Question: septum???? please please be completly honest please dont lie about it if it hurt just tell me when you get it done does it hurt do they pierce your sweet spot and will it come out crooked and do they give you a hoop or one you can flip up.

Answer: I wouldnt say it hurts, but getting in pierced is definitely not the most pleasurable thing ever. Its like a numb pain... nothing that makes you want to scream and curve into a ball. Its natural if a couple of tears fall though... not because of the pain of course.' You can pick your own jewelry, but it is advised you get something you can flip up your nose like a keeper or a horseshoe. Makes you play around with it less which makes it heal faster. Whether or not it comes out crooked depends on 2 things as far as I know. The piercer may pierce it croocked, or you make it crooked by sleeping your face in the pillow... They mostly pierce your sweet spot, which is recommended, but you can also do it differently.

Question: How do you stretch a septum piercing from 16g to 14g? My septum piercing is currently 16g but it's hard to find a wide selection of jewelry in that size. How easy would it be to stretch it up to 14g? Could I just get a 14g ring and slide it in or do I need some sort of taper or something?

Answer: Moving up just one size probably isn't worth a taper, and it would be difficult to judge unless you got your hands on a 20-14 one. But I tried moving up to a 14 from 16 and it was agony, but so was the initial piercing... it may be different for you. Needless to say, I'm now happy with my daintier 16g thank you very much! I'd say don't bother with the taper unless your piercing is close to your nose cartilage, it should stretch willingly enough with just a larger gauge ring :) Good luck!

Question: How long after removing my septum piercing can I get my nostrils pierced? I had my septum piercing two and a half weeks ago, and it is too crooked for me to live with. (I'm crazy about symmetry) I plan on taking it out and getting double nostrils, and was wondering if I should wait a certain amount of time in between the two events. Thank you! Also, is there any special aftercare I should do post-removal since it's still healing?

Answer: like the girl said above me its different skin so it shouldnt matter and soak a q tip with sea salt water and clean the piercing place for 10 to 20 minutes

Question: What would be the perfect diameter for a septum ring? I have my septum pierced and I am having a hard time knowing how big the diameter should be when ordering. I don't want something freakishly large, but I don't want something so small its pressed against my septum. Any ideas or what is the average diameter?

Answer: It depends on your face and how snugly you want the jewelry to fit. Most people can comfortably wear 3/8", but if you're looking for the "perfect" diameter I would recommend visiting your piercer and asking them.

Question: How Much Is It To Have A Horseshoe Septum In Afflecks Manchester? I want my septum pierced with a horseshoe in Manchester's Affleck's Palace. Im unable to go until saturday so I don't know how much it will be. And im planning to get it pierced on the saturday I go. -Do they do horseshoes? Question: How long should I wait between getting my septum pierced and getting my nose pierced? I had my septum done two nights ago, and am now itching to do double nostrils. My first instinct says to wait until my septum is fully healed in a couple months; however, I was wondering if, assuming the healing process goes well, I could perhaps get them done after a month or so. Thanks in advance.

Answer: My piercer would totally not do that... your immune system is working hard at healing your septum and getting your nostril pierced would make it work extra harder. Plus, what if you get in infection with your septum... then it creeps up until your nostril piercing? You're going to face a really big problem! Please wait the recommended 3 months or so for that to heal. Take your daily vitamins! :)

Question: What is the placing of a septum piercing? I know it's not in the cartilage, but do they pull the thick lower part down and pierce through the thinner skin, or do they just pierce through the thick part? If you have a close up picture, of exactly where the hole is, that would be fantastic. I have seen a septum piercing before, so you don't need to send me a picture of someone's face who has one, I want a close up of the inside of the nose.

Question: What would look good with a septum piercing? Okay, I basically have my septum pierced and the right side of my lip pierced. I'm using the studded ball instead of the ring for my lip and the ring for my septum. I recently got it done by the way. My question is what other piercings would look good with a septum piercing?

Answer: well once you get your septum piercing thats about as good as it'll get. not much you can do to look better (or worse).

Question: How fast can I take my Septum piercing out, and will it ring airport metal detectors? I just got my septum pierced without my parents knowledge. I simply wear it up when they're around, so all is good. However, I will be traveling with them in the next 2-3 weeks, and I'm wondering whether or not I should take it out just before we pass security, and put it in after we pass through, or to chance the metal detectors.

Answer: it is such a small piece of jewelry that the metal will absolutely not set off the metal detectors. i recently traveled overseas, and have my septum pierced [as well as 17 other piercings right now] and had no problems with the metal detectors at all. it would be best for the healing process if you don't take it out for at least a month, the more you take it out and put it back in, the more trauma it could cause and it will take longer to heal.

Question: How long will my septum piercing be sore? I got my septum pierced about three days ago. I've been cleaning it out with saline solution 3 times a day. My question is, how long will it be sore? It isn't really an unbearable pain, but it hurts to touch the tip of my nose, septum, etc. I know it heals in 6-10 weeks.

