Question: What is your preferred covering for wooden fascia board? The fascia board underneath the gutter can be covered with aluminum (which requires a brake to bend), a new kind of rolled plastic found in home centers (which also requires a brake to bend), or plastic facia which is found in the siding section. Which is best and why? What fasteners are used?
Answer: If it is going under a gutter & you can stand a joint or 2 , have used a vinyl fascia cover which comes in 12' lengths.
Not wanting to rent a brake I used some I found in a lumber yard that was the exact 8" width I needed
It is slightly textured & has a rolled lip which clips over the bottom edge of the fascia board
Also found some in a Home Depot that I think was wider, but same idea .
I nailed it up w/ white aluminum trim nails & a little white caulk behind the butt joints.
With a little fiddling & some white gutter caulking was able to get fairly clean looking ends by putting a miter cut in the lip & bending.
Has been up for a while on garage & remains cleaner than the aluminum wrapped fascia on house.
Best regards
Question: How much does it cost per linear foot to wrap fascia with metal? How much would it cost to wrap fascia with pvc trim coil? Two stories high. Remove old piece, bend and install new one. Just the fascia and not the sophit.
Answer: If there is no guttering on the fascia allow about $2.50 per foot with a minimum of $250. This depends somewhat on if the fascia has a flat surface or if there needs to be custom bending done on the coil which requires a 10' aluminum brake at the job-site. If guttering needs to come down to install new fascia allow extra cost to either remove gutter or tuck fascia up behind it.
This is most likely a two man job on a 2 story house, and if there are gables and rake trim it's even higher.
Question: What is the proper way to attach fascia boards to sheathing for a re roof? Do i need shims or to cut angles onto the fascia boards where do i put the bottom edge of the sheathing
I'm using 2x6's for the fascia do i measure from the front or back of the boards
Answer: Attach fascia to rafter tails using two galvanized 16d nails per rafter tail. Use a speed square or other straight edge to plane the front top corner of your fascia board with the rafter tail. To set sheathing, pull from your fascia 48 1/2 too 48 3/4 from the fascia at both ends of the roof and snap a line. Now run your sheeting from the line and you should be good as gold.
Question: How hard is it to install soffit and fascia? I want to install it on my house and garage. Any tips? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My house is about 900 square feet. How much does soffit and fascia cost? What tools do I need to install it? Is it easy to do myself??
Thank you for your help!
Answer: Yes you could do it . And if your house is single story . If you study up on it. and look at other houses. Siding and soffit are simple . Just take awhile to figure out tricks. I like vinyl soffit and alum facia .
I wouldn't know where to being the how to's and I dont know your house. But you can do it with just a square and tin snips for soffit and facia. And a saw for any nailers you may need .
As for costs . You area is probably way differentin $$ then mine.
Question: What are the pros and cons of using composite wood non-rot fascia board? This is a fairly new product. The idea of not having to worry about rot again or not having to install bent alumininum over the fascia is attractive. But what are the disadvantages?
Also, what sort of fasteners are used?
Answer: Funny you should ask.... since you asked about fascia covers.
Have a place at the shore & there is a lot of renovation going on.
Exteriors are going on completely "paint free" because of the sun & salt air
Have seen something like Trex going up,.
Different than the "foam" exterior moldings which have been around for a while.
Contractors were using stainless anderson head finish screws (I asked).
Looks like the color goes all the way through to me.
They were hanging very long pieces & it can whip around & crack which should not be a problem with enough hands.
Probably too pricey for me, maybe next time
Best regards
Question: What are the symptoms of a plantar fascia rupture? I was running yesterday and I felt a tearing sensation on the bottom of my foot and today I can barely walk. I've had plantar fasciitis before, this felt different. How do they treat plantar fascia rupture? Anyone know? Not a lot on the web about it.
Answer: If you strain your plantar fascia, it can become inflamed, weak and swollen, making it painful to stand or walk. The pain may be strongest when you first step out of bed in the morning or if you have been standing for long periods of time.
There are lots of different options for healing plantar fasciitis. You can give your feet a rest for a few days and avoid doing activities that make the pain worse. You can also trying icing the area, using an over-the-counter pain reliever and buying shoes with extra support. If your condition worsens, your doctor can give you shots of steroid medication.
