Sweat Gland
A gland that secretes perspiration through a pore in the skin
Question: How do you treat a draining infected sweat gland? I have an infected sweat gland in my armpit. I went to the doctors and i've been washing, putting ointment on it and taking my anti biotic pills like they prescribed. It was just a very tender lump yesterday and today a little hole appeared in the middle of the lump and began to leak a little. Not sure if i should leave it alone, squeeze it, or just hold my arm over my head so it can drain freely.
Answer: 2-3 times a day, hot pack it. Use a washcloth soaked in as hot a water as you can stand. It well help things open up & bring the infection out.
Good luck.
Question: Is it true that you have to pop a sweat gland in puppies so they dont stink? When you take your puppy to a salon. I heard you can ask them to pop a sweat gland that they have inside there butt so they dont stink. Is that true?
Well not really in puppies. but I mean in dogs in general. Im taking my 5 month old yorkie to the salon. Should I ask them to pop it?
Answer: NO NO NO please dont let them do it and specifically tell them NOT to do it!!!
its the anal gland and NO dont have it done regularly....ask them NOT to do it unless you notice your pup scooting on the ground.. if you start now you might have to get it done regularly... they naturally release the anal glands when they go to the bathroom....its not something you have to do to all dogs!!! they do it naturally and its not neccesary... groomers shold not do it unless asked... they do it though and I would not let them do it.....

Answer: Yes, and my doctor suggested taking baths instead of showers to help keep that from happening.....
Question: Is it a sweat gland like the doctor said? What does a sweat gland look like? It is because i went to the doctors a month ago about my lump right hand side back of my head, and he said it was a sweat gland, i just want to make sure. Question: Is It Possible To Kill Someone By Puncturing Their Armpit Sweat Gland? I personally think this is rubbish, but is there a particularly large sweat gland located in the armpit that if punctured can release loads of fatal toxins into the bloodstream?
It doesn't make sense because sweat glands are tiny and uniformally distributed across the body more or less
Answer: There is a bunch of nerves and an artery that pass through the armpit and go on down to the muscles of the arm. It hurts to be struck there, and disables the arm for awhile, but it isn't fatal in and of itself. It is hard to hit and there are other places to cause damage to someone that are more easily accessible. Take courses. Good luck.
Question: What produces earwax is it a modified sweat gland? I'm just curious why do we have ear wax and what does it really do for us?
Answer: I searched for some information. Hey girl! You are back... as VIVIANNA! COOL!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ear_wax
http://www.doctorhoffman.com/wax.htm
Other information
Ear wax is a sticky liquid secreted by cerumen glands. It isn't really wax in the 'candle wax' sense (paraffin). Skin contains many tiny glands whose sole purpose is to secrete a variety of substances. Sebaceous glands, for example, secrete sebum, which gives skin its greasy quality. Sweat is also produced by microscopic glands. Cerumen glands are found only in the skin of the ear canals. It traps anything foreign that flies, crawls, or is blown into the ear canals. Dirt, tiny bits of plant material, small insects, bacteria, and so forth are immobilized by wax. Think of wax as the sticky stuff on a No Pest Strip. The primary purpose of ear wax is to protect your ear canal and ear drum from such foreign materials. Ear wax can cause hearing loss, pain, and cough. Hearing loss occurs when wax completely blocks the ear canal. This prevents sound waves from easily reaching the ear drum, in exactly the same way that ear plugs (or a strategically-positioned finger) block sound. Even a small amount of wax, if wedged between the ear drum and the ear canal wall, reduces the ability of the ear drum to conduct sound. Some people form very hard wax, which can cause pain by putting pressure on sensitive ear canal walls. Finally, since the ear canal shares some of the same nerves which give sensation to the throat, ear wax can provoke a "tickle in the throat" which can then lead to cough.
Hope this helps!

-Deodorant
-Antiperspirant Deodorant
Make sure when you buy the product you need, read first to make sure it is an antiperspirant deodorant.

