Tragus
A projection of cartilage in front of the opening of the ear canal
Question: tragus? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? does piercing your tragus hurt a lot? its the flappy part on your ear by your face.
Answer: It depends on your pain tolerance but I will say out of all the piercings I have had [[belly, tongue 2x, nose, and some ear piercings, and of course tragus]] that one is the piercing that did hurt the worse not trying to scare you but I heard the needle go through... but after awhile it will all be worth it. It did take me some time to get it fully healed but thats with any piercing. Be careful as well my friend got a keloid on hers.. just use green tea oil for that if that is to happen. But good luck with the piercing if you are getting it =] You will love it in the end!
Question: Tragus....? When you get a tragus piercing, do they always put in the hoop first.
Or can you get the stud liek this in when you get it done?
http://content.answers.com/main/content/…
Becasue i dont like the look of the hoop, but i do liek the stud!
And how much does it cost to get done?
Answer: You can get either a stud or a hoop as the initial jewelry.
A hoop is better, though. It leaves more room for swelling, but a stud is perfectly fine, you'll just have to wear it a bit looser than you normally would.
After it's done healing you can get it switched to a tighter stud.
It should cost you about $30 per ear.
Question: Can a Tragus ear piercing really affect your eating habits or metabolism? Hello guys
I have had this Tragus ear piercing for 4-5 months for now, and i love it .
But i am really skinny and am desperate to gain weight. So a chinesologist told me this thing about that the tragus ear piercing would affect my eating habits or something? (because of the place tragus's are placed in the ear)
So should i take it out to put on weight/fat to get a more curvy shape?
Answer: I'm not a doctor yet, but I'm pretty sure that getting a tragus piercing has nothing to do with eating habits (key word - habits) or metabolism.
What is a chinesologist, anyway?
Question: How long does a tragus piercing take to heal? I'm planning on getting my tragus pierced next week. I'm joining the armed forces 10 months from now and I'm worried it won't be healed by then. The only piercings they allow are ear lobes so if I have to take the one out of my tragus for 3 months I'm wondering if it will grow over or if there will be a problem. I hear they take 12-18 months to heal...
Thanks
Answer: No, you can't do it. I'm sorry. They take a while to heal and if you were to take it out for three months straight, chances are it WOULD close. Sorry.
Question: What jewelry do they ususally pierce the tragus with? When they pierce the tragus, what jewelry do they use? Is it always with a hoop, or could I get it pierced with a diamon stud? I want to get my tragus done but I don't want the hoop, I want the stud.
Thanks!
Answer: Most common jewelry is either a ring or a short bar, or stud as you call it.
Whichever jewelry you ultimately want, it's better to heal with a straight or slightly curved bar initially regardless. Your piercer will measure to work out the best bar length for you. You can then put a gem stud on the outer side of the bar, and a flat back on the inside, just like you would for a labret piercing.
You might have to buy a smaller bar once the initial swelling has gone to give a snug fit, especially if you use earphones.
A tip for fast healing of any cartilage piercing: find a piercer who can do the piercing with a dermal/biopsy punch. This removes the cartilage altogether rather than pushing out on it, and means your piercing should heal in a fraction of the time - perhaps a 3-4 months rather than close to a year. There will also be less pain both during and after the procedure.
Note that if you're in Florida (and perhaps certain other places of the world), you have no choice but to have a traditional needle piercing as biopsy punches are regarded as controlled medical tools.
Question: How long after getting a tragus piercing can i go swimming in a pool? I read that fresh piercings cant be exposed to chlorine. So how long do i have to wait after getting a piercing (tragus) before i can go swimming?
yes a tragus piercing.
yess Sox are friggin amazing! haha.
Answer: You should wait a few days to a week... you don't want to risk infection. Once it's heals a little, you will be fine... just as an added precaution, use peroxide or alcohol on it after swimming just to ensure no infection.
PS - Sox won again tonight... kicking a$$!!!!
:)
Question: How much does the anti tragus piercing hurt when compared to the tragus piercing? I got my tragus pierced about a month ago and was wanting to get my anti tragus pierced. Would someone compare the pain in the two?
Answer: Your anti-tragus may be more uncomfortable than your tragus due to it being piercing through thicker cartilage.
However if you want the piercing just remember that it is a few seconds of discomfort and then you get the piercing you want. I always find taking a deep breath and exhaling as the needle is pushed through takes my mind off any pain and discomfort.
Question: How can i help my tragus piercing to heal? I've just had my tragus pierced today, it looks so cute. I know to clean it twice a day with saline solution but what else can i do, im worried about it becoming infected. Thanks
Answer: The best way to heal a piercing it to leave it alone. Wash your hands before you clean it, and make sure that you wash ALL of the soap and conditioner out of your hair. Other then that, sea salt soaks are the best thing for piercings. Another way to help it is to apply hot compresses on t 1-2 times a day. This increases blood flow to the area, speeding up healing time a little.
Sea Salt Soak: 1. Wash your hands thoroughly with liquid antibacterial or antimicrobial soap (Satin and Provon are best).
2. Place a pinch of sea salt in the bottom of a small disposable cup. About 1/8 teaspoon.
3. Add hot tap water - as hot as you can stand - to the salt. Use about 3 ounces of water - which is just over half-full in a 5 ounce cup.
