Punch Excision
Removal of a circular (usually 4mm or less) piece of superficial skin for transplantation, scar removal, or biopsy
Question: after a punch excision for ice pick acne scars, what is the best after care as far as ointment, cleaning, etc?
Answer: Dear Olives,
I personally want to recommend an ointment called Resinol. I cut my arm wide-open on a Friday afternoon when I was 11 years old and was afraid to tell me mum. See, I had taken my 7 year-old cousin and put him in an old dryer and used a "monkey wrench" to turn the drum, for fun of course. The momentum was so I couldn't catch the spinning wrench but in trying I received a nasty, deep cut to my arm (my poor cousin eventually got out without my help as I had run away).
I knew I was in trouble for the bad decision to play with the dryer and no one was home so I put this ointment all over the open wound and then hid the entire weekend. On Sunday night I finally had to tell me mum as I knew I could not go to school in my condition. I was in no pain but I had a gaping wound atop me arm. The pediatrician cleaned the ointment off and said whatever it was it kept my skin pliant. He neatly stitched me, amazed I hadn't passed out from blood loss. I have a faint but flat and smooth line where the stiches use to be.
I've been using the Resinol ointment ever since. Truth is, I don't know for sure if the ointment helped. BUT, to this day I use it for everything from dry skin to insect stings. It's sold by the Menthaltum Company.
Best wishes,
pup
Question: What can i do about Pox marks? I have pox marks on my face.
I'm willing to spend good money to get something done about them.
has anyone had punch excision or Microdermabrasion?
or any other techniques used to get rid of these marks.
Answer: Lasers are the best way to go. They can do amazing things for both pox marks and acne scarring. I've had microdermabrasion but it's primarily for pigment/sun damage and not deep scars. There are specif lasers for scarring that smooth and improve the skin.
Question: Ever had a mole removed by a doctor? i am waiting to get a mole removed from my breast, a small mole which is flat and another one from my neck which is very raised and catching on tops. i have been told the one my my chest will be removed by a punch excision and the one on my neck will be shaved off. how badly should the scars be and is this really painfull? i have asked these questions but just says it will be fine but i am scared.
Answer: All the doctor will do is inject a little novocane around the moles...you will NOT feel him taking them off !! You will have very little scarring, and there is no pain after the procedure..

Question: should i get the surgery or not..?? ok i have a few scars from acne on my face. they bother me but are not too serious, i would definently like them gone though. well anyways i found a doctor who will do a punch excision procedure and make the scars less noticeable, i want the procedure but the consultation ALONE is $180. the procedure is probly going to be around $1000 dollars, which will leave me broke :(. if u were in my situation would you spend the money and have the procedure done or not?
Answer: I wouldn't. It's only cosmetic, which means with the proper concealers they can be covered up.
Why go broke when you can just cover it up? If it means a lot to you, wait until you're in a better financial situation where you can afford it and not go broke.
Question: i have an acne dent (known as a boxcar scar) how can i make the dent look like it is even w/my skin? I tried...
1) laser(made it more red!)
2)mederma(doesn't do a thing!)
3) coverup (yeah it's less red..but in natural lighting the dent is so gross!)
4) other scar medications (like retin-a)
I know that i can go and get fillers or get a punch excision..but my mom doesn't think it's necessary and it is relly making my confidence go down...a lot.
PLEASE HELP!

Question: What is the lump on my Cervix? I had A Loop Excision 12 months ago then 6 month ago another colp, 3 biopsy samples were taken at that time.
My result came back normal and was refered back to my surgery.
I am due next mont for my next smear test and have the lump the size of a pea on the edge of my Cervix. It has been there for about a mont now, it was not there whan I have my smear 6 month ago though there were 2 small lumps which the colposcopist took away with th punch biposy.
If this Is CIN 2-3 what will be the next procedure.
I am very worried an hope it is not Cancer.

Answer: It would be good to know why they did you a LEEP (Loop Electro Escision Procedure) 12 months ago. Did they suspect something abnormal. Also, what was the result on the 3 samples later?
Lumps (as you´ve mentioned) or anything strange in your cervix are not "normal" or usual findings. Perhaps what you have is a "Naboth Cyst" (Naboth Egg) which is an occluded cervical gland, and that probably happened because of the LEEP.
Anyway, you´ll have to wait until your next Pap smear. If the results come as Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia II (moderate) or III (Severe) you have the option for another LEEP or for a hysterectomy if you don´t want any more children.
Question: 2mm punch excision for scar. will I need sutuers? Scar Punch excision
Answer: Butterfly bandage might suffice, I've even seen Dr's use skin glue (I've even seen one doc in the field, use superglue - but that was a very 'austere' situation) and it worked.
Question: What Would Be the Best Choice(s) in Treating Acne, Acne Scars, Clogged Pores, & Dark Spots? I am 17 yrs old and I am curious as to what would be in my best interest for treating my acne related issues. My acne is very light and pretty much under control now. I seem to break-out more so during hormonal cycles in which my skin gets very oily (I get white heads and a couple cysts). Although, even after my break-outs have surpassed, white heads under my nose, cheeks and chin persists. Fortunately, they are not as bad as they once were. Some of it has left very superficial atrophic scars. I know most doctors note that scars cannot be 100% completely removed, but I have also researched that depending on the severity of the scarring you can get a complete or almost complete improvement/removal. My scars are not severe in size, but there are more than just a few (I am also afraid of the gradual effect if left untreated). My scars are fairly new in arrival which I also know serves as a great factor in completely improving the scars' appearance. I have been researching a many of treatment options from: every kind of chemical peels, laser resurfacing, surgical procedures (subsicion and punch excision i.e.), fillers, topicals, abrasions (dermabrasion, microderm, etc), and other ablative and non-ablative procedures. {My personal health/ health habits are right on point, if I might add.} I do know that scars are formed from the loss off tissue and also collagen, so I have concluded that the best treatment(s) will address the restoration/repair of the skin/skin surface and rebuild collagen growth. I also know that I have to go to the right dermatologist, plastic surgeon, or facial plastic surgeon with much practice in the area of scar removal. The only thing is I am CONFUSED! On one site "this treatment works" than on another "it doesn't", or that "you can improve them" and "you can't". I am completely confident that my scars are 95%~100% prone to improvement if given the proper guidance to the PROPER treatment. My skin is not extremely sensitive (though, it can be sensitive to some extent), it also very tough, and I am of a lighter skin-tone. Money is not much of issue, nor, is [down] time. Help me please! If I can just get the answers that will help I can move on to the next steps of this which will be consultation (finding the right doctor) etc etc..... HELP! PLEASE AND THANK YOU!
**Excuse the excessive run-ons and grammatical errors. I was rushing a bit. Also, I would appreciate it if the answer was from someone very knowledgeable in this criteria or has experienced it personally. I honestly do not want temporary fulfillment (fillers) so something with long term effects**
Answer: A damn good male dermatologist who has a skin spa, be prepared to take meds, apply topicals, have skin peels, etc. You will be under the care of the derm, but you will also be cared for by his people, who will help you a lot. Good luck!
