Turkey Neck
Excess skin and fat under the chin
Question: Turkey Neck? I am a woman in her 30's and want to avoid getting jowls or turkey neck when I am older. Any suggestions?
Answer: If your mother and grandmother has them, chances are likely for you to follow the same pattern.
The best way to prevent aging is to STAY OUT OF THE SUN. Wear sunblock every waking hour, even indoors.
Question: How do I remove a a turkey neck? I bought a 7lb. trukey breast. I removed the giblets fine, but I do not know how to remove the neck.... I already put the turkey into the brine, but i still need to remove the neck.... please help me....
Also, since it is a turkey breast, is the neck right at the cavity or is it in the top?
Answer: Usually a neck's only included with the heart, gizzard and liver (giblets) in a whole turkey. For a breast, I wouldn't expect a neck to have been included. I'm surprised you got any giblets at all, frankly. If it wasn't loose, you don't need to do anything else, you can cook it the way it is.
The only way it would have a neck or stub of a neck attached is if the ribcage was attached to the breast, and I've never seen that done. If it's just a breast, there won't even be any vestige or stub of a neck, that's on the back of a bird, the breast is on the front. If it does have a stub of a neck somehow, you can use kitchen shears or a boning knife to cut through it as close to the ribcage as you can get, then cook with your giblets for the gravy. I never use the liver for gravy, it's better eaten at another time.
If you need anything else for making gravy, you can get a turkey wing or two, to cook along with your giblets. After cooking, take off the skin and discard it, pull the meat off the bones, and chop finely to add to the gravy along with the finely chopped giblets, if you like the giblets and turkey meat (as from a neck) in your gravy. Otherwise, save the meat for another use (leave the meat unchopped after pulling from bones in that case).
Question: How can I work off the "turkey neck"? I am 42 years old and have been overweight for most of my life. I finally decided to take steps to lose the weight, but I am finding that at my age, the double chin is going away but the "turkey neck" (I really have no idea what it's called) is going to try to stay. Does anyone know of any exercises that might work this off?
Answer: Exercise is a GREAT way to lose weight.
Try breathing exercises. You might be surprised to know that breathing exercises too can lead to weight loss. If you are doing the breathing exercises properly, you will find that you can exert a lot of pressure on the muscles around the mid section. You can feel a tightening of these muscles each time you breathe in or breathe out. So go ahead and breathe properly, it is good for you.
If you have a dog, take it for a run and let the dog lead you on. You will be surprised as to how much exercise a dog can give you. Animals are sensible enough to know that they need a lot of exercise so let your animal lead you on. Take your pet dog out for as walk and before you know what hit you, it will turn out to be a run.
Join a dance class. Dancing is a wonderful way to burn off those extra calories. When you dance you are in fact burning away a lot of calories. Of course we are not referring to the slow ballroom kind of dances in which one person actually leans on the other one for support. We are talking about fast dances. The best way to do it is by joining a dance class because they will really wok you out. But I would suggest that you wait for a couple more pounds to vanish before you think of becoming a ballerina.
If there is a pool nearby go for swims as often as you can, swimming is one of the best exercises. Water has a lot of advantages. And if nothing else, a cool dip in a pool is a wonderful stress reliever.
Try playing something like table tennis or basket ball. Games are a fun way to lose weight. It is much more exciting to play a game than just work out by yourself. The best thing about games is that they are addictive. Once you start playing you will soon end up with a friends’ circle and then the playing goes on without even you knowing it. It is something that you can look forward to and there is no stress involved in this program. In fact the more you play the less you will consider this to be a part of your weight loss program. As you burn away those calories, you will also be able to expand your social circle.
Question: is it safe to cook the turkey neck and let my dog have it? I heard that turkey is bad for dogs but is it ok to give her a cooked turkey neck that comes out of the turkey? If no why? So i can explain why not to the children.
Answer: It's possible - IF you remove all of the bones. In my opinion, there are too many bones in the neck. If you want to, give your dog a small piece of cooked turkey meat instead.
Question: What causes a " turkey neck" in women as they get older??? Curious why women develope thinning neck with veins protruding when they get older, some refer to it as a turkey neck? Please don't just answer 'age' as the reason. Does anyone know the biological reasons why the skin tissue is breaking down??
Answer: The amount of elastin decreases with age. Elastin is does exactly what it sounds like. It's the reason people get wrinkles. Veins may begin to almost hyperextend from all the years of pressure from blood. Sometimes they get creases in the neck also, from unequal fat distribution.

