Question: Why my gingiva or gum suddenly so thin? It's bleeding too whenever i applies a force on it. Why? Upper n lower too the same. It is so thin that till my embedded white teeth can even be seen too. My gum healed already after i brush my teeth. It bcum like tht bcoz i didnt brush evyday but gargle with listerine only as i wanna rush. But why still my gum still so thin? any teeth scientist / dentist help?
Answer: how long since it became like this?
it could be scurvy. take more vitamin C.
other rare causes could be disastrous. consult physician if it persist.
Question: what the causes of class III mobility and insufficient attached to gingiva?
Answer: The most obvious thing would be periodontal disease which will cause bone loss and will eventually lead to class III mobility and loss of attached gingiva. Another thing that can cause mobility is trauma to the teeth, whether from external forces, such as an accident, or from grinding or clenching the teeth. For example a person that has an edge to edge bite, and constantly clenches and grinds will eventually end up with wear facets or loose teeth or both.
Question: why some people when they smile.it show too much gingiva? I see some people when they smile.U can see a big part of thier gum with that..why is that.. does braces or something fix that?
Answer: It is simply just the way their mouths are. Some people have small teeth and therefore tend to show more of their gingiva. It could also, possibly be that they have inflamed gingiva causing it to be overgrown.
The previous poster is correct about both surgical procedures.
Question: Can the gingiva heal itself? I had a gum inflammation at my lower frontal teeth, its almost healed, but my gums are loose, will my gum heal itself? And how long it takes if it does? I'm 22, using mouthwash prescribed by dentist, with good oral hygiene, i thought my gums will be back to normal after the inflammation, I HAVE GONE TO DENTIST, AND I WILL GONE TO DENTIST FEW DAYS LATER ... but i must know the answers now.. plz help!
Answer: Yes, it will heal pretty much.
Gradually the swelling will go down and since you went to the dentist you must have gotten or must be getting the cleaning done as well.
So, the cleaned surface along with the healed gums will eliminate the loose tissue and allow for reattachment.
Give it 2 / 3 weeks.
You have to floss though on top of brushing and flossing.
Question: In oral mucosa, what changes are going on within the tissue layers when gingiva is red and swollen?
Answer: Its inflamed so its all the inflammatory cascade reactions of histamine,, white blood cells etc
Question: i just bit my gingiva while i was eating? how painful is that?
Answer: How?
Question: What causes gingiva in children?
Answer: Children's gingiva is different than adult gingiva and is more prone to get diseased, so they need to maintain good oral hygiene, should avoid sweets ,candies . They should practice the right kind of brushin technique and twice a day atleast with a flouridated tooth paste, they should take more of citrus food which is rich in Vit C , they should be taught to floss ther teeth. They should regularly visit Pedodontist.parents must check for oral habits in there child like mouth breathing .
Question: What is "col" in dentistry. which part of gingiva does it specificly refers?
Answer: Chreece is correct, but it's kind of hard to describe precisely.
If you look in the mirror, you will see that the gum comes to a point between your teeth - both on the inside and the outside. Call the outside point, "Point A," and the inside point, "Point B."
If you draw a line along the tooth from Point A to Point B, the gum does NOT follow that line. There is a concavity between Point A and Point B and the "bottom" of that concavity dips towards the roots. This is where periodontal disease gets started most of the time.
Question: Little bump at the top of my tooth (gingiva)....? HELP PLEASE? its squishy (yeah grosss) it had a little white dot but i poped it and it started bleeding, what is it? (no, its not an STD) I have had it before when i was very young, how do I get rid of it? and is it normal to still have baby teeth when your 15?
Answer: No it's not an STD. It's a gum abscess.
You have an infection below the margin of your gum-line.
See a dentist. This can cause you to loose the tooth.
Question: What is sulcus gingiva? It's about dentistry
Answer: The dental sulcus is the "free tissue" or unattached tissue that surrounds each tooth. This "pocket" is normally 3mm posterior, usually 1-2mm anterior. This is the area that retains plaque forming calculus and tartar which irritates and inflames the tissue causing the development of gingivitis. Hope I've been of some help and good luck!
Question: where can you find oral folded gingiva?
Answer: Excuse me? Are you wanting to know where it is located in your mouth?
