A synthetic material used in facial implants into which tissue and blood vessels grow, reducing the risk of infection
Question: If your having an eye removed which is better to get and why the bio eye or the medpor eye implants?
Answer: This really isn't the ideal place to come for medical advice. Speak to a doctor about it.
Question: What exactly is the procedure to an orbitotomy with medpor implant? I'm going for a orbitotomy with medpor transplant in my right eye due to a car accident i had 2 years ago. they said they have to "pop the eye out a little" because its sunken in...
what exactly is this procedure? what are the biggest risk other then vision loss? (i already have little to no vision in that eye so its not a big worry)
biggest question.... do they take out the eyeball to do this??? and how do they get it back there?? like is there any chance it won't go back in normally?
Answer: Medpor is used to help support the surrounding tissues when bone loss has occurred. so, they reposition the eye by lifting it out while it's still attached with muscle/nerve/vessels, the re set it. biggest risk, remote can be infection. that rarely happens. The surgeons pretty much have one shot to do it right the first time, Eye docs and ENT docs are meticulous because they so frequently work with soft tissue in the neck/ears, throat, eyes. Good luck. Hope this helps you.
Ask your docs for further clarification,
Question: what is the best material for implant? i want to improve my chin and jaw by adding some implans. But the doctor told me which one you want to use ,we use it. So in total which one do you suggesting silicon, medpor, or gorex? experience pls
Answer: If the doctor can't explain the differences between them and which would best suit you, then I think I would find another doctor.
Question: what is better, integrated or nonintegrated artificial eye? nonintegrated: Wrapped acrylic implant (scleral wrap or Mersilene mesh)
Integrated: Porous polyethylene (medpor)
Answer: I would presume that depends on the condition of the orbit that the eye is being made for.
Depending on whether the eye was lost through trauma, or surgery.
The oculist doing the job would know best which would be best for that specific patient.
Question: Does anyone has had secondary Medpor eye implant? Can you share your experience? How is the outcome and recovery process after this operation? How long is the duration of operation you previously had? Do you need to take any drugs prior or after surgery is done? Thanks.
I'd rather hear it from a patient who had underwent this surgery...
Answer: I hasnt had one
