Seborrheic Dermatitis
Greasy, red areas of skin caused by irritation of the sebaceous glands
Question: Seborrheic Dermatitis? If you have seborrheic dermatitis, is it better to leave the skin flakes where they are or to pull them off? I only want to leave them on my face if there is a good reason to do so.
Answer: IF U PULL THEM IT MAY DAMAGE YOUR SKIN SO LEAVE AS IT IS.
Question: Seborrheic dermatitis? So my hair has been falling out for the last 4 or 5 months. Last time I went to the doc, he said he found Seborrheic dermatitis (overproduction of oil) and prescribed some medicated shampoo. I am assuming that the dermatitis is the reason for the hair loss. Will the hair that fell out grow back and how long will it take?
Answer: Yea it could be the reason if the dermatitis did involve the scalp. don't worry dear.. its just a temporary hair loss. it can grow back sooner or later. Grow time depends on person to person. Like say, your current dermatitis condition, nutrition factors and genetics factor..
Question: I was diagnosed with Seborrheic dermatitis now its still itchy? OKay so my doctor told me i have Seborrheic dermatitis so i was prescribed ketoconazale shampoo i use it everyday and leave it in for 5 minutes. Everything was good for awhile but now my hair is no longer oily but is still extremely itchy and bleeds. I was wondering good home remedies or something. I am making a doctors appt but wont be able to go in for a few weeks would like a temporary fix.
Answer: Hi, you can try one of the natural treatments available on the Internet. Some of them do actually work. For my seb. dermatitis on scalp I use psoriasis herbal cream by Champori quite successfully. It takes just a couple of weeks to clear the spots and they then stay clear for months on end.
Try it: Champori is available online without prescription and comes with money back guarantee so if it doesn't work for you - it's free.

Question: Can a dermatologist please help with seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp? I have a friend who has had this ongoing condition for the last 4 years. She is very physically healthy with no known allergies. She has tried everything from Head and Shoulders shampoo, tea tree oils, to aloe vera gel. What can possibly stop her seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp?
Answer: Use Ketaconazole shampoo 2% twice weekly.
Should be continuously used for two months.
After the first week start massaging in 1%hydrocortisone cream to the scalp on the day the shampooing is done after the shampoo and the hair is dry.
The shampooing should be regularily paced out once every 3 rd day.
Question: Does any one know how to control seborrheic dermatitis over the counter? My seborrheic dermatitis has been acting up pretty bad recently and I can't make it to the dermatologist..I'm african american so I can't wash my hair every day! Help please! Any creams ointments or shampoos? Thanks!
Answer: Use an olive oil treatment on your scalp, warm. Leave it on for a few minutes, until you feel some relief. Olive oil is the closest to the natural oils found in human skin.
I used to work for an inventory service and at the time had an irritation on my scalp. I found this shampoo that was made for african americans and I was buying it and using it. It made my hair so soft and helped my scalp so much. I didn't know it was made for african american hair. I got it for what it said it would do. The people I worked with were looking at me like I was crazy, so I said what 's up with you guys? Then my one girlfriend took me aside and said everyone wanted to know why I was buying that when it was made for .... hair? I didn't know. I wish I could find it now or remember what it was called, or if they even still have it. I will go out and look for it tomorrow and edit if I do.
In the meantime, I have found another that may help after you have done a warm olive oil treatment. It is called "Silk Elegance" shampoo and conditioner. You can get it at "Sally's. There is another I could recommend, but try this and see if it doesn't work for ya. Again, made for your specific hair type.
Question: What is the best way to treat seborrheic dermatitis? I have had problems over the last couple of years with seborrheic dermatitis particularly behind my ears, above my eyelids, and now the base of my hairline on my neck. I'm wondering if there is a cream that can go on this or anything that can relieve the sporadic itching
Answer: I use hydrocortizone cream daily for mine and it controls the symptoms better than anything else I've tried. It may take 3 or 4 days to really see some results, but it my start feeling better in a day or two. If I go a while without the cream, the dermatitis comes back. When I start treating it with the cream again, sometimes it feels like a sunburn - but that passes in a day or two and the rash abates.
