Question: What would it take to correct an overbite? I'm going into college next semester and I really want to correct my overbite. But I also don't really want to have to get braces again, but I have a feeling it's one of the only solution. How long would I have to wear them? Are they only on the top, bottom, or both? Do I have to get jaw surgery after that to fix the overbite? Can I just get jaw surgery without braces? What's the best way to go about fixing, in general?
Answer: Braces, i had them and a palet expander, i had that too.
Question: How do I fix my overbite without braces or invisalign? I am 16 and after wearing braces for 2 years i have an overbite again. My Orthodontist said my tongue moved my teeth. I fixed my tongue problem but now i want a non-braces or non-invisalign fix. Someone please help.
Answer: did you wear your plate? they shouldnt have moved back if you wore your plate?
invisilign only straighten teeth to fix overbite braces are needed.
bad new lol
good luck
Question: How can I fix my overbite without closing the gap between my teeth? I have a very slight overbite which nobody notices but me. It's starting to bug me so I'd like to correct it; however, I don't want to close the gap between my 2 front teeth.
The gap is hereditary.
I DON'T want to close the space. I just want to get rid of the small overbite.
Answer: Slight overbite that means about 2-3mm overbite?
Orthodontic concerns should be well addressed to an Orthodontist. Ask a referral from your dentist. You come in for a consultation and the orthodontist will evaluate your case. (procedure, cost and time involve)
Braces can resolve the problem as well as bite plane (an appliance)
GOOD LUCK :)
Question: Is there another way to fix an overbite other than getting braces? My teeth are all pretty straight, it's just that I have an overbite. Is there another way to fix it other than having to get braces? Is that way any cheaper, and how long would it take to fix it? I don't want to get surgery though.
Answer: No. Braces aren't that bad though.
Question: How long does it take to get an overbite fixed? My teeth are perfectly straight with the exception of an overbite.
I pretty much look like a beaver, but at least my teeth are crooked...
With braces, how long would it take to fix my overbite?
Also, are there any other options (that aren't crazy expensive) that would be able to fix my overbite by the beginning of September next year?
Answer: It usually depends on your growth pattern and age. If you are in growing age then it takes less but if you are already mature (bone growth wise) then, it might take longer.
Yes there are other options like active retainers which incorporate active components and they cost less, but again the decision to use them or fixed braces lies with the orthodontist.
Question: How much does Invisalign cost for slight overbite? I've already had braces many years ago and I still put on my retainers every night. My teeth are straight but I still have a very slight overbite (because I got my braces taken off a couple months early)..
How much would it cost to fix my overbite?
I'm guessing that I would need just a couple trays.
Thank you!
Answer: You can easily check your minimal health care rates in internet, for example here - health-quotes.isgreat.org
Question: How long does it take to fix a crossbite and overbite with braces? I have a cross bite and an overbite, how long will approximately will I have my braces on? I haven't gotten them on yet, we will find out the date to get them on the 30th of this month.
Answer: first of all they will have to get your teeth straight because they cant attempt to sort your bite when your teeth arent in line
after this they will start to sort out your bite...
i cant tell you any more than this without seeing your case, but the average time to wear braces is 18 months, however many people have braces ofr as little as 6 months and maybe up to 5 years, it depends entirely on your circumstances. assuming your bite and teeth arent too bad, it shouldnt take too long.
Question: How can i get my overbite fixed without braces? I am 15 years old and a sophomore in highschool and i have a pretty bad overbite. When you look at my face from the side my upper lip jets out further than my lower one and it looks bad. I will do anything pther than braces. Would invisalign fix it?
Answer: Unfortunately, Invisalign does not fix overbites because it does not move your teeth the way braces with elastics do. Invisalign only 'aligns' or straightens your teeth. Braces are the better method to correct overbites and underbites and are also faster and cheaper If your overbite is corrected but you still want to keep straightening teeth you can then switch to Invisalign if you want to. If you really don't want braces you can get jaw surgery to move your lower jaw forward and make the overbite smaller but braces are the only ones that actually correct the overbite. And your only 15, if you only have an overbite you should get the braces off before you're 18.
Question: What other problems would come of not having a severe overbite corrected? I am almost 40, I currently have braces to correct my extremely crooked teeth, but my orthodontist wants me to have jaw surgery to correct my severe overbite. I can't take time off work, and I can't handle any more debt on my income. I just need to know if it will actually be worth it to go through a surgery that my insurance most likely won't cover.