If the pain in your foot persists, you should consult your doctor!

Question: How do I install aluminium fascia on my house. I now have wood fascia boards.? I am residing my house. New vinyl siding, sofitt and fascia complete with house wrap and insulation board. I must put my seamless gutters up first as I had my foundation redone with steel piers and anchors. The contractor for the foundation told me to get the gutter up asap. So I must do the fascia first. Can someone give me instructions to put the fascia on step by step. Also do I need to remove the old wood fascia first? Please help as I can't afford the labor on a contractor right now.
Answer: If the wood fascia is in reasonable condition, it should stay. If it is rotting or otherwise in disrepair, it needs to come down, and you will need to replace it. The aluminum can't be hung on the rafter tails without something to back it up.
Your soffit needs to go up first. I can't tell if you already had new siding, soffit & fascia put up, although if you did it wouldn't make sense to be doing fascia cover now. Unless perhaps you had wood put up and want to cover it now? Anyway, soffit first, as the bottom of the fascia cover should overlap the bottom of the soffit to cover the exposed end.
Measure the height of your fascia board and the total lineal footage of fascia that you have. Go to a home center, or better yet a good lumber yard and get some pre-bent fascia cover. Look for a cover that is hemmed on the bottom edge (the aluminum is folded over so the raw edge is not exposed). Also, ribbed is best. It will have one or two ridges formed into the face. Helps keep it straighter and eliminates problems from expansion and contraction. You don't need a break, and really it is better than what is bent on the job because of the ribs.
Also, you will need stainless steel trim nails that are painted to match your trim. Aluminum nails will work, but they are a bear to drive in without bending half (or more) of them. Do not use galvanized nails, as you will soon have black streaks and eventually your fascia cover will fall down and make a clang. You will also need a hammer, a small handy square, a good utility knife and a decent pair of tin snips. The ones that look like gorilla scissors are best, they cut nice and clean.
Now, some instructions courtesy of the fine folks at Alcoa who happen to make really good siding and stuff. Fascia cover too, if you know anyone that needs some. http://www.alcoa.com/alcoahomes/objects/… This is a PDF file, not to big.
Hope this helps.
Question: How do I change the fascia on my Motorola V600? Does anyone know of any instructions on the net for changing the fascia covers on a motorola v600? I've searched and searched and can't find any!

Question: Does anyone know roughly how much replacing a section of wooden fascia will cost? Theres a small section of our wooden fascia which hs started to rot. Does anyone know roughly how much a tradesman will charge to repair and replace the bad section(about 1 foot). And how big a job it is? Also in the future im considering upvc replacement for all the fascias, will the existing wood all have to be removed?
Answer: Normally they nail upvc over top of your existing into your spar feet, where do you live, my boyfriend is offering his services (hes a roofing joiner!!!) you shouldnt be paying anymore than 50 quid including timber apparently, anymore than 40 is a rip off really....
Question: Should I paint my whole front fascia underneath the gutters or just the lip that hangs out? I'm getting my gutters done and the roofers wanted to know if I wanted to paint the entire fascia and hold off the gutter install or if they should install them and have me just paint the bottom. Does it matter either way?
Answer: If the paint and wood is in good shape & it's just a matter of color, then you can get away with only painting the bottom portion, but if you're going to be painting anyways you may as well just paint the whole thing and give the fascia that extra level of protection.
Question: Can you install vinyl soffit without removing the fascia? We are trying to install vinyl soffit to the house without removing the pre-existing fascia. Is that possible? And how would it be accomplished?
Answer: You can. It's like having a thousand coats of paints on it!
But its not advisable because it makes the timber behind the fascia sweat, which encourages it to rot. Which could cause you roofing problems later on.
Question: I think i'm starting to develop plantar fascia from running in my right foot. Best way to treat that? I wear excellent running shoes with SofSole Stability insoles which are the best. But I've still developed plantar fascia in the back of my right foot that gets sore. It'd not too bad now and only gets a little sore after I run. How can I either get rid of it or at least keep it from getting any worse?
Correction: Plantar fascitis, not Plantar fascia.
