Mentoplasty
Chin augmentation with an artificial implant
Question: Can I get a surgery of the chin (mentoplasty) after having a beard laser epilation ? Hello, I just finish all my 6 appointments for having my beard to never grow back with a laser epilation so I never have to shave again. But now I want to have a augmentation of the chin and I was wondering if the laser epilation treatments are harmful to the skin recovery after the surgery.
Answer: My Cousin Wanted That Too And Did Laser Removal And They Told Him To Wait a Year Or 2 To Do Any Surgery On His Face
Question: Can a mentoplasty procedure be done by using only local anesthesia??? I need to know
chin implant procedure is another name for mentoplasty
Answer: probably. Your Doctor would know.
Question: What should I look for in a plastic surgeon? Please only respond with answers to the questions I ask. I've thought this through.
I have a receding chin. I want to get mentoplasty, and I'm looking for docotors in the RI area. I don't even know where to begin. Do some doctors have a payment plan, or do you need the money all up front?
Answer: You need do alot of information searching. Find in the Yellow Pages the Plastic Surgeons in your area, then I would go to the American Medical Assoc website and search the doctor. Most plastic surgeons will have you come in for your first visit for like $20. When and if you do go see the surgeon, ask a massive amount of questions including, how many of this type of procedure have you done, what has been the infection rate of your patients, do you have any complaints against your practice, and if you decide to proceed with the surgery then you need to ask the What if's, what if I am unhappy with the way the surgery turns out. Good luck.
Question: cost of Rhinoplasty and Mentoplasty? Isnt it cheaper if both the procedures are done at once because of Anesthesia and The doctor doing both surgerys at once?
Does anyone know the cost of both these if done together? In the us.
Answer: Never shop around for plastic surgery based on price. Try and find the best doctor. If you cant afford the best doctor in your area put it off. Plastic surgery is an art, and if you shop based on price you are probably going to end up looking like a freak.
Question: mentoplasty (chin implant or chin augmentation)? Well my lower jaw is Noticabley retruded and i would like to get a mentoplasty to correct my face. I was just wondering..
What age requirement is there? (I'm 16)
What is the average expense
How long is recovery time/ how long will my chin be swollen for?
Would it be better to have my jaw snapped and moved forward altogether, or is the implant better.
I did some research and i'm pretty convincd on the implant (snapping of jaw sounds a bit to painful for me) but i'd like to hear from someone who has gone through the surgery or is very knowledgable on the subject.
:Sorry wasn't quiet sure were to put this question under:
Answer: I can't answer on the implant part, but I can tell you a little about moving the jaw altogether, if you're still considering that.
I had the opposite situation from you (too much chin!) and had my upper and lower jaws moved backward four years ago when I was fifteen. They saw through your jaws and realign them with screws and plates, and it's a really rough recovery, but totally worth it in the end. All I have to show of it is some numbness in my lower face and some scars on the inside of my mouth. And as a bonus, I look like a cyborg in my head x-rays!
The best thing would be for you to meet with a plastic surgeon or an oral surgeon to discuss your options. Everyone's situation is different and some people need both jaw surgery -and- a chin implant for everything to look right. Some people only need one. It all depends on your anatomy. Either way, discuss your options with a doctor. They know best!
Good luck!
Question: Is there any one who has got mentoplasty?(chin implant)? i am 34 years old and i'm going to have both rhinoplasty and mentoplasty together.i'm so worried about them especially about mentoplasty which a small silicon implant was put under the muscle!

Question: What is the price of a plastic surgery in Canada (Quebec) ? Hello, I want to have a chin augmentation (mentoplasty) I I want to know what is the price of this surgery in Montreal (Province of Quebec, Canada). I heard it was about 2000 to 4000$, but I don't know if the anastesia, the material, the the hospitalisation after the surgery is included in the price...
Answer: go see a professional about this
Question: What kind of plastic surgery should I get? This is NOT one of those "omg am I pretty???" questions, because I already know I'm one of the uglier girls out there, despite not being medically disfigured or anything. As far as I know. I'm extremely unattractive and wondering what kind of plastic surgery I should get to improve myself. I'm thinking rhinoplasty, but I also need mentoplasty, liposuction, a face lift, implants, and a butt lift, if they have those. Which would be the most worthwhile investment?

Question: Michael Phelps looks like he had plastic surgery on his jaw. I wonder if there was more than that.? His jaw was definitely operated on. He had mentoplasty which is jaw cosmetic surgery. I am wondering about the nose too.
And please, no stupid answers, like "he is hot" or that he put on muscle. And the changes were too dramatic for just "aging" to do that!
If you don't like the question, don't answer it. He had jaw reduction surgery.

