Umbilicoplasty
Surgery of the belly button
Question: Has anyone had an umbilicoplasty or any reconstructive surgery to their belly button? I am schedule to get mine done Friday. They say it's very easy to do, merely painless and safe, and should take just an hour. With no recovery time. Just wondering if anyone has had it done, and how their results turned out...
Answer: My boyfriend has had his belly button worked on a few times since he was young. But it was not for aesthetic reasons, he had constant pains in his belly button region. It is a medical mystery and doctors do not know how to help.

Question: umbilicoplasty aka belly button plastic surgery? when i was like 15 or 16 this girl ripped out my belly ring so now theres this slit in it. kind of looks like two flaps at the top of my belly button. im really self concious about it. i have a nice tanned flat stomach but i refuse to wear anything that shows my stomach because of that.. does anyone know if insurance would pay for it.. if not how much is it ?
Answer: im pretty sure insurance doesn't cover it...and the price i think is given to you when the doctor or surgeon meets with you and looks it over. its either between $500-$2000..heres a site i found about it:

Question: Umbilicoplasty (navel reconstruction) questions? so today i had to take out my navel piercing becuase my body rejected it :( the skin has almost shrivelled away and its really ugly. i have a kind of outtie belly button. i have a toned stomach but now i will be self concious of this area so i was wondering about surgery to fix this and get an innie navel. how much on average will umbilicoplasty cost and how painful/long is the healing process after surgery? thanks in advance
Answer: Its impossible to give you costs as you could be abywhere in teh world, for that you'll need to do a web search and find a clinic near you that does it and can give you a quote.
Any surgery will cause scarring, you have to consider if the cost is worth the result.
As for risks, the site below covers then quite well.

Question: Will they 'fix' your belly button while repairing an umbilical hernia? I just had my 3rd child a month ago, and I have an umbilical hernia. My belly button really sticks out alot!!! I was reading about umbilicoplasty and waas wondering how it works exactly....since I'm not going for cosmetic surgery, just a hernia repair, would they fix my belly button so it dont protrude so much, or would that have to be a completely different surgery? Anybody with experience? Thanks!!!
Answer: If the part of your belly button is the hernia that will be repaired. More than likely they will push the part of the intestine that is protruding back behind the abdominal muscle and put a mesh patch between it and the muscle. Chances are they will do nothing else.
Question: Outie belly button, help? I have an outie belly button.
How do you feel about those?
Are they gross?
or are you ok with them??
Do you know how much it costs to get umbilicoplasty (belly button surgery) changing an outie to an innie?
Mine doesn't protude from my stomach at all. In fact, until like this year i refused to accept it was an outie, so its not like its THAT terribe. but i still don't ever enjoy swimming because of it.
I'm 16 if that makes any difference
Answer: No, I'm perfectly fine with them. Usually, I don't even notice, and when I do, it's not like I tell all my friends "Oh gosh!! Look, that girl has an outie!" I don't think they're gross at all, you can have much worse, like a huge birth mark on your belly, or a hairy back. Don't sweat it, people just don't usually look at others peoples belly buttons.
Question: i have an outie??? i want to be a model and i have an outie. i heard about Umbilicoplasty. does anyone have any information about it? (cost, what is it, will it hurt?)
Answer: Well I used to have an outie when I was younger. Mine eventually turned into an innie. I haven't heard of an "umbilicoplasty" I suggest you go to maybe webmd.com or some other trusted medical site to get more information on this medical procedure.
Question: Stomach - fitness/appearance. Good advice needed? I am in my early stages of adolescence.
This is what I want to change:
1. I have a square torso - how can I change it to get some curves - inwards possibly?
2. Scars from chicken pox - does Bio Oil work?
3. Dark brown quite-coarse hair on my stomach - does rubbing pumice stones on it work?
4. Got a likkle pot belly with manly 6 pack pads. Im not sure if I want to remove the fat because then I wold have a 6 pack... A serious one. =l
5. I have an outie belly button - is there any natural ways to make it an innie? Besides umbilicoplasty.
If you dont know any of the answers does anyone know a fitness online coach who I can ask (for free), for advice?
Thanks in advance.

Answer: No personal experience, but my boyfriend's nephew had this done... His outtie was seriously out before. Now it lays flat. Don't remember it taking long to heal... Looks so much better and more comfortable.
Question: How old do you have to be to get an umbilicoplasty surgery? Hi I'm 16, and when I was about 1, a doctor had operated on my belly button- to save my life. Im truly grateful for the doctor saving my life, but they didn't really do a great job in making it look like a normal belly button, not sure if it was because I was too young, but now that I'm older I can't really go to the beach in any two piece with my friends, because of how bad it looks. So my question is what age do you have to be to get an umbilicoplasty surgery? Because my parents say to wait until I'm 22, because peoples belly buttons don't stop maturing or something like that, until their in their 20s- not sure if true.
Answer: You are old enough to have the surgery. However, it is considered cosmetic surgery, probably not covered by any health insurance. Thus it will be very expensive. The hard fact is that the average family has better use for the money.
Question: help! I want to get a plastic surgery procedure done, but why is the office asking for my insurance? I want to get umbilicoplasty done and I'm having a hard time finding a plastic surgeon to do the procedure WITHOUT a tummy tuck(I DO NOT need a tummy tuck lol!)
Anyways, I'm 18 next week and so I wanted to get the procedure done. However, I DO NOT want my parents involved in it. I don't want them to know, that's why I waited until I was 18 to get the surgery. I'm willing to pay for it myself. Now here is where my problem comes in, WHy the heck is the plastic surgery office asking for my insurance and what should I tell them? I didn't even think plastic surgery was covered with insurance, and I'm willing to pay for it myself, i Just don't want my parents involved, and right now, I have my parents insurance. So, if I gave the plastic surgeon my insurance, my parents would be involved.
What should I do, and PLEASEEEE HELP ME :)
thanks!
***don't tell me not to get the surgery, I know what I want.
Answer: Tell them you don't have any. Pay for it out of pocket. If for some reason something were to go wrong you could then give them your card after the fact.
It's not rocket science.
