Brachioplasty
Surgery on the arm: usually the upper arm to remove excess skin and fat
Question: What is the average cost of(brachioplasty) arm reduction surgery?
Answer: "According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) the average fee charged by the surgeon nationally in 1998 for an upper arm lift was $2,820. Ask your surgeon about costs. Most surgeons offer convenient payments plans for this procedure. "
Add 8 years and you're looking at about $4,000-$6,000.
Question: What other cosmetic surgery/treatments exists for arms other than brachioplasty?
Answer: Amputation.
Question: Has anyone had a brachioplasty or an arm lift? I lost a lot of weight and need to have the excess skin removed from under my arm - has anyone had this done and is it worth it with the scar that is left?
Answer: I saw it on tv and there was a nasty scar left..but I would have the extra skin removed.
Question: What is the cost of Brachioplasty (Arm Reduction) surgery ?
Answer: Many patients travel from United States of America and UK to get low cost of Brachioplasty (Arm Reduction) surgery in India. One of the most frequently asked questions when considering Removal of Brachioplasty (Arm Reduction) surgery is "how much?" and “what is the price of surgery in India?”
Oftentimes, patients choose their surgeon on the basis of price.
The cost of Brachioplasty (Arm Reduction) surgery is very affordable in India and costs are much lower when compared to the United States, UK and other countries. However, since the success of your surgery is largely dependent on your choice of surgeon, cost should not be your main consideration for your decision to undergo Brachioplasty (Arm Reduction) surgery in India.
I checked out the website of Forerunners Healthcare –which is the premier most medical tourism company in India offering low cost surgery in India to International Patients. In India, any licensed medical doctor can perform Brachioplasty (Arm Reduction) surgery. To avoid unsatisfactory results, it is best to choose a surgeon who has completed an accredited residency-training program in Brachioplasty (Arm Reduction) surgery. He should have extensive experience in the procedure you will undergo. That’s when Forerunners Healthcare come into picture-helping you get the best surgeon for your surgery at the most affordable prices in the best Hospitals of India.
Your surgeon's skill can make all the difference between a good and an average result. Thus, although it is understandable that price is one of the considerations in your choice of surgeon, it is important to remember that the main consideration should be your surgeon's professional qualifications and experience.
Besides that you should look into other issues related to traveling abroad, which is your visa, passport, climate, cultural issues and language barrier. Although language is not a problem in India –as most of the people are well verse in English. But you should make sure that you have a reliable hand holding person to guide you through the various steps of getting medical treatment and surgery in India.
Hope this helps.

Question: Opinions on Brachioplasty Should I or Shouldn't I? I was a size 18 now I am a size 4. I lost 84 pounds. I exercise and eat right on a daily basics. I have been trying to get my body in shape for the past 2 years and the 2 areas that I can not get rid of the excess skin is my stomach and arms.
I recently went to a board-certified cosmetic surgeon specializing in body contouring. My husband and I both had a lot of questions about the process.
After the visit I have decided to get a tummy tuck and possibly Brachioplasty which is removal of the excess skin under the arms.
I am on the fence about this. I do have excess skin and I know I can not tone it any more than it is now. The muscles in the arms are defined and then you see a little skin hanging. What is really concerning me is the scarring. The cut will run from under my arm to my elbow. I am very fair skin. I don't know if this scar will be worth me getting this done or not. If I do get all of the surgery done at once I will be saving abot $2,200 on the brachioplasty. HELP ADVICE
Answer: My opinion is that it's completely worth it.
As long as you've got the money and YOU think it's a good option.
You've already worked so hard to get the body you want, why stop now?
To me, the scar does not seem like a big deal. The placement of it seems ideal actually, if there's a perfect place to have a large scar.
There are also some very, very good products I have used to rid the appearance of scars.
Good ol' vitamin E cream, as well as products designed specifically for scars.
Sunscreen's also a MUST. Especially while it's healing.
Every day, even if you're indoors or wearing long sleeves.
Hope I've helped, that was quite a jumble.
Question: What to do about Brachioplasty Scars? Just over 2 weeks ago I had a brachioplasty (arm lift). I have scars that go from elbow to armpit on both arms. My doc says mederma really doesn't work (after I bought it of course). He says the silicon sheets do help, but I wanted to know if anyone could recommend any particular brands (and places to get them) that work best? I'm going to see my boyfriend in Sweden in 7 weeks. I'm hoping to try and get the scars to at least be flat and somewhat reduced in color by the time of my trip so I can sport some cute tops!
I've read mixed reviews on ScarFX and ScarGuard. I know Neosporin has a scar solution thing. But i'm not sure which to invest in. I've also heard using the sheets plus a lotion will help a lot. Anyone know of a silicon gel I can rub on that works well and might be able to be worn under make up? (in case the scars are still far too red and I need to dab 'em with some concealer). Does anyone have any recommendations? Please help me!
Answer: I don't know if any research has been done with regards to this cream's ability to heal scars, but it has been proven to have a positive effect on stretchmarks, so maybe.
At least you could try to check it out and see if it might help.
It's called crème métamorphique from a company called Beauté Pacifique. It's main active ingredient is vitamin A.
But, even if it does work on scars, it probably won't have made any difference in just 7 weeks, what I've heard about the stretchmark effect is after about 6 months...:-(
Best of luck, I hope you succeed in finding something. If you do, I'd love to hear about it.
And have a wonderful trip to Sweden, going there soon myself :-)
Question: I had brachioplasty surgery 3 weeks ago and was prescribed oxycotin for pain relief following.? I haven't taken it for almost a week since the pain is starting to subside. I took it twice a day (325 mg x 2), probably 3-4 days a week, for 2 weeks. I am also on an antibiotic (cephalexin) 3 times a day for probably the next 2 weeks or so.
I'd like to start trying to get pregnant, but I don't want to even try till I feel these drugs are all out of my system. What are your thoughts? How long should I wait? Can I try while still on the antibiotic?
Answer: I hope your surgery went well. Oxycontin is a narcotic and can stay in your bloodstream for a LONG time. I suggest that you complete the entire coarse of antibiotics as presribed and once you get surgical clearance, consult you OB/Gyn physician. One thing at a time. Get well, fully recover, THEN get a clean start for starting a family. Good luck and God Bless.

Question: How many lbs of sagging skin can approximately be removed by having cosmetic surgery after major weight loss? I am a 27 year old woman who has lost over 154 lbs through diet and exercise. I am very happy with that but, unfortunately, not as happy as I thought I'd be due to my sagging, excess skin. I am 5'6 and 160 lbs right now and people are telling me I shouldn't lose any more weight but I still feel overweight and I wonder if I should lose more weight because I estimate that with plastic surgery 15-20 lbs of loose skin will be removed and I'd weigh about 140 lbs. I'd love to have plastic surgery but I'm scared and don't have a lot of money to pay for it but am going to make an appointment with the surgeon (which is a client of where I work) to have an evaluation and see what he says. I want to have an arm lift (brachioplasty) at least (which is what I can probably only afford now). Can anyone give me his/her opinion and whether or not I should lose more weight? Thanks!
Ronak I have lost the weight. Did you even read my question and explanation? Some people.
Rony or Ronak
Answer: I would not suggest gettin surgery on your skin, and the reason for this is that your skin will be scarred from the surgery, even though it may only be a medium size scar, it's still a scar! I would suggest the best and natural route, and exercising to lose that excess skin. Exercising will tone it up and make your skin tighter and more toned. Cardio would be the best way to go! Do running for about 20-30 mins a day or cycling. An even better exercise would be swimming as this tones up all the loose areas. It all depends on if you feel comfortable with your body when swimming. Also keep your diet healthy and eat plenty fruit/veg as these foods contain the essential nutrients needed to keep skin looking good, but aswell as good food, you need to be drinking lots of water (2-3litres a day) should be fine. Water will help to rid the body of toxins, and will help your skin feel and look tighter and smoother. I hope this helps and good luck.
Question: Get rid of flabby arms resembling loose skin? I'm young, around 19 years old. I'm really thin and slender (BMI around 16.8).
My arms are flabby as if they have loose skin. If I shake my arms, they wobble a lot underneath like I have 1-inch bat wings. It's been that way ever since maybe because of genes. I've seen some relatives with similar features.
Is it possible to shrink or 'tighten' it through exercise, if so, can you suggest some? Or does something like this already require something like brachioplasty? I'm not considering surgery as an option. Just want to know if I can shrink it since I'm so thin already and it's been there since my early teens. It might worsen when I get older.
Answer: Take two pound weights (or waterbottle or can goods) and do forward and backward arm circles.
Question: I feel guilty about possibly accepting help from my grandfather that includes plastic surgery? I am fifteen years old, and have recently lost somewhere between fifty & sixty pounds within the last couple of years. Because of this, I have flabby arms that prevent me from wearing anything I want to - dresses, tank-tops, etc. I am very self conscious about it, and because of it usually resort to wearing hoodies, even in the summer.
Today my mother was talking to her dad about dieting, exercising, etc. Something came up about myself and my mom mentioned that I want to get brachioplasty (removal of underarm skin). My grandfather told us to look into it, and offered to pay for the surgery.
My grandfather helps my family out a lot, and I feel extremely guilty accepting help from him. He owns his own business and is VERY financially stable, and he can definitely afford it, but I still feel guilty. He's a great guy and I know he wants me to be confident and happy, but I just don't know if I should accept this help.
What is your opinion? What should I do?
God bless!
Answer: if i was in your shoes, i'd be forever grateful. that's going to help your self-esteem, and that's an example of successful psychological therapy, i'd be forever in his debt.
i would definitely be more than happy and glad to do something like that for my grandkids. i'm sure he offered to pay because he WANTS to help.
Question: Question about hurting arm from playing baseball. Need help from other 14 year olds.? Okay, I'm currently in the middle of surgery, operating on an arm from a pitcher, damaged during a game. I really need help on this extended Brachioplasty. I have the standard t-shape incision that extends from the axilla to the elbow and started using the Ashurf technique but midway through surgery, I've started thinking that perhaps the Borland graff technique might be more practical. Sure, it requires more clamps and there's a bigger chance of clotting and I've never been good with a Pre-looped Intracorporeal Knot, and the possibilities of infection, hematoma, and seromas make me a little nervous, yet the end result could be better or if I go the Fantorgous lateral procedure, it could create issues down the road with the Infraspinatus and teres minor swelling that could require more surgery. Do you think I'm using the apropos technique for this particular surgery?
Answer: Yeah, I think the Borland graff technique would be the most successfull because the t incision has already been made, thus preparing the skin for the grafting. Good luck buddy, hope it all works out!