Answer: I agree, he does have a weird facial bones, even though it used to be weirder. unusual angular bones and a chin that is too big and protruding for the rest of his face.
Question: Post-Surgical Advice? Hey everyone...
I got a mentoplasty this morning (commonly known as a chin implant or chin augmentation)...it's for people with a weak chin that want to give the illusion of a better bite, without having to break their jaw which is a far more serious and debilitating surgery. For a mentoplasty, they just cut a slit inside your mouth where the bottom of your gums meets your chin-bone, and slip a small silicon implant under the muscle.
Well, it's 3pm and i feel AWESOME. Very little pain...just tightness and mild soreness.
I was prescribed persocet for pain, a prednison-steroid to speed up healing, and an antibiotic to prevent infection (though the wound was sutured with disolveable terrifcally).
My question is, online for mentoplasty, there's some scary advice (don't excercise for 3 weeks, don't bend down for a week, etc)...but my doctor just said "take it easy for 3 or 4 days and resume your life".
Is the online advice a little over the top for such a minor surgery?
Answer: Just ask your doctor..
Question: My 18-year-old son needs serious help, is there anything I can do legally? My son has always had "mental issues". He has been diagnosed with Bipolar and Body Dimorphic Disorder (BDD). He has been committed twice. Once was for a suicide attempt and the second time for an addiction to pills.
I'm starting to see many of the same symptoms occurring that occurred during the last few times he's had major "downward spirals".
-He's eating less, really depressed, not socializing as much...
-I hear him in his room crying for great lengths of time.
-He's also going on shopping sprees and having serious breakdowns just getting ready for school. It often takes him an hour or more just to find something to wear because "he looks awful in everything".
-He is wanting more cosmetic surgery. I had allowed him to have rhinoplasty and mentoplasty last year, which was probably the worst thing I could have ever done.
-He has also stopped taking his medication and stopped going to his therapist.
I've tried getting him to go back. I've even suggested and hospitalization again. I try to be there for him as much as I can. He just often ignores me and has a complete lack of respect for me.
I know that this may not be the best place to seek advice on this issue, but I'm at a total loss. I have no clue where to begin or who to contact. I really fear for his life.
Answer: If you truly believe he is a danger to himself ask your local police department if they will transport to a hospital when the time comes for you to make that call. You may also have a County Crisis Line, for mental health crises. If he is crying for hours in his room, and you call them, they will evaluate him at home, and make the decision for you as to whether or not he should be hospitalized. That's what I did for my bipolar daughter when she went off her meds and refused therapy or hospitalization. She had a lot of rage and was scary! The Crisis Worker came out - she was hospitalized!
Question: Cosmetic surgery, yes or no? I'm 15 (just turned!) and I am wondering if I should get a nose job(rhinoplasty) and making my lower part of my face shorter and giving it a more oval shape by chin reduction (mentoplasty).
I've always hated my nose ever since I was about 6, it has been big and oddly formed (it has a bump in the middle). Even my older sister said "it looks ugly and like a starving somalian kids"(yes I understand this can be seen as racist) when I was younger. We have different dads and she is WAY prettier and looks so much better than I ever will, even my mom admits it. Usually I hated my nose for being big but it is finally starting to come in proportion with my face, however I still hate the ugly shape. I have also inherited a large jaw from my mother, I have an overbite too, and a square/triangle shaped face. I tried to lose weight to feel better about myself, but it has only done the opposite! It reminds me that no matter how thin I get (I'm already medically underweight, going to pack on some muscle to get myself in the normal range) I will never be pretty.
I have a job and want to save up money, but 10 grand is allot and who knows, maybe it will cost more by the time I am 18. My family is fine with this.
So I am asking your opinion, should I go for it? Would you see somebody as different, or fake, after they had cosmetic surgery? Would you be disappointed in them?
Answer: Don't do it!
Your face is probably much nicer than you think yourself ;)
And it will change a lot over the next ten years anyway, you don't want a surgery to mess up the natural changes.
Shame on your family, btw !
If you want to make a life change, get a natural body weight and feel better about yourself in general,
adopt a vegetarian healthy lifestyle :)
I highly recommend it and there are hundreds of vegetarian web-pages out there to help you start a super healthy and long life!
Get involved in helping others are also very rewarding in finding your inner value.
As for the money you are saving up, continue saving and spend them on a trip around the world, you'll love it and have an experience you'll never forget!!
-unlike waking up with your face infected after your surgery ;)
Life is what you make of it, so stop wasting it on shallow ways to happiness and depressing thoughts, and start taking responsibility for making your life a great one to experience :)

Answer: Only your doctors can answer that question.
Question: should I get mentoplasty and rhinoplasty? Hello, I'm 18 and I've been self consious about my looks for years. these insecurities have been worsened and aggrivated by persistant bullying throughout my school career. However, recently It's gotten worse and I see no light at the end of the tunnel unless things change. I can bearly pull myself out of bed in the morning and I totally lack confidence. I know appearances aren't everything but I feel like we live in such a superficial culture that looking the right way is the only way to succeed.
I've generated some post op photos to give an impression. compare it to the original and share your thoughts on whether I should contiue with the procedure. thanks in advance.

do you think I should make a change
sorry the second link doesn't work but you should find both pics through the first.
Answer: I do not think you're unattractive. There is nothing wrong with you. Perhaps you just need to hear someone else tell you that. This is probably not the best resource for that...a few on here represent the contingent of cavepeople you went to school with :)
Adolescence can be a very difficult time for everyone. I think the most important thing is to talk to someone like a therapist to evaluate your emotional place. Sometimes, people can be depressed (which is a chemical imbalance) and can be helped to feel better on the inside and subsequently feel better on the outside.
Good luck.