Answer: About a month or so, that's how long it took for mine to not be sore to the touch. It all depends on your body though and how fast it heals, my body takes forever for piercings to heal, so it could be less then that. Best of luck (:

Question: What is the average cost for a septum piercing? Anyone know what the average rate for a septum piercing is? Guesstimants are welcome. Question: Next year I plan on getting my septum pierced. How badly will it hurt? I'm also wondering what piercings might look good with the septum. A few of my friends said angel bites, and a few of them said snake bites. I'm just looking for opinions. And please, if you're just planning on answering this, saying how stupid this is, at least give a reason why? Thank you!

Answer: I got mine about 6 months ago. I love it! The only thing was that it was really tedious to continue to cleaning. It really was not all to painful, just a slight pinch. Be sure to pick a very good piercer and place, I went for one with a better price and not quality, She ended up piercing it way to far behind and puncturing a vein in my nose so I got constant nose bleeds! so pick a good place!

Question: Does a septum piercing affect resonation in singing? I'm planning on getting a septum (piercing) ring, and turning it up for choir performances. But then I realized, Shoot! Will the ring in my nose affect how I sound? Is the small piece of metal (I plan on getting a 16) going to stifle my air flow in my nasal cavity, and will I resonate differently? fuuudge!

Answer: It definitely will effect resonance. not to mention possible whistling while breathing, crusting, and frequent runny nose. If you're serious about singing, skip the nose bling.

Question: Is a septum piercing really that easy to hide? I mean, I know you can flip it up into your nose, but is it still visible from the side if you look in detail? I want to get my septum pierced but worried my mum will notice.

Answer: It is very easy to hide if you can flip it up. When I flip mine up you cannot even tell I have the piercing. I flip it up for job interviews.

Question: How long does it take for a septum piercing to close up? I haven't worn a septum ring since February, I am no sure if it is closed up, it was always a pain to put the ring in and out. I know you shouldn't put it in and out yourself anyway, but I had to take it out for work and never bothered to put it in again. I want a do it yourself guide to putting the ring back again---possible re-piercing. No wimps. I don't have $$ to re-pierce.

Answer: No way in the world is that going to be still open. I left mine out for 2 nights and it closed up, and i had to get it repierced. It hurt like hell because of scar tissue too.

Answer: I had my septum pierced with a retainer and wore it flipped up most of the time for the first few weeks I had it. If you're going to wear your septum flipped up, put it up and leave it. Don't move the jewlery again until you have been able to soak and clean your septum since it may have formed crust and will tear up the piercing to move it without cleaning. Don't flip your jewlery back and forth throughout the day as this will be likely to irritate your piercing. If you're going to be going for the up look, get pierced with a septum retainer. Yes it looks a little silly if you choose to wear it down, but its easy on your nose. Be aware that it can try to escape your nose while cleaning, so be careful not to knock it out of yourself. If you're going to hide your septum choose jewlery designed for the job like a retainer or a keeper. Circular barbells will work for both hiding and daily wear once your piercing is healed, but stuffing the whole thing into your nose may be too much while its healing. If you must hide a piercing, hide it with good equipment and don't bother it other than cleaning.

Question: What type of surgery should i do for my deviated nasal septum? i have deviated nasal septum, haziness in right frontal sinus. Opacity in left nasal cavity.Nasal septum deviated to right side. DNS to right side C right frontal sinusitis C opacity left nasal cavity? hypertrophied turbinate. what type of surgey should i do and which part of my nose effects.

Answer: An ENT (ear,nose, throat) surgeon (specialist) would make this decision, not you. They base the surgery on what needs to be fixed.

Question: How long should i wait to repierce my septum? i had to repierce my septum. ive had it out for about 3 days now. how much longer should i wait to get it?

Answer: i would leave it for at least 2 months give it time to fully heal, keep in mind though since you have took it out you will have scare tissue and if you get it re-pierced it will hurt more than the first time you had it done hopes this helps :)

Question: What gauge do most people start with for a septum piercing? just wondering. im getting my septum pierced with my friend soon. we're buying the circular barbells for it and we need to know what size gauge to get. :)

Answer: Most people get 14g. You can also choose between either a 16g or 12g also. It just depends on what gauge you decide you want.

Question: How long on average does a septum piercing hurt after it's pierced? So, I pierced my septum two days ago and it is still very painful to touch the tip of my nose or the bottom of my septum. It's always just a little bit painful. How long is this going to last?

Answer: Mine wasn't completely okay for at least a month. After a month I could tug on it and change the ring without it hurting or bleeding. Everybody is different though. I've had it pierced twice, and the first time it healed faster because i kept it flipped up. that reduces movement, and lets it heal fast. it also makes the pierced area easier to clean.