Question: Does seborrheic dermatitis cause hair loss? Also, are there any proven natural remedies to control or rid of this condition? Any harm in using those tar shampoos over a long period of time? I am hesistant to do anything which will cause hair loss and am scared if I don't that the seborrheic dermatitis will itself cause hair loss. I also have it on face now :( Any sufferers know how to control this?
Answer: if you scratch and pick at it, yes, hair loss will occur. do you have a dermatologist? you can try stuff like t-gel products (shampoo, etc.), but you need a good dermatologist. good luck!
Question: Can someone send me a picture of there seborrheic dermatitis? I need some seborrheic dermatitis pictures for a project I am working on. The subjects do not need a picture of there face. I want to publish them on a website. It can be of the scalp or face or neck or arms. Try not to let the flash wreck the photo. The closer the better.
Answer: google it. there are many pictures already on line without getting personal with someones else's plight.
Question: How many people get Seborrheic Dermatitis? Im one of the people who has Seborrheic Dermatitis.(I hate it but have to live with it)And I was wondering how many people get and if it's really common.

Sincerely,

Question: How do you apply salicylic acid shampoo to the face to treat seborrheic dermatitis? I have a mild form of seborrheic dermatitis on my face and my dermatologist prescribed salicylic acid shampoo to rub on my face. The only problem is that I forgot the directions of how to apply it, when, and for how long.
Does anyone know?
Answer: Just put it on and keep it on for few hours, then wash it away.
It it doesn't help, try anti-eczema cream from http://www.champori.com. It works for seborroeic dermatitis as well.
Question: How long will it take till my seborrheic dermatitis to go away? I went to see my dermatologist last week and was told i had seborrheic dermatitis around my nose and was told to use Hydrocortisone 1% and its been a week now and i barely notice a difference.......how long does it usually take till it completely goes away? Its very disappointing to have to put on this cream and wakeup and notice nothings changed....it hasn't gotten worse but it also hasn't gotten better. What's the time frame when it comes to this?
Answer: For everybody it is different. Steroids did not work at all for my SD. I've found anti-eczema herbal remedies at serenaskin.com that works very well for me. Cream and spray cleared the skin and now i just take anti-eczema extract to prevent future flare-ups. I'm pleased with the results.
Question: Does anyone have home remedies for Seborrheic Dermatitis? Does anyone have any home remedies for Seborrheic Dermatitis? Does anyone know how to get rid of it naturally?
Any advice is much appreciated.
I use head & shoulders shampoo

Question: Naturally treat Seborrheic Dermatitis of the scalp? I have Seborrheic Dermatitis of the scalp. I use coal tar shampoo and salicylic acid shampoo. Anyone have ideas of other more natural ways I can treat this condition?
Answer: are you sure it is seborrheic dermatitis?? i do not know of any natural ways to treat this, but i have heard that denorex's therpeutic tar shampoo is good - better than neutrogena tar shampoo. the problem is it is hard to find. if you have any bad inflamed intact sores you can also try putting a little cortaid cream on it overnight. it will help with the itching and swelling. if none of this helps, i would see a dermatologist. good luck.
also, if you find the tar shampoos are not working you can try nizeral a-d shampoo. sometimes this works when all else fails. it is an anti-fungal, unlike the others.
Question: Will getting rid of dandruff "possibly" get rid of my seborrheic dermatitis on my face? I've heard of cases where getting rid of dandruff also got rid of a patients seborrheic dermatitis. Is this true?
I've got seb. dermatitis on my face and also dandruff. Any cream I use seems to do nothing on my dermatitis. Perhaps getting rid of my persistent dandruff first might help? Do they have a connection?
