Spider Vein
Non-essential superficial dilated veins that lie just beneath the skin
Question: What can be done to cover a spider vein? I understand that spider veins can be covered with cosmetics. What really works, looks pretty natural and will not wash off?
Answer: I just use a concealer and then foundation on mine. Unfortunatley, it does wash off. BUT, omg, I used bio oil on one I had on my chin and in 3 months it faded and to this day I have not seen it since! I had it since I was a baby and at 13 I used bio oil on it every night and it faded until it went! I then used it on others and they are now slowly starting to fade. You could consider surgery but I don't think it is really necessary.
Question: What's the best way to get rid of broken capillaries or spider vein on the face or legs? I heard that the best way to make spider veins or broken capillaries in the face (or around the body) disappear is with laser but, what about a cream? What would it be a good brand for a cream/lotion? Thanks
Answer: A cream really isn't going to do anything for spider veins. A lot of broken capillaries go away on their own though. If they don't go away laser vein removal really is the best answer for spider veins on the face. There's also a treatment called scelerotherapy that can treat spider veins. It's an injectable though and can sometimes leave scarring.
Here's a couple of good websites about vein removal:

Question: Do you know the cost & side effects related to spider vein treatment? I am interested in seeking treatment for some small spider veins on the side of my leg. It looks like bruising and I am embarrased by it. I have found different treatment options described online. I'm looking for someone who knows the best treatment, cost, and side effects involved. Thanks!
Answer: Really no issues on side effects for either sclerotherapy of laser treatments. The best solution is probably dependent on the size of the veins. Because you said they look like "bruising" I am assuming they are really small which would probably make a laser the better option. For costs, I have heard sclero at $250 per session and laser at $350 per session. The final cost is dependent on the size of the area and how much can be treated in one session. The attached site, www.HealthySkinPortal.com, has more information and provider options.
Question: How do you cover up spider vein's? I have spider veins around my nose area which is oily, how can I cover them? foundation and powder last about twenty minutes.
Answer: instead of using concealer under the eyes use it around your nose but make sure it looks subtle!!:)
Question: how good is vein away plus to get rid of spider veins? anything oral or application to recommend for spider veins and broken capillaries?
Answer: My grandma gets those and they're hereditary so, I've researched how to prevent them. Exercising and keeping your legs elevated are the best ways. However, once you get them, things like Vein Away Plus barely reduce the appearnce of them. Surgery is the only way to get rid of them in a noticeable way.
Question: Cost to remove one little spider vein on my leg? I have a dark purple/blue spider vein on the back of my leg.. and its so annoying! It stands out cause im so pale.
It;s about 2 cms long and not really thick. What would sclerotherapy or laser cost to remove this one little vein??
Answer: You can easily check your minimal health care rates in internet, for example here - healthquotes.awardspace.info
Question: Has anyone here have had laser spider vein surgery? Did it work and in how long did you see the changes? I have spider veins and i want to remove them im kinda afraid for the surgery. Can anyone tell me their experience???
Answer: There are multiple forms of laser surgery for spider veins. Non-invasive laser surgery for spider veins is typically done for the facial spider veins, broken capillaries and redness from rosacea. This treatment is not considered particularly painful and topical numbing is rarely used. It is important to keep in mind that multiple treatments will often be needed but there can be dramatic results after just one.
Another form of laser surgery is Endovenous Laser Treatment or EVLT, this is often used for leg veins and larger varicose veins. In this minimally invasive procedure, a very small fiber optic laser is actually inserted through a needle into the problem vein. The laser then heats and seals the vein which forces blood to be re-routed to healthier veins and the now dead vein will be absorbed and disposed of by the body's natural processes. This procedure will usually take about an hour and is also a low pain procedure.
Sclerotherapy is another popular treatment for getting rid of varicose and spider veins. This involves a series of injections of a solution into the vein which seals it and causes the blood to be re-routed. While this is often less expensive then laser surgery it is more painful, especially if you are not a fan of needles.
Question: what would happen if you cut a big, elevated spider vein? suppose you had a big, elevated spider vein...what would happen if it were cut open?
Answer: DEATH!!!
Question: How are spider vein injections done and does it hurt? Is it just like getting a bunch of shots in your leg?
Answer: I have had this done a few times over the last several years (new veins appear over time, so there is maintenance). The procedure is called sclerotherapy. Basically, the doctor performs it using a small needle and injecting a saline solution into your veins. The solution causes the veins to contract and pull away from the surface of the skin. You are correct -- It is "just like getting a bunch of shots in your leg." Some doctors do it in combination with a laser for even better results. I've had the sclerotherapy/laser combination. The results were pretty good each time. Most of the veins go away right away, and most of the ones that remain fade 4-6 weeks after the treatment. It's not like I suddenly had perfect legs or anything, but there was a big improvement. To answer the second part of your question, yes, it does hurt. I'm pretty wimpy when it comes to needles in all fairness, but it stings and it's uncomfortable. For a couple weeks after the treatment there are needle marks and bruises -- very attractive! But all in all, definitely worth it.