Answer: Use Filter > Liquify to push the skin on the neck into a younger position. If you haven't used this tool before, it will probably take you a few tries to get the hang of it.
Question: Does any body know what side dishes goes with turkey neck? My husband loves turkey necks but I don't know what to make with it, rice, corn?
Answer: rice would be good. so would buttered egg noodles. gravy, of course. how about using the necks for soup? you'd get a lot of flavor out of them. especially if you roasted them first. be sure to make some veggies too. corn on the cob, candied yams, green beans, etc.
Question: How Can I Avoid Getting Turkey Neck (Jowls)? How do you avoid getting jowls, turkey neck, sagging chin, ect.. I am 34 and I am paranoid of losing my jawline. What can I do to prevent this from happening to me as I age?
Answer: There's not a lot you can do to prevent this, if your parents have it. Probably staying out of the sun when you were younger might have helped—too late for that now. It's loose skin, not muscles, so exercise has no effect.
If you think it's going to be a problem, start saving up for a face lift now. ✂

Answer: My mom always boiled the giblets for about an hour just to get all the meaty taste out of them. Then she would throw the giblets away, drain the oil off of the broth, mix approximately 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to one cup of water, and add to the giblet juice, and heat until thickened.

Question: Is it better to give a small dog a Raw turkey wing or a Raw turkey neck to chew on? One of my 14 lb dogs is on a raw diet. I wondered, since he hates raw chicken, is it ok to give a raw turky neck or wing, or back? Which is better?
Thanks.
(it's for teeth cleaning purposes.
Answer: As long as whatever you give him is large enough that he can't swallow it whole, you can give him any part of the turkey. Since your dog is only 14 lbs and turkeys are generally quite large, you could probably safely feed him neck, wing, or back.
Always observe your dog when he's first learning to eat raw to make sure he's not a gulper. As long as he learns to chew properly, you can feed whatever you'd like. Large weight bearing bones from animals such as cows should generally be avoided but any raw poultry bones are very safe.
Question: Is turkey, chicken neck safe for small breed puppy? I have a 8 months old Pomeranian that's on a 50% raw diet. He loves his raw meaty bones. I usually just give him the femurs or big marrow bones without the marrow since they are too fatty. However, yesterday, I saw some turkey necks at the market and wonder if I should give one to him. He didn't do so well with smaller segments bones. Last time I give him a small ox tail segment he chocked on it. I afraid it may happen again even if I give him the whole neck or tail.
Answer: Why on earth would you be giving marrow or femur bones to this dog? Bones are supposed to be edible - this means things like chicken thighs, drumsticks, pork ribs or turkey necks. If my cats can eat a chicken drumstick then so can your little dog.
PLEASE read this link http://rawfed.com/myths/toybreeds.html
The reason your dog choked is that you gave him a 'small segment'. RMB are supposed to be MEATY and large enough to be a work out for the dog.

Question: Oops, I left the turkey neck in the turkey and the inside looks like it's not cooked and bloody, what do I do? It's been cooking for 3 hours.
Thank you everybody for your helpful answer. I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving.
Answer: Hi Janet, Put your turkey back in the oven. to test it if it is done, pierce it at the thickest part in a couple of places with a skewer and if the juices run crear and ther is no sign of blood then it is done. Any sign of blood put it back in for a while. If the outside is begining to look too dark put a cup of water in the base of the baking tray and cover the bird with tin foil. I hope this helps, all the best. Rab
Question: what's the best way to tighten and firm a "turkey neck" without surgery? I gained a ton of weight with my twins and lost almost 40 when they was born, however it "stretched my chin/neck area now I have 'turkey neck' I am getting my weight and shape back but my neck looks horrible! Please help!!! I do not want to go under the knife, so i am looking for the best way to firm and reshape my neck and chin
Answer: Start in seated position with head tilted slightly back. Drop jaw and let mouth fall open. Breath in. Then exhale as you push your chin up and out towards your upper lip, tightening your neck and jaw. Hold for 1 second. Inhale as you return to the starting position.
For best results, keep your neck and back relaxed to avoid straining your shoulders. Don't forget to breathe. If you feel any strain in your neck, do not tilt your head back. Do 20 reps once or twice a week.
Good luck!