Question: Where can I do "Sweat gland suction" surgery for Palm sweating in India/Kerala? I'm suffering from excessive palm sweating since childhood. Recently I read about "Sweat gland suction" surgery to cure palm sweating. So, can anybody tell me where can I do it in India/Kerala? If NO, is there any eqivalent treatment available in India? plz help
Hi SU,
Thanks for the information. Could you tell me the names of the homeopathy medicines that your friend used so as I can just ask my doctor?
Answer: Sweating is a natural process that occurs in our bodily process and its normal. It also help us to eliminate bad toxins in our body. However, too much sweating is really not a normal and it is called Hyperhidrosis.
Sometimes, using any products like antiperspirant, topical cream and other solutions is not Enough!. You can seek a medical professional that help you to stop excessive sweating, because most of the Doctors are not qualified in treating hyperhidrosis.
Question: Thinking about sweat gland removal for possible hyperhidrosis, please advise? I sweat from my forehead, armpits and hands excessively. Do you know of a doctor in New York i could speak with?
Answer: hi. for hyperhidrosis of armpits u need to undergo an excision biopsy of d axillary skin. it is 100percent curative but for ur hands d only procedure available is a cervical sympathectomy which is successful in only about half d patients as for d forehead der is nothing much anybody can do about it.
Question: I have an infected axillary sweat gland. Do I need antibiotics, or will it clear up unattended/with hot packs? I've had them once before, in the other arm, so I know what it is. I'm getting pus and blood from it. I was put on antibiotics before, but I'd rather not have to make a trip to the doctor and pharmacy if I don't absolutely have to... Advice please?
And yes, I do know not to wear deodorant while it's infected.
Answer: You can try the hot packs if you want, but don't let it get worse. I had one the size of a golfball in my groin, and now have one on the other side. It takes forever to burst, and when it does, it stays open. You really should have it lanced, not all antibiotics will shrink it. Try neopsorin, keep it covered so nothing irritates it, it's hard to say if it will heal once it bursts..it is a very hard place to heal on it's own.
Question: examples of how sweat gland work for our body? what are some examples of how sweat glands work on our bosy
Answer: http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entr…
Sweat or perspiration is a watery fluid excreted by the sweat (sudoriparous) glands of the skin of mammals. Sweat contains primarily water, but also salts and metabolic waste products—primarily sodium chloride, urea, lactic acid, and potassium ions (Blood et al. 2007).
The sweat glands in humans plays the folliwing functions..
1. Sweat serves an excretory function for releasing excess water and waste products.
2. In some animals, and in particularly humans, it also plays a role in regulating body temperature through evaporative cooling when the water in the sweat evaporates.
3. The urocanic acid in sweat also may offer protection for the skin against ultraviolet radiation (Kent 2006).

If I go to a Dermatologist, will they help cure it? I know that you can get your Apocrine gland removed via Surgery, but thats a little too extreme.
Is there a medication you can take? Or an ointment of some sort? Thanks.
Answer: Yes....a dermatologist would be your best bet.
Boy, that would be a tough spot to have overactive sweat glands!! Not sure if you are male or female but very short hair would help.....as would a hair gel that contains alcohol to dry the scalp and also cleanse it really thoroughly to keep bacteria to a minimum that is causing the odor. Can ask the dermatologist about chloraphyl......supposed to sort of 'color' odors in excessive sweat.

Question: Is sweats sterile from the sweat glands? Is sweat excreted sterile from the sweat gland initially? will it be able to transmit infections?
Answer: Sweat and oils secreted from the skin are good incubators for bacteria. This is why those that shower regularly usually don't smell particularly bad immediately after starting to sweat. But someone that doesn't shower regularly may stink it up badly.
Everyone has bacteria on their skin ("skin flora") that can transmit infection. Its not a particularly common mode of transmission unless someone is careless during an invasive procedure or if they are sick otherwise.
Question: Foot problem - clogged sweat gland? I developed a very small pimple like white bump on the ball of my foot. Very painful when touched and to walk on it. Went to foot doctor, he told me I had a clogged sweat gland, and there is no cure! Has anyone ever had this and what did u do?
Answer: If the problem is that of an obstructed sweat gland, I would be very surpised that your doctor, did not inform you, that its a very benign condition, and generally, it resolves by itself.
However, since it is located in a poteltially painful area, you have several options:
fisrt, get your doctor to refer your case or a "local freezing" with liquid nitrogen
Painless, costless, does not hurt, the little plmple will fall off in 2.3 days
Or, get your doctor to prescribe to you, podophylline 5% and use it cautiously (an instructive comes with it) to cauterize it apilessly, with several applications (normally 1 week is more that enough).
Also painless and the treatment is quite cheap.
Nothing wrong will happen to you anyway, dont worry.