Answer: That is a hard question to answer since no two people will have the same experience. Generally speaking, excess overjet (overbite) causes more wear and tear on teeth, you may need more dental work like fillings, root canals or crowns due to the teeth wearing improperly from being in a bad bite. Also there is more wear and tear on the tempromandibular joint because the teeth have to function in a way that is less than ideal. The joint more easily becomes distressed and you may experience pain, popping or locking of the jaw. If you had a crystal ball you would know if you should do the surgery, it is a really tough thing to do. The surgery will be difficult and the recovery long, but every patient thinks it's worth it in the end. If you don't do the surgery now, you would have to redo your ortho later in life if you choose to do it then. So if you are considering it, I would do it while in treatment, but only you know if you can go through with it at this time in your life.
Question: What information can you give me about a doxie with an overbite? I'm just looking for some info on it. I just brought home a little girl with an overbite. I've heard that it can cause her problems eating, although she seems to show none right now. I've also heard that she can grow out of it, but I haven't been able to find any info that confirms or denys that. Any additional info that you might have would be great! Thanks in advance!
Answer: Some large breeds overbites will grow out by the time they get all their adult teeth in (by 6 months old).

Question: How long would you have to wear braces in order to fix a slight overbite? I have a slight overbite and my front teeth are a bit spacey. I want to get braces but I don't want to wear them for too long. In general, how long does it take for braces (the old fashioned metal and rubber band kind) to fix an overbite?
Answer: I have them at the moment, I've had them since 2nd March 2007, and I get them out this September-October. Treatment time is usually 1 and 1/2 years. About the head gear thing, that might be an american thing I don't kno. But here in england you can get headgear but they're not really for overbites. You have these little hooks on your braces already so then you get elastic bands over both and it pulls the teeth back into line with the other row of teeth. That's how they fix an overbite here. My friend has a major one that she could stick her thumb up through but all she has is them bands, no headgear.
Question: What is needed to get rid of an overbite? hi, i have an overbite (not anything major, but..) and i was wondering, is it a retainer that fixes overbites, and if not, what does? because I've been getting my teeth cleaned by my dentist and am going back to my orthodontist soon and I think we were planning on getting rid of my overbite (or wisdom teeth) next.. but my chin is growing i think (i'm 18) but i think my overbite is conflicting with it because i feel like stretching my jaw into the correct position constantly (just so it feels better).. thanks
also, on average how long do you need to wear a retainer to fix an overbite?
and i've already worn braces, i got them off this year
Answer: everyone is diff. braces helped me.
Question: How can you tell when your overbite is gone? I have braces and I have to wear rubber bands to fix my overbite, as soon as the overbite is gone I can get my braces off! So is there anyway I can tell when my overbite is gone without going to the orthodontist? I'm getting super anxious! Thank You!
Answer: Don't worry it'll happen. If you don't have to get surgery to correct it like I did it means its pretty minor anyway.
Plus you're on your final stages of orthodontics here.
Question: How long would you have to wear braces to fix an overbite? My overbite is about 1/2 a thumb nail width. What are some options in fixing this? Thanks in advance!
Answer: your best choice is to get braces and if you get them to fix an over bite it will take about 3-4 years at the most.
Question: How do the dentist notice my big overbite? I have a overbite , they tranferred me to a pediatric dentist , How to they get my X rays ?
Answer: idk but all i know is your getting braces
Question: Can speed braces work to fix an overbite? I have a overbite and tooth spacing. I want to know if i would be a good canidate for speed braces to fix this.
Answer: braces don't actually fix overbite, they give you small rubber band things to put into your braces to fix under/over bite
Question: How long will it take to fix my overbite if i wear my rubber bands constantly? I have a slight overbite; how long will it take for it to fix if i wear my rubber bands constantly? I wear my rubber bands every single moment and I only take them off to brush my teeth and eat. I even chew gum with them on!! How long do you THINK it will take for it to be fixed??
Answer: It completely depends on how bad it is. it only took me one month when i had them and i always wore them. it will be 100000000x faster if you always have them in.
Question: Is it possible to get rid of overbite without fixed braces? I would love to sort out my overbite before I get older (am 19 now) but I really don't want fixed braces if I can help it. I've been reading a lot about invisible braces which sound amazing and also the ones you can just remove when you need to. Anything but fixed ones!
Answer: if your overbite is not really large, invisalign (the removable clear braces) should be enough to help you out. they don't take longer than traditional braces, and are much much better, especially for older teens and adults, because you can't see them! they also cost about the same as regular braces. good luck!
Question: How well does Invisalign treat deep overbite? Some people have reported that it doesn't work as well as micro implants. I have deep overbite and I want to find out what would be better to get to treat it. Micro implants look painful and I'm also quite self conscious about how I look I don't want to look ugly. There have been others who've claimed that invisalign worked fine for them when treating deep overbite. So what do I believe?
Answer: weigh up the positives and negatives for both
then your own gut feeling
then your dentists opinion (or whoever does the work on your overbite)
then maybe other poeples stories
chances of failure or success?
then finally you'll be able to mke your choice.
Good Luck!
Much Love