Question: Could anybody recommend a reliable spider vein removal cream that works please? I am only 15, but I have alot of veins visible on my legs. I am going on holiday soon, and unless I use mountains of fake tan I don't like wearing a bikini because I think people will stare at them. I have been looking at the YSX and skin doctor creams, are these any good? I could not find any reviews for them so maybe some one could help me please? Thank youuu x
Answer: the creams are a waste of money hun xxx
go to a beautician and they can laser remove them (dosent hurt)... and its permanent.
save your money for laser removal , as the creams DONT work.
the laser zaps the 'spider naevus' (spider veins) at the root so they dont come back.
hope this helps you xx
Question: Is there a good treatment for spider vein OTHER THEN injections? I tried a lotion last year but it never worked and thank god that Sephora has a return policy.
which Vita K solution?
Answer: Laser works very well and they will be gone. For injections (sclerotherapy) you can expect a cost of $250 per session. Laser will probably cost $350 per session but you can get a larger area done with laser than with sclerotherapy in a single session.
Question: Has anyone ever had laser spider vein removal? Did it work? Did it hurt? I've also heard about where they inject saline into them to make them collapse and disappear? Has anyone had experience with that procedure they can tell me about?
Answer: No but i have a small spider vein on my face, i used 'ANEW clinical laser' from Avon, its a product which is supposed to reduce the appearence of them, i would like to have the injection though.
Question: Is this a capillary or a spider vein? Will it go away over time? I have a tiny (very tiny) redish short line next to my nose ... it just appeared randomly.... im only 16 and i dont drink alcohol at all... what is it? ive heard they can be called spider viens or is it just a capilliary will it just go away eventually?
Answer: it won't go away. it's a broken capillary that can be fixed by a dermatologist
Question: Have you ever had success with spider vein pills or cream? I would not be able to afford sclerotherapy for several years ( I am only 18) and was wondering if you ever had any success with pills or creams. I exercise a few days a week. My mom has them, I got bad genes.
Answer: you should change you diet...
i also have spider veins and when i get alot of fiber, fruits into my diet they're less noticeable...
creams, pills don't work...waste of money...
Question: I'm 28 years old and just noticed a spider vein on my upper thigh. What are my options as far as removal? I'm only 104 pounds... and still semi-young, so I was surprised when I looked in the mirror the other day and saw this on my right, back upper thigh.
Has anyone had anything similar at this age? And also, has anyone ever been treated for such veins with light therapy? What was your experience like?
Thanks!
Answer: There are a few different treatments for spider veins. This first is Sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy involves, ‘injections of a sclerosing solution to dissolve and eliminate’ your spider veins. This has been known to reduce or eliminate the cramping, burning, swelling, and aching that sometimes accompanies spider veins. The price for Sclerotherapy ranges from $150-$400 per treatment, and only a licensed professional will be able to tell you how many treatments you may need.
Another effective treatment is laser spider vein removal. The lasers work by targeting the blood vessels in spider veins. The surrounding tissue remains intact as the capillaries absorb the energy and are eliminated. The resulting dead vein is harmlessly absorbed back into your body. Laser Spider vein removal generally costs between $350-$500 per treatment and like Sclerotherapy only a licensed professional will be able to tell you how many treatments you may need.
Question: How many laser treatments? Spider vein? I have 1 small 1mm thread vein on my cheek.
I have been quoted £75 a session but would like to know if i am likely to need more than 1 session?
Answer: I have a thickish thread vein on my nose and my beautician said two or three session should clear it right up, but it was only going to cost £6 each. It wasn't laser treatment as such so I suppose that's why it's so cheap. Go around your local beauty salons and ask for a quote to remove a small thread vein, I think you'll find they can do a bit cheaper. Take care,xx.
Question: Does anyone know of a spider vein cream that really works? I have very small red ones and I want to get rid of them before they get worse... I see a lot of creams and want to know which ones really work...
Answer: There are no creams that will remove spider veins.
Question: Please help!! Im 15 and already have a spider vein starting. How do you prevent them? I do not want to have les looking like my moms and gradmas. Any medicinal or cosmetic ways to stop or get rid of them?
Answer: maybe your spider veins are genitics since your parent && grand parent has had them. exercise to help blood circulation && avoid too much sun exposure. avoid things too hot which make spider veins worse
Question: is there any spider vein cream that i could use that works? anything really, that is sold in local stores? thanks!
Answer: Don't know about any creams but I do know that Buckwheat is very good for the vascular system. You can get it in tablet form from health stores or a good local pharmacy. You can also buy it as a packet of ground flour, Tesco and Sainsbury supermarkets sell. I use it and it definitely gets rid of fine, red veins on the face. Takes about 2 - 4 weeks of daily intake before you'll see results.
Question: I have the worst spider vein ever! What to do? I have a spider vein on my face just below my eye! Luckily, it's not that noticeable and only small, but I hate it, I used to cover it up with foundation, but now I just don't bother, is their anyway of getting rid of it other than laser treatment and injections, and remember, I'm 12, not made of money!
Answer: As far as I know, there is no way other than lazers or injections.