4. If possible, invert the cup right over the piercing and allow it to stay there for 5 minutes. This usually works well for nipple and navel piercings. If you can't create a sufficient seal against the skin with the cup, then soak a cotton ball in the salt water solution and apply the cotton ball to the piercing. When it cools down, throw it away and place a newly saturated cotton ball on the piercing. Do this for 5 minutes. 5. Rinse the piercing with warm water and dry with a clean paper towel.
Soaking Tips
• Only sea salt is to be used. Table salt is not acceptable. Sea salt can be found in many grocery stores and almost all health food stores.
• If you are not sure about the solution strength, put a dab on your finger and taste it with the tip of your tongue. It should be no saltier than a potato chip.
Question: How do I replace the jewelry in my tragus piercing? I had to take out my tragus piercing recently for a CAT scan, and I have had difficulty putting the the ring back in because it's so small. Does anyone have any hints for putting jewelry in a tragus piercing? It's a small, stainless steel ring with a ball.
Answer: ask a professional peircer, if you go to a peircing place they will probably be willing to put it in for you.
Question: What other ear piercing would look good with a tragus piercing? I have my tragus pierced and am now wanting either my inner conch, rook or daith pierced (all with bars not rings). What one would look better with my tragus?
Answer: I think that Rooks look good with Tragus piercings, but I've heard they can be problematic.
Question: What can you tell me about tragus piercings? I've wanted to get my tragus pierced for a while now, and I'm finally going to get it done. I just want some tips about preventing it from getting infected and whatever.
Answer: i just got mine done this summer, and i absolutely love it. i heard it was gonna hurt so bad, but personally mine did not hurt at all. the only thing was i could hear the skin crunch when it went through.
definately clean it as your piercer tells you to. and keep it up even after it is healed. don't be alarmed if there is some bleeding when you change it or pussing, just be sure to clean it often when this happens! and do not leave it out for any length of time, you would be surprised how fast it grows in!
i really hope you like it, and that this helped!
Question: Would it look similar if I got two tragus piercings instead of a dangerous vertical tragus piercing? I really like vertical tragus piercings, but they are surface bar piercings and my body would probably cause it to migrate, so I don't want to find out.
Instead of a vertical tragus, could I just get two tragus piercings instead to make it look like the same thing?
Answer: i think it would look as good yes, and still make you look like you have an edge
and instead of being dangerous it also looks very cool

Question: How much does a lip piercing hurt compared to a tragus piercing? I have my tragus pierced, and i want to get my lip pierced, im just wondering how much the lip piercing hurts compared to the tragus.
Answer: A lip piercing is not painful at all. I used to have mine pierced, and when i got it done i would honestly rate the pain as a 1/10. It pinched a tiny bit for about a second, but once the needle went through it felt like nothing had even just happened. If you want your lip pierced, definitely go for it! Don't let your fear of how much it'll hurt hold you back, because it really doesn't hurt much at all!
Question: How bad does a tragus piercing hurt? I'm planning on getting my tragus pierced and I was wondering how painful it is. If u have ur tragus pierced please let me know ur opinion. Thanks.
Answer: I have had my tragus pierced twice ( the first time my body rejected it and it came out )
I have to say it doesn't hurt that much. A lot of people think it would because of the thick cartilidge but honestly it wasn't as bad as you think! the pain on a scale of 1-10 I would say 5 or 6.. there is obviously some pain but it's really tolerable!
Good luck, tragus piercings rock!!
Question: How much does a lip piercing hurt compare to a rook or tragus piercing? I had my rook done yesterday, and my tragus done last week. My tragus didn't hurt at all, and my rook was a tiny bit worse, but neither really hurt at all. I want my lip done, but am scared it will hurt, does anyone have a lip piercing & a tragus and/or rook piercing?
Answer: I had my lip pierced and still have a tragus pierced and i found the tragus to be a LOT worse then the lip. If you didn't find the tragus to be painful then you should be fine getting your lip done.
Have fun :)

Question: Is a tragus piercing equal to the pain of a cartilage piercing? And if you know, does Claires pierce tragus? I know that they don't peirce the inside of the ear.
Answer: For me, my cartilage hurt more than my tragus. Especially afterwards. Claire's does not pierce traguses, but local tattoo shops usually do. Make sure you go to a good place that uses sterilized needles and clean instruments. Make sure you also keep the piercing clean to avoid infection.
Question: How long does it take for the tragus peircing to heal? I want to get my tragus peirced but I am afraid that it wont have time to heal. I start a sport in July and then start the season not till september. I am hoping it will have time to heal at least in time for september.
Answer: oh it'll definitely heal by september as long as you take good care of it. I got mine done in late march and it's been completely healed since last month. they'll probably put a hoop in it because those are easier to keep clean and keep your ear uninfected. you'll need to use bactine spray on it each day and twist the hoop BUT DON'T MESS WITH IT! I got into a habit of playing with mine and twisting it and that made it reeeally tender because it was still healing, so that could've added onto the time mine took to heal. just take good care of it and you'll have no problems. of course it's going to be a little swollen for a couple of weeks and a little sensitive..any piercing would be. but healed by september? definitely.
Question: What are some concerns with getting your tragus pierced? Today I am getting my first two piercings, my tragus and cartlidge on my left ear. What I can do to keep both of the piercings from getting infected? Also, are there any other things I should be concerned about?
Answer: As long as you clean it how your piercer tells you, it should be fine. Make sure to do this because a lot of piercings through the cartilage (like tragus) will get little bumps called keloids if you don't. Mine got that but I cleaned it more and it went away. Also for like the first two weeks you probly won't be able to out in headphones on that side. over all, theres not much trouble with it. good luck[:
