Question: Where can I get the computer-imaging software that surgeons use during a cosmetic surgery consultation? When you go to a cosmetic surgery consultation, one thing the surgeon often does is show you what you could possbly look like after the surgery using imaging software. It is a computer program similar to Photoshop. It might actually be Photoshop, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know where I can get this software? If I could get it for free, that would be even better! I would like to have cosmetic surgery and would like to learn more about the potential results I could achieve. Thanks a million!
Answer: One of the computer imaging softwares that plastic surgeons use is called AlterImage. It is quite expensive and not practical for patients to buy. It is better to just consult with a plastic surgeon and have him use his software. Or, if you really want to do it yourself, you can really actually use Photoshop. It does work in a similar way. Just makes it simpler for the plastic surgeons to learn.
Question: Dermatologist in San Francisco bay area using photography or computer imaging for skin cancer screening? With blond hair, blue eyes, and lots of freckles, I am considered a high risk skin cancer contender. I have been doing a good deal of reading and it sounds as if most dermatologists cannot detect the very early forms of skin cancer, such as lesions under 3mm. I am looking for any recommendations in the bay area of dermatologists that use photographic imaging or computer mapping to aid in diagnosis and monitoring. Someone on the peninsula would be ideal. Thanks!
Answer: I'm not to sure but maybe seek more opinions?
Question: Does anybody know of a good desktop computer for imaging programs? I'm purchasing a desktop computer in a month or so, but the websites are being very vague about explaining what terms mean or how they relate to the preformance of the computer.
What I need is a good desktop computer that can effectively browse the internet, process text, and run imaging programs, like photoshop and Macromedia Flash MX.
I don't play a lot of PC video games, so a super graphics card is not needed, just one that will support a fair amount of cartooning/image editing.
I also do a lot of web design, but all I use for that is notepad and Firefox, and those are not hard to run on the computer I have now (which is fairly low-end)
The most important aspects are that it runs well with image programs, microsoft office (no mac/linux-related suggestions, please), and various internet browsers.
Answer: I would have to recommend Dell here. With their solid build quality, great pricing and nice wide screen monitors for the best price/performance ratio anywhere it is a strong choice.
I would look at a system with at least a
2.0ghz core 2 duo [dual core, great for rendering and processing effects]
2gb memory. you will be happy to have this. vista and anything else for a long time will just hum away
big hard drive, 300gb+ , not expensive as you would thing.
monitor: dell 2400fpw, i have one, awesome monitor.. just spectacular resolution and detail along with oogles of screen realstate.
video: dedicated, not onboard, nvidia most likely.
Question: What is a name for a computer program plastic surgeons use to do computer imaging before the surgery? For example, plastic surgery on the nose
Answer: The most commonly used program is called "Mirror Image". Its a digital imaging program.
Most of the time, the image is sent to a lab, where programs who are experienced in reconstructive surgery digitally alter the picture.
Question: How much does it cost to get a plastic/reconstructive surgery computer imaging evaluation/consultation done?
Answer: any reputable doctor should not charge you for the consultation. I have had one procedure and a friend has had a couple, and never had to pay for a consultation, when you call to make the appointment they should inform you if there is any charge.
Question: Imaging a computer without changing the driver configuration.? I am migrating my 2003 server from an old machine to a new machine. I have setup the new computer with 2003, and have installed all the necessary files. Not wanting to have to manually transfer the files over, I thought of either stealing an image and putting it on the new machine, or creating a backup on the old server and restoring the backup on to the new computer. However, either of these methods will blow away any drivers I have installed on my new machine.
Any suggestions / advice would be appreciated.
Answer: Could you install the HD from the old server as a second drive and move them that way?
Question: Hack computer using disk imaging programs? Hi,
My computer is quite secured and can stop most people from installing most programs on them without authorization. (I am using vista business which also has user account control).
However, i am curious if it is possible if someone can connect an external harddisk with it's own operating system and a disk imaging program installed on it. He/she then uses this disk imaging program to image my hard disk and archive it in another place. In other words, attaching the external hard disk to steal all the data on my computer.
Is this possible? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Answer: are you a spy or something??
All systems are open to those that know what they are doing.
It will take them some time and of course they will not use am external hard drive
If you have your folders private they cant read them anyways
and to connect the drive they need your account open
But....if they want they can access the computer when you are online
Question: Stereotactic neurosurgery what is the role of the electrode electric current and computer imaging?
Answer: I'll assume you mean stereotactic brain surgery. Prior to stereotactic surgery a patient undergoes MRI scanning with markers on their skull (fiducials). Using a lot of computer number crunching the position of any brain structure seen on the imaging is then mapped and the stereotactic needle can then be placed in it with reasonable accuracy (basically via triangulation from those fiducials).
This "reasonable accuracy" is about 95% of the story. However, if you need even more precision the electrical activity of the brain can be recorded by the stereotactic needle and the firing pattern of the neurons reveals what specific structure you are in. Even more information can be gleaned by sending an electrical current through the needle to stimulate the brain at the tip of the needle. The effect on the patient can provide further clues as to exactly where the needle is, what side effects of the surgery might develop, and how the patient will respond to the treatment should that be the final placement.
Question: What is the best computer I can get today for medical imaging processing? I work at the radiology department of a hospital. A lot of the work involves image processing like segmentation. Programs that I need to use show the body and other things in 3D.
What is the best computer I can use today?
It has to go fast.
It has to be stable
It has to be able to show interactive 3D volumes easily.
It has to be able to deal with large amounts of data.

Question: Question about multiple computer images on a single hard drive? I have a 1TB external Hard Drive I would like to use to backup my computers. I have about 3 different computers to back up. I will be using Acronis True Image 2010 Home. Can I have System Images for Three different computers on one hard drive?
My concern is that if I need to restore my computer using the system image I created how my computer would react to the other computers images.
Answer: Create 3 or 4 different top-level directories.
If the external drive is drive H: then simply create directories of H:/ComputerA, H:/ComputerB, and H:/ComputerC, and set each computer to backup to the correct directory on drive H.
