Laser
Acronym for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. Used to resurface skin; remove unwanted veins, hair, blemishes, and tattoos; and make incisions that bleed very little.
Question: laser/////////? can anyony tell me the distance of a 10mw green laser can anyone tell me how many miles is that if it is any or how can i make it more powerfull as same as a red ond
Answer: At night you should be able to see the beam itself for probably a hundred meters if you are looking along the beam path.
You can see the beam spot on an object for probably a mile or more. You will be able to see it much farther than you would see a red laser of the same power since you see green light approx. 20 times better than you see red.
10 mW is a pretty powerful laser if it is a laser pointer. It would be categorized as a Class 3b laser and if it is a pointer is currently illegal to sell or import into the US.
If you are planning on using outside be VERY careful. It is a felony to illuminate an aircraft and in some places police are authorized to shoot if they illuminated.
Question: Can multiple lasers of the same strength overlap each other while retaining each individuals laser's strength? Also, if multiple lasers of the same strength overlapped each other would they meld into one laser of the strength of an idividual laser or slightly increase in strength from the lasers grouping together due to overlapping?
What would happen if multiple lasers of different strength hit each other at the same time? Would the strongest laser override the weaker lasers?
Answer: Only if the phases match precisely, otherwise they will destructively interfere and reduce the yield. Coherent combination of lasers is an active are of research, especially with fiber lasers, to increase the power output.
Think of it as two water waves combining.
Question: How well does laser scar removal work? I have a really bad keloid scar on my chest due to surgery. I've tried Mederma, silicone sheets, and even steroid injections, but nothing seems to help. I was wondering if laser scar removal will have better effects. My dermatologist said that effects would be similar to those of steroid injections, and that the laser can flatten the scar but would not help with the discoloration. Is this true? Has anyone had experience where the laser flattened the scar and reduced discoloration? And has anyone tried both a laser and steroid injections and found that a laser works better? Thanks for your input.
Answer: Ever considering doing Chemical peel?
Question: What is the difference of laser propulsion or pulsed lasers? What is better? And what do you see NASA using in 50 or 100 years from now laser propulsion or pulsed lasers.
Would laser propulsion or pulsed lasers bring the cost of going up in space down.
Answer: Neither seems very viable as far as I can tell. Ion propulsion seems the best bet or solar sails for actual travel.
As for getting up there I would go with the Space Elevator idea as the most economical.
Question: Laser surgery is the only way to get rid of the scars completely? Any side effects? I have a big thick scar that has been bothering me for over a year. I heard of Bio Oil, but I don't think it'll get rid of that scar completely.
So is laser surgery the only way to get rid of that scar? If not, then what other ways are there? Will there be any side effects from laser surgery?
Answer: Yes there can be many side affect from laser surgery. And you have to really look after your skin (like not go into direct sunlight.) The best advice I can give you is to consult your doctor b4 you do anything.
Question: Does the laser surgery for acne scars work good? Im thinking about getting laser surgery for my acne scars because ive tried everything and nothing seems to work. It really bothers me, so im wondering if the laser surgery is worth getting to clear my scars. Thanks!
Answer: Acne is caused due to the wrong food habits and improper skin care. It is also caused due to hormonal changes. Another important cause is the high level of insulin produced by processed carbohydrates. This excess level of insulin creates blockage in pores and extra oil under the skin. Acne is an extreme condition of sebaceous glands. When hair follicles are plugged with Acne Marks or Scars
dead cells and sebum, acne is formed. There are many ways to eliminate acne scars at home.
Question: What is the model of green laser pointer that is easiest to modify? I have a laser pointer with a green beam, but in spite of what I've read, I can't for the life of me get the end cap off. Now I remember reading an article and it says don't use the model with a power on indicator LED. Use the model without this indicator. They even listed a specific and model or green laser pointer. Now I can't find that article. Please let me know what model of green laser pointer is easiest to open and remove the laser module assembly from it.
Answer: Look on instructables.com. The criteria I remember is something about a chip on the board inside. That was a long while ago tho. Probably different now.

