Subcision
A technique in which fibrous bands that anchor a depressed scar or casue the dimpling of cellulite are severed
Question: Has anyone here have any experience in subcision? I mean done it? I have some acne scarring and my dermatologist suggest I should do the subcision together with VBeam. So, I'm just wondering what will be the consequences of subcision?
Answer: Yes, I had this done once. I'm not sure how much improvement I got, but basically subcision breaks up the scar tissue, allowing new collagen to fill in the scar, raising it to the surface. It may take several sessions to see results.
HTH : )
Question: Are there Pakistani clinics that offer subcision for facial scars? http://www.acnetreatmentinfo.org/info/Subcision
I would like to know if there are qualified dermatologists in Pakistan who can perform the procedure. Please give me as many details as possible. Can you refer me to any qualified dermatologist in Pakistan who can perform a subcision? I'll be very grateful if I can get his or her web address, or phone number, etc.
Answer: nope.
Question: Subcision outcome...? Hi there!
About a month ago, I got a subcision done, to get rid of an adherence product of an injury to the bridge of my nose. The day I got the procedure done, the adherence seemed to be gone, but on the next day I sarted noticing the "abnormal" appeareace of the skin when I move my nose up.
Last weekend, I went to my doctor for one of my revision appointments, and I told him that, from what I see, I can tell the adherence is back (when I move my nose up, I see there is an abnormal contraction of the skin which seems to be attached from underneath). He told me that it is normal, and that I must massage the area to get rid of this problem.
In your experience... Do you think this is a "normal" evolution for a subcision? What do you recommend me to do to get rid of this problem?
Thanks for your help.
Answer: I would go with what the doctor says and see how things go over the next few weeks.
Question: Will my severe acne scars holes at least be closed up and surfaced.? if i get treatments such as subcision and fraxel.etc..
I'm willing to pay the amount of an expensive car to do it.I'm dead serious. Fcvk the car or anything welse. My life does not begin until i am satisfied with my skin.I'm thinking realistically still and am not expecting 100 percenrt perfect baby smooth skin.!
Answer: if your going to spend that kind of money I would suggest you 1st do some extensive research about all the laser treatment and any new laser treatments before you to into a doctors office so that you can really get your money's worth, and not disappointed. Here are some links to some very good derms. If any treatment is going to work you really need the right doctor with the most experience with laser treatments, otherwise the end results could be very bad. Good Luck, the 1st is a very good doctor, read her staffs bio's

Question: Has anyone had success with dermal fillers for acne scaring? (deeper scars?)? My scar is dented in and it's on my nose. It has been there for over a year.
I have had laser
subcision
and used gels/creams
I have had little progress, and am about to try the dermal fillers with collagen.
Answer: The use of dermal fillers for the deep acne scars, in which the sides of the scar are perpendicular to the surface (rather than the scalloped type scarring) is basically a failure. There is logiistically no way to put the filler material underneath the scar; but rather it either squirts up the pore, or migrates to the side of the scar, making it plump up and look even worse. If you have a solitary scar on the nose, and you've had a surgical subscission without success, then a punch graft may be an option for you.

Question: Dermabrasion for Acne, Dr. John Yarborough of NOLA? I am considering dermabrasion for my acne scars. I do not have ice pick scars, so to say, but more of deep, rolling crater like scars along my cheeks. Here's a little about my history:
-Antibiotics throughout high school for acne/Benzaclin and retina A topical treatments
-03-04 Smooth Beam to help prevent breakouts
-After the smooth beam my acne became nodular and cyste like.
-Went on accutane once all options failed.
-Accutane cleared my nodular acne, but because of my cronic 'picking' and my skin being more prone to scars, my cheeks were left with craters =(
-A year after the Accutane (05-06) I began microdermabrasion periodically and Fraxel 1540 laser treatment.
-The microdermabrasion did not improve my scars, but helped with redness and just made my skin feel soft. The Fraxel did help with surface scars, but now a year later (07-08) and after normal breakouts, it seems my skin had degressed- not nearly as bad as before, but not as smooth as it was following the laser.
I am now considering surgical dermatology, probably subcision technique or even more so, dermabrasion. I am 24 years old, still have acne (normal surface acne, a few small pimples here and there). I want to have the surgery, but read where active acne cannot be present. Well...I've had acne since I was 12. Its been 12 years, still no change. I don't want to go through my 20's and 30's waiting for it to stop so I can get rid of my scars. Is it ok to have a few breakouts and still undergo Dermabrasion?
Even more importantly, I am looking for personal experiences with Dr. John M. Yarborough of new orleans. found only positive things about him so far, and I am about 45 minutes from New Orleans so it would be awesome to use him!
I dont mean to be rude, but please DONT offer me alternative solutions to my scarring. Believe me, I've tried it all. No topical solution works for my acne, and I am tired of expensive lasers that do not work for me.
I am treating my SCARS not ACNE. Please, as I already asked, don't offer your advice for acne treatment. I'm looking for personal accounts or information on surgical treatment for SCARS, I.E. Dermabrasion.
Answer: What the skin needs is a treatment that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into acne. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those ugly acne.

P.S. I also know someone who used to suffer from severe acne for 14 YEARS and finally got rid of it completely. She's sharing her story at her site:

Question: I don't know what to do please help? so pretty much im in the worst situation of my life ( so far )
here is my dilemma / story i have been interested in body modifications for my whole life , so when i was quite young (maybe 9 or 10 )i started very simple brandings with a needle and flame , then over the years i started homemade tattooes , and a subcision. *Now i know your probably thinking wtf this kid is crazy , and beleive me at one point i though i was , but after looking at my phycological behavior i realized that im perfectly normal, just with a destructive sexual motive for giving myself body modifications ( so maybe in the eyes of the world im insane but in my own i am normal )
but to get to my main point which i swayed away from is, my mom is making me get a physical in a few days , and i am scared out of my mind what they will do to me because of my body modifications (fyi they are covering a good porption of my thighs ) last check up i got away with bandaids , and perfect timing to cover stuff up , but now that i have more tattooes its virtually impossible to hide them
i have been thinking about talking to the doctor personally (without my parents around ) to see her perfesional opinion , but i dont want her to make a huge deal (send me to therapy ) haha but i wouldnt mind a free prescription lol - what do you think the doctor would say ?
or i could plea to my mom is a respectable manner to dealey the appointment till summer ( buy me some time )
but in the end i am just scared , because i have so much going for me now , and i feel my life is on a great track , but i just dont think i can deal with the stress brought on by parents crying how their child ruined his life , or with being sent to therapy
and one last thing please spare the bs about what an idiot i am , becasue i know , i am an idiot comfortalble in my own body =) i just dont want people to tell me different thanks
Answer: depending on what your age is the doctor may want to send you to therapy for fear that you will hurt yourself further. I can kinda relate to you though. I also love tattoos but all of mine are professional. They can be addictive.
Question: What is a subcision and how long to heal? My dermatologist just made an appt. for me to have a subcision due to some mild acne scarring. How does this procedure work and how long does it take to heal?
Answer: You probably mean 'incision'. It is just a fancy word for cutting the skin, so they will remove the scarring. Takes approx 2 weeks to heal over, then a few more weeks for the incision to fully integrate and mature.