Question: What happens if you have receding gums on the back molars and don't get gum grafting? Can it get worse? Do you loose your teeth eventually? What eventually happens? Have you had the grafting done and how did it turn out? How many teeth? How much did it cost & how much did your insurance cover? I have no gingiva on 2 back molars.
Answer: First of all, receding gums occurs when the underlying bone has receded first. This is caused by severe or chronic inflammation due to infection from bacterial plaque or tartar on your teeth and gums. It can get worse if you do not get treatment to remove the source of infection. This is how the majority of people lose their teeth early. The bone recedes, then the gums, the the teeth get loose, and eventually have to be removed. Grafting can be done, which will decrease sensitivity by covering the exposed roots. This is very expensive, but not nearly as expensive as losing the teeth and having to have them replaced. The insurance coverage will depend on the particular insurance. Good luck and don't put it off.
Question: Cat has severe inflammed mouth gingiva with bloody ulcers. Cortisone/antibiotics help temporarily. Any help? My vet has treated him with fluids, time release antibiotics and methypredinisolne injections (20 mg) and .35 (Covenia). This seems to help for 1-2 months. But, it always returns. He is eating Royal Canine Rescue canned food and loves it. Can't eat dry food. Help!!
Answer: Diabetes and kidney problem go hand in hand with gum and teeth problems. But it can also be a food allergy. If your vet keeps treating with antibiotics all he is doing is treating a symptom - that keeps coming back. You've got a couple of options: 1) ask for a blood workup to help determine the core problem 2) try a homeopathic remedy to strengthen his immune system.
The first is a lot harder on your bank account but may actually help with a diagnosis. The second is easier on the cash and can be given over a long period of time with out negative side affects that antibiotics bring.
I'm inclined to say dump the royal food too in favor of a raw meat diet. He may actually have a food allergy.
This one will take some time and money to address. There is more information on natural remedies for the immune system below.
Question: Why is there two different names for your gums? There are two names for your gums.Gums, and Gingiva. Why are there two and not just one?
Answer: Gingiva is a more scientific medical term and gums is more generic and is a more common term.
Question: which portion of junctional epithelium[ of gingiva] is more permeable? is it coronal apical or middle portion and why ?
Answer: I'd say apical. Here's why:
"Also, the junctional epithelium tapers from its coronal end, which may be 10 to 29 cells wide to one or two cells at its apical termination, located at the cementoenamel junction in healthy tissue."
Obviously the thinner width at the apical third is going to be a huge factor.
Question: does gingiva grow back? can it regenerate like skin?
Answer: yes...
Question: my gums (gingiva) is turning blue ? my gum started bleeding when I tried to take a bite of an apple . I looked in the mirror, and found my gum is bluish. is this serious . should I go to the dentist ?
I smoke a lot. does that have anything to do with my smoking ?
I brush my teeth everyday. and floss before I go to bed.
Answer: IF your are truly brushing and flossing daily, then you should now have a problem with gum disease. So, I would assume that you simply bruised the gum tissue when you chomped into the apple. See if it heals in a week or two. If not, see your dentist.
Question: pigmentation of gingiva in people of color duplicate color in denture
Answer: Even Yahoo Answers knew this wasn't a question.
Question: What are the benefits of Gingivectomy? I had extensive gingivitis due to negligence of dental hygiene. I had plaque removed by the dentist. After a few weeks the periodontist remove some of the gingiva with the use of a cauterizer and put some white substance as a bandage. What do you call this white substance? What is the procedure in doing gingivectomy? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this? What will the periodontist do after a week?
Answer: The primary benefit of the gingivectomy is that you'll now be able to adequately clean your teeth. If it was not done, you would have deep pocketing so that you could not clean your teeth, and the likely result would be that your gingivitis would continue. A secondary benefit is that the appearance will be improved.
The rubbery stuff covering the gums is called a periodontal packing or dressing. It keeps you more comfortable while you're healing, and it helps keep the gums from growing back to where they were. Likely, when the dressing comes off after one week, you'll be mostly healed. Things may still be somewhat tender.
The procedure of gingivectomy is basically to remove the excess gum tissue. It sounds as if you have had good care from your dentist and periodontist. I think you'll be happy with the results. Take care.