Question: What is the lowest milliwatt laser that can burn? Very intrested in lasers and extremely intrested in which ones burn stuff. I just bought a 5mw green laser and I saw some stuff on the internet about how to take it apart and make it powerful enough to start matches. But I want to know what the lowest milliwatt has to be before it becomes a laser that can burn. Just so I dont get suckered into buying a 300mw because its the only one that advertises it can burn.
Answer: try this
Question: How many states are laser jammers illegal in? How many states are laser jammers (police lasers) illegal in? And where can I get proof of how many states they are illegal in? Since yahoo answers responses aren't exactly proof. Something I could print of the internet would be good, like a list of laws or something.
Answer: I dont have the law, but in virgina radar/lidar detectors AND jammers are illegal. I know several people who have had their equip confiscated just driving through their.
Question: What kind of a laser pointer will I need to pop a balloon? I've seen web vids of people using green lasers to pop balloons from a short distance. I've seen some 5mw, 532nm green laser pointers that run anywhere from $10-$20 on ebay. Would those be able to to do this? How close would I have to be to pop a balloon? Also, how does a 5mw differ from a 10 or a 15? Thanks.
Answer: According to the website of the currently-popular laser pointer manufacturer, it takes a 75mW laser to pop balloons, which is 15 times more powerful than that 5mW pointer on eBay. It will also cost you $160.
No 5mW, or even 15 mW, laser will do it. It just doesn't produce a high enough energy density in the beam to produce heat that can't be dissipated by the rubber. A 5 mW will make a spot that you can see - and not much else. A 15mW would make a spot that's perhaps more visible in daylight.
Incidentally, have you noticed that warning label they put on them? It doesn't take very much power to permanently blind you (or at least cause permanent "pinhole spot" vision loss) - from random reflections. So if you're playing with a laser that's much more powerful than 10 or 15 mW, remember to wear the dorky safety glasses that come with them.
Question: Does laser hair removal work for darker skinned people without discoloring their skin? I've heard several women with darker skin say that in the past doctors have said that the laser hair removal treatment would create light spots on their skin where the treatment took place.
Has this changed? Is it possible to get it done without damaging the pigmentation of my skin. Please site a source.

Question: Is laser eye surgery is good for whose having sight problem? Or is there any exercise to reduce the sight? Is laser eye surgery is good for whose having sight problem? Or is there any exercise to reduce the sight? Can any one give me a suggestion?
Answer: Laser eye surgery restores vision.
Question: What to do before laser hair removal appointment? Ok, I have an appointment Friday for some laser hair removal. Am I supposed to shave my legs like normal, or am I supposed to leave some stubble so the laser has something to zap at. I don't want to show up unprepared either way. Thanks for the help!
Answer: Hi!
Before getting treated, you should shave the area 1-3 days before your appointment. Do not use any other methods of removing hair at least 4-6 weeks prior. Laser hair removal works by targeting hair shafts and destroying them. The laser needs a root to target and destroy. Shaving cuts excess hair allowing the laser to concentrate its energy on the root only, not wasting any energy on hair above the skin’s surface; waxing or other methods of hair removal pull the hair and root out, leaving nothing for the laser to target.
For areas such as the bikini area for women and the neckline for men, if you have hard to see hair, it is best to shave closer to 3 days before your treatment so that some stubble grows back and the specialist can follow your hairline.
Avoid the sun, as the paler your skin, the more effective the laser treatment, as the laser is designed to target the melanin in your hair. An increase in melanin in your skin as a result of sun exposure will reduce the effectiveness of the laser. You should also avoid using self-tanning creams and sprays.
Do not apply any makeup, lotions or creams immediately prior to your appointment.
The same guidelines apply between treatments. Be sure to ask your specialist what to expect and if there are any other special preparations he or she would like you to take. An open dialogue with your specialist is key to a good experience and great results.