Answer: wash your hair and face with tea tree oil and give up dairy products
Question: What are the available medications for treating Seborrheic Dermatitis? What are the available medications for treating Seborrheic Dermatitis, both prescription and over-the-counter? Also list side effects if you know them please.
Answer: Either ask your doc for a prescription for Nizoral shampoo or go to the local drug store or grocery store and get the non-prescription version of it..same name. The prescription version works a bit better but the non-prescription works just as well except you hafta use it longer to get the same results from what I noticed using the different ones. I dont of any side effects per say except that for me, it seems to get worse before it gets better. Just use every other day for about 2 weeks to a month and then once a week or once every other week there after it has cleared up. You cannot get rid of this but this shampoo will kepp it under control if used the way I decribed. Or you can also try Nutrogena T-Gel shampoo you can buy at a drug store or grocery store as well but I found this not to work for me. Good Luck, it is a very frustrating condition to have and live with.
Question: Does anyone know of an effective treatment for seborrheic dermatitis on the face? Ever since I had mono 1 year ago, I've had seborrheic dermatitis (SD) on my face and scalp. Can a lowered immune system from an illness such as mono ever trigger this? The dermatologist who diagnosed it put me on a steroid cream for my face but it made my condition worse. Are there any other facial treatments for this condition besides steroid creams? I had clear skin before the SD hit. Now I get dry red itcy blotches all over my face and scalp especially in the cold winter months.
Answer: I hate to say it but till this day there is no such cure for seborrheic dermatitis. It can appear and disappear randomly. I'm dealing with this annoying thing for four years now. I'm currently taking a pill (sorry do not remember the name of the medication but will let you know) and a cream (again, can't remember..) which is not cortisone based. (I'll probably need another pill for memory). Do not use cortisone or steroid creams as they might be effective in the beginning but gradually wear out your skin leaving it thinner and thinner, in some cases causing little visible capillary vanes. I try to eat as healthy as possible, a lot of vegies and fruit, not much bread (yeast) as I used to, occasionally do saunas, do exercise and try to keep my skin as clean as possible. I guess the only thing we can do is keep treating it the best way we can and hope that one day it will go away. Let's be optimistic.. it'll have to go away!!!
Question: I have seborrheic dermatitis and it's in my ear and it itches all the time. What can I use for it? I went to the ear, nose and throat doctor for clogged ears and I had "skin" build up because I have seborrheic dermatitis and it's in my ear and it itches all the time. The dr. said I have some type of fungal infection. My ear's clogged up again any suggestions?
Answer: If you have a fungal infection in your ear the doc should have given you some medication for it. He also should have told you what to do for the seborrheic dermatitis. Either go back to the doc and get this taken care of or consider changinge docs since this one didn't go a good job of taking care of your problems.
Question: Would an anti-candida diet help me with my seborrheic dermatitis? I'm asking because I have seborrheic dermatitis (I'm currently in the middle of a flare-up) and would like to keep off steroids. I understand that seborrheic dermatitis is fungal-related (to Candida and yeast) and auto-immune related, and feel that a diet that goes against the growth of candida would help me with this condition. What is your opinion on this?
Answer: My opinion is that, first of all, it's really not related to yeast, and secondly, an anti-candida diet wouldn't help at all. There is a dermatologist in the U.S. who claims that psoriasis is related to intestinal candida, but he's in the minority of opinion.
Question: What healthy diet should i supposed to take in seborrheic dermatitis disease and what should i aviod? seborrheic dermatitis is a head sclap problem.
Answer: rule of thumb eat healthy ,sprouts ,green leafy vegie, fruits ,this is what is recommeded in every health condition n sebborheic dermatitis is no diff.seborrheic dermatiitis is inflammatory skin conditions involved scalp , axilla ,groin n chest all hairy areas ,its predetermined gentical condition n more aggresive in winters hence other tahn diet u need good antifungal shampoo to cut off malsasia furfur ,yeast responsible for aggravation of seb derm , i suggest u to visit ur dermatologist n take proper rx as diet can only play supportive role not amin treatment
gudluck
