS since I usually wake up with no pain and it comes in spurts throughout the day.
I have tested negative for Thrush and Candidas.
If this is BMS brought on by the medicine, how long should I expect it to last?
Thanks
Answer: Around a week...
Question: i get kenalog injections for keloids, is there another permanent treatment or cure? I have keliods on my chest from pimples, I've been injecting them with kenalog for years but they still come up. Is there something I can use to get rid of them permanently?
Answer: Adelle Davis in Let's Get Well recommends vitamin E 400 iu twice a day, and Vitamin E oil applied daily.
MSM cream can also be tried, and 2-4 grams a day in divided doses taken.
No guarantees, but it has helped some folks.
Good luck!
Question: Have you had Kenalog injections for Keloids? I'm considering getting Kenalog injections for the two larger keloids I have on my chest (one is 1 in x .5 in, the other is .5 in x.25 in).
A. How large and old was the keloid you had the treatment on?
B. How many treatments did you have prior to seeing any improvement? (if any)
C. How much did it cost?
Thanks!
Answer: I'm actually on the other side of the syringe, since I'm a skin doc. You have to remember that the injections won't get rid of the keloid, but hopefully soften it, and help flatten it a bit. The cost will be different from doc to doc, unless you are covered by an insurance plan, and in that case, it's whatever your copay is. As a rule, it may take several injections, but as I said, the success rate isn't all that great.
Question: Treatment for muscle atrophy from kenalog injection site.? I have two identations in my buttox due to the Kenalog shot given to me months ago. I experience pain in both areas. I am worried that the indentations are getting bigger (as of now they are about the side of a golf ball). I am wondering if there is a treatment for this, and if notm what do I do?
Answer: You should definitely check this with your doctor, not with perfect strangers on the Internet. You have no idea who's giving you a response and whether they know what they're talking about.
Please see your doctor asap if you're concerned.

Answer: Honestly I have never heard of that and i didnt even know you could take injections to get rid of accne either...that sounds kind of painful to me, that isnt the way they are much better options.
I am currently using something calles Roacutane and I saw results in 2 days...it works really well!
One word my friend...Roaccutane!
I have had bad acne for many many years and trust me it was a real pain for me...i hated it terribly!
I have been on MANY products such as proactiv(which when you finsih using it brings out the pimples worst), neatrogena, clearasil, ambi and many more!
None of them worked for me beause when i finished using the proactiv which was a waste of my momey the pimples came back out soooooo much worst than it was in the beginning!
I went to my dermatologist last in March and he introduced me to Roaccutane. I decided to use it, and i am NOT dissapointed at all with the excellent results that I have.
I have been using it for a month and 24 days so far and within the first 2 days i had seen results..the pimples were disappearing(thats what we all want right?)
I am still using it because I have to complete my year.
The best part of it is that it is a tablet that you take. Its not a soap or a toner or a 4-5 step procedure that gets on your nerve..just one little tablet.
Its easy and stress free and best of all...Brings results!
You willl not be dissapointed if you try this product.
This product is only available through perscription by a dermatologist.
Use it and see for yourself!

This treatment last for about 7 years after you finish your course with it and even longer.
Question: Do Corticosteroid Shots (like Kenalog or Prednisone) Cause Cancer? I have a rare type of physical hives (called cholinergic urticaria). Anyway, I can't mow my yard or do anything right now because I break out in very painful and itchy hives when I get hot. Antihistamines don't work, and I am thinking of trying a steroid shot.
My question is: Do steroid shots like prednisone or kenalog cause cancer? Are they safe? Will I develop cancer 10 years down the road from this?
Answer: Chronic steroid use is a very bad idea, and a physician would only do it to help a particularly bad problem that cannot be otherwise treated. Steroids like Prednisone suppress your immune system. This is good when your immune system is going nuts and causing hives, but it isn't so good for preventing illness. Prednisone does not cause cancer, but it will reduce your body's ability to fight the pre-cancerous cells that occur because of spontaneous mutations in the cells.
Chronic Prednisone also messes with your lipids and your blood sugar. If this only occurs when you mow your yard, a doctor is not going to prescribe steroids.
You should see an allergist. A real MD who specializes in allergic reactions. There are other drugs that will help.
Question: Do kenalog injections work on old keloids. Also has anyone ever heard of or used cimeosil for their keloids? My keloid is 15 years old, I know surgery will probably make it come back even bigger.
Answer: Injecting the keloid with a steroid like "Kenalog" may help a bit. A good plastic surgeon may be able to cut it out (revision) and then sew it very carefully and put some medicines in it to avoid keloid scarring.
Good luck
Question: I received an injection in my spine of Kenalog for low back pain and disc bulging. Any side effects?
Answer: I've had similar injections. The injection can make you feel better, but the actual injection can cause the area ache....just like any other injection. Other than that...no other symptoms that I can think of. Are you having any symptoms?
Question: Are kenalog injections better, worse, or just as bad on your blood sugars as a cortisone injection?
Answer: Still a steroid, so it will keep BG's significantly elevated as long as it's in your system, and a few weeks afterwards. I do hope you didn't get one of those 6-month injections. All docs need to be educated about steroidal effects on BG...it's really awful.
Question: Is Kenalog In orabase edible? Dear All, i wanted to ask that whether is kenalog in orabase edible? I want to use it for my ulcer and i am confused as i found some information that says "you should not swallow Kenalog in Orabase". How should i use it ?
In ulcers,I mean my mouth ulcers. Thanks
Answer: just apply some directly onto the ulcers...it's ok if you accidently swallow a small amount, but be cautious