Question: How Laser hair restoration is different from other hair transplant treatments? I am planning to go for a treatment of hair loss so I am little puzzled which treatments to go for, laser hair restoration or some other. Please help me.
Answer: Laser hair restoration can be a good option for individuals having problem of hair loss. There are some other treatment also but it is much more effective than any other treatment because of the reason that it is cost effective and does not involve any sort of medicinal treatment on a regular basis. The post laser treatment visits are for a very brief time period and the entire treatment process is painless.
Laser treatments can be of different types.
1. The Laser Luce LDS 100®
2. Low-Level Laser Therapy
3. Home Laser Hair Therapy Device
4. Laser hair restoration, etc.

Question: Whats the difference between laser liposuction AND laser lipolysis? Also, is it a bit risky undertaking laser liposuction when its quite a new procedure?
Answer: I have been working with laser lipolysis equipment for several years and here is my opinion. The laser is used to melt and disrupt the fat before the it is taken out and this makes laser lipolysis more gentile then traditional liposuction alone. Most laser lipolysis procedures are performed under local anesthesia (your awake) making the procedure less risky than traditional liposuction often performed under general anesthesia, so recovery with laser lipolysis is quicker. Laser lipolysis has also been shown to tighten tissues such as skin, up to 57% more than liposuction, so it's often used for areas of skin laxity and not as much fat such as the aging neck. Smartlipo, the first laser lipolysis technology introduced has actually been used since 2002 - so there are 8 years of clinical study and more than 40 clinical references siting the use of Smartlipo.
Question: What is the minimum power of laser pointer that could pop a balloon? Just wondering what would be the minimum power of laser pointer that could pop a balloon? What would be the minimum power of laser pointer that could make a hole in a bin liner? What would be the minimum power of laser pointer that could light a match?
Answer: To pop balloons with a laser pointer, you would need a green laser pointer 95mW or above. A tip about popping balloons is to use only black colored balloons. If your balloon is not black, color the balloon with a black marker.
Another trick is to use a magnifying glass to focus the laser pointer's beam. If you use a magnifying glass, you may get away with popping balloons with a 55mW to 75mW laser pointer.

Question: How far does the laser from a laser pointer go? If there were people on the moon for example, could they see my laser pointer if I somehow managed to aim it on the surface close to where they were standing?
And light is just made up of photons, so could one actually count the # of photons in a beam of light? I mean theoretically, are photons quantifiable?
Answer: People on the Moon would probably not be able to see your pointer. The beam from even the best lasers diverge somewhat so by the time light from a pointer reaches the distance of the Moon the intensity would be too low to be detected by eye. I'm sure there are some instruments that would be able to detect the light however.
I suppose you could count the # of photons in a beam of light. Some astronomical instruments detect only a very few photons from far away objects. Since the energy of a photon is h x f where h is Plank's constant and f is the frequency and since lasers are nearly monochromatic--one frequency--we could measure the intensity of the laser and divide by the energy of each photon and 'calculate' the # of photons.
Question: How many laser sessions will it take to remove this tattoo? Its on my neck. About 2" by 2" has black blue and yellow. It's two years old and I am getting laser surgery to remove it. Any idea how many sessions it will take?
I don't need a lecture. I need to get it removed for the military. I don't wamt to remove it, I have to to enlist.
Answer: We have a recruitment center we work with. They bring us recruits for cover ups and turning, for example two close together tattoos into a single tattoo to meet certain guidelines.
I am not sure about that branch of service but we have referred recruits to laser centers we know. We have been told that if you have even one laser treatment, it shows you have started removal and they will take you. Check that out. Your blue will take the longest to get out. It can take even ten sessions.
It is my personal opinion that the laser folks are doing far too many sessions too close together. I believe if they were spread out a lot further apart, there would still be the same amount of color absorption by the body at a significant savings.