Answer: Firstly make sure that it is indeed Plantar fasciitis
Symptoms:
Pain at the base of the heel
pain is most severe in the mornings on getting out of bed, and at the beginning of a run.
Self-treatment:
Stop running, especially in the case of severe pain, if pain is mild, then reduce training load and intensity take a course (5 - 7 days) of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen/voltaren/cataflam/mobic) available from your general practitioner or pharmacist
Apply ice to the plantar fascia - for 10 minutes every 2 hours, in order to reduce the inflammation. An effective way of icing is to fill a plastic 500 ml Coke bottle with water, and to freeze it. Apply the ice as instructed by rolling the bottle under the foot
Self-massage, using arnica oil or an anti-inflammatory gel, to the plantar fasciastretching of the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles
Return to running gradually
Full recovery is usually between six to eight weeks

Question: should i use treated lumber for my fascia board? Im reroofing my roof and alot of the fascia board is bad. should i use treated lumber to replace it or can i get away with plain lumber? i will be painting it white.
Answer: no ,
for two or more reasons,
treated lumber is treated. so it can with stand ,the out side ,weather also ground contact ,
and it cost nearly twice what ,normal pine , 1x8 costs,
if you primer ,your pine, and give it two coats of paints before you hang it , it will go up faster, and only need a touch up,
painting treated lumber ,just would be a waste of your time,
further more , it weights a lot more than pine
Question: What is the reason Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial in DC is resting his hands on fascia? Kind of strange since the word "fascism" is derived from fascia.
Answer: Fascia, or "bundle", is a symbolic way of saying that in unity there is strength. No one rod in the bundle is all that strong, but together they can't be broken. Since he held the USA together, is is not inappropriate to use the symbol. Unfortunately, after the Civil War was over, others also used the same imagery to symbolize themselves...

Question: How to change my new fascia for my J600 samsung? Hi
I have just bought a new fascia or housing for my Samsung J600 and was wondering if anyone could show me how to dismantle it and fit the new one. Being a slide phone I know there are springs just weighting to pop out if I unscrew the wrong srew.
Thanks
Timbo
Answer: hi timbo
the samsung j700 is very hard to get a new fascia for the phone, but you can go to some of these market stalls who sell accessories and unlock phones. I did have a j700 once and got a nifty silvery black fascia, cost me £6 but the shop owner put it on for me.
good luck
Question: What is the name for gutters that are set about 12" on the roof rather than hanging from the fascia? My roof doesn't have gutters attached to the fascia board under the drip edge of the roof, Instead they are an upright piece of metal set back about 12" from the roof edge. i am trying to research the best way to repair them but don't know what they are called !
Actually they run the entire length of the roof and there are a couple of collectors along the length that come do to downspouts. It is the collector box that has rusted out and I was looking at trying to replace those
Answer: scubbards
Question: What color roof, siding and soffits and fascia goes well with red brick? The front lower half of the house is made of brick that's about 90% red and 10% white. We're going to redo the roof, siding and soffits & fascia. What colors will match the red bricks? We can get shutters in any color too...
Answer: if you live in an area where you can buy Tamko shingles, get the ''Walnut Black'' color. it's a ''black cherry'' looking shingle, and goes great with red brick houses. if you dont have Tamko brand where you live, go with Certainteed's ''Moire Black.'' i own a roofing company and those two are always my first suggestions to folks who have a red brick house.
Question: Please could someone tell me how to change the fascia on the Sony Ericsson C905? I bought a new fascia for my phone (C905) to change it pink and i have looked all over the internet to find out how to change it but have found nothing! Apparently I need a T6 screwdriver, but have not got a clue how to even get at the screws! Any tips?!
Answer: Hi to start with if the phone is still under warranty i would be very careful about changing the facia on it ! the reason i say this is if your phone develops a fault then it may invalidate the warranty on the phone because it could be looked as if the phones been tampered with ! i would either check with sony or your network provider to see how it stands if you get the facia changed especially if its not a genuine sony facia ! also if you do get it done i would advise you to take it to a professional to get it done as that way if it does get damaged in the process you can get them to sort the problem out ... hope this helps
