Question: I fibroma a factor of risk for the cancer? I would like to know the two numbers. How frequently the fibroma happens (I mean how many percentage of women have fibroma). I need just an approximate number. The second thing I would like to know is how frequently a fibroma cause a breast cancer. Does fibroma increase the risk to get the breast cancer and if yes, how significantly (numbers are very welcomed).
Answer: Fibromas are very common in both females and males. There is no way of knowing the number of women or the percentage that have them. Fibromas are never the cause of breast cancer and they do not increase the risk of having breast cancer.
Question: What is the best option for Ossifying Fibroma, Total Resection Surgery or Conservative Surgery? Ossifying Fibroma is a benign tumour located in mandible (jaw) area. My wife has this on his right mandible and so far no surgery has been done yet, but the tumour is growing however not aggressively. We are searching for the best option for her. I'm really not resolved about doing any surgery as I have read some of the negative effects on people of same illness after surgery though some were successful.
Answer: Honestly, its better you consult a specialist to find out what's best for you. I really want to help but I don't think I can give better answers than specialist do. Sorry.

Question: Does ultrasound can detect fibroma? I has been told that the ultrasound investigation of the breast has detected a fibroma. Is that possible? I mean that fibroma, by definition, is a benign tumor and without biopsy we cannot say if it is a "benign tumor" or not. So, the next necessary step (after ultrasound) is biopsy/ Am I right?
Answer: They may want to do a biopsy to determine if its benign or malignant.... or they may just book for surgery, remove the mass then do a biopsy to check it. If then it comes back as malignant, they will follow up with more tests and chemo and or radiation therapy.
Question: I have a Ovarian Fibroma and need to get a Laparoscopic Surgery. Do you know the cost of the surgery? ? I dont have an insurance

Question: What is Lipoma? How does it differ from Fibroma? Is it only fatty accumulation?
Answer: A lipoma is a benign (noncancerous) fatty lump that usually causes no symptoms or problems. Most lipomas are small and are best left alone. However, a lipoma that develops under the skin can sometimes look unsightly. If required, it can be removed by a simple operation done under local anaesthetic.
Fibroma: A mass composed of fibrous tissue or connective tissue. Also called a fibroid tumor or fibroid.

Question: where can i get slide shows and best information for FIBROMA and other medical topics..? i need to make a presentation for 2nd year BDS students...
Answer: Call the American Cancer Society. They may be able to help. This is a long shot, but the library may also have slides. I don't know. They have the news paper on slides but I'm not sure about cancer of any kinds. You could also contact cancer hospitals, those that are teaching hospitals. They may lend them to you. Good luck
Question: how long is surgey for jaw ossifying fibroma?
Answer: It is very quick. They will numb the area and remove the fibroma. The whole procedure should take 30-40 minutes tops Start to finish.
Question: What is Fibroma? Is it dangerious? My father is having a swelling under his ribs. We consulted doctor, he said that it is "Fibroma". I am very much scared of it.
Answer: Hello,
A fibroma is an over-growth of scar tissue, also called "fibrous tissue," hence the name. It is a benign and harmless growth, and only needs removal if it is troublesome, or getting bigger, or is suspicious in some other way.
The cancerous equivalent of a common fibroma, is called a "fibro-sarcoma," but they are rare. It is nearly always cancerous right from the start, i.e. it does not tend to develop from a simple fibroma.
That word fibroma, is formed in the English language by sticking the suffix, "-oma," onto the end of the word "fibrous," to mean "a swelling of," = fibroma.
This language device works just as well, to name all sorts of other growths, - not all cancerous,- for instance, -
lipoma, - a benign tumor of fat.
seminoma, - a tumor of a man's testicle.
oligo-dendrocyt-oma, - a tumor of the brain.
haematoma, - the medical name for a collection of blood (a bruise).
tuberculoma, - an infected lump caused by tuberculosis, often in the lungs.
I hope this is of some help.
Best wishes,
Belliger

Question: What is NON-OSSIFYING FIBROMA ? I have non-ossifying fibroma in the right arm from my shoulder to my elbow. I am 42 years young. does anyone know what this is?? Thank's for all the information..in advance..
Answer: Non -Ossifying Fibroma - Fibrous Cortical Defect
Non-ossifying fibroma (NOF) is a well circumscribed, solitary fibrous proliferation. This lesion is found mostly in children with 75% occurring in the second decade. The lesion is found in males more commonly than in females and may occur in as many as 35% of all children.' It is a non-neoplastic process that occurs in the juxtaepiphyseal region of the long bones. The most common site is the femur followed by the tibia .
Clinically, non-ossifying fibromas are asymptomatic and are usually discovered as an incidental finding on x-ray. Occasionally, a larger lesion presents as a pathologic fracture. The classic scenario is a child who has a minor injury in a sports contest and a plain radiograph is taken in a local emergency room. A lesion is seen and the child is referred to an orthopaedic surgeon for evaluation. Generally, a careful history and physical examination will show that the child's pain is related to the nearby joint rather than the lesion, and that the pattern of the symptoms fits that which is expected in a sprain or strain injury. If there was pain before the injury that seems to arise from the lesion, the diagnosis of NOF is highly suspect. Jaffe-Campanacci syndrome is a constellation of symptoms including multiple non-ossifying fibromas, cafe-au-lait spots, mental retardation, hypogonadism, ocular and cardiovascular abnormalities.
Non-ossifying fibromas have a very typical appearance on x-ray. They are eccentric, multi-loculated sub-cortical lesions with a central lucency and a scalloped sclerotic margin. There is sometimes cortical thinning but no periosteal reaction. Serial x-rays will show the lesion migrating away from the epiphyseal plate with time. If the lesion is not eccentric, has no sclerotic rim, or is not multi-loculated, the diagnosis of NOF is suspect and further evaluation is warranted. Since these lesions may be treated by observation only without biopsy, the physician should be quite certain of the diagnosis before formulating a treatment plan. If any doubt exists, the advice of an orthopaedic oncology specialist should be sought.
Question: is an abnormal growth called mucocele or oral fibroma really a tumor? what can i do about it? anyone with this condition pleas give some answers
Answer: These are two different things, but both related to trauma, not tumor or neoplasm. Mucocele is when you bite your lip and damage a salivary gland duct of a minor salivary gland, and then the saliva can't get out. It builds up and becomes a bubble, which is the mucocele.
An oral fibroma is usually caused by biting the inside of the cheek, and the tissue responds by building thicker tissue, which is the fibroma.
Question: I am trying to find case studies on the cause of planters fibroma. I have been unable to find anything, HELP!
Answer: The cause of plantar fibomas cannot typically be determined but trauma to the aponeurosis and, in some cases, patients on phenytoin (Dilantin) can develop lesions. Those with systemic conditions such as epilepsy, alcoholism, liver cirrhosis, hypothyroidism and diabetes mellitus may have an increased incidence of plantar fibromas.
I have added a medical study.
Question: After a surgery of removing a fibroma how much can you gain in weight?/?

Question: Vaginal bleeding because of myoma (fibroma)? I have vaginal bleeding which does not stop for a month, because of a myoma (fibroma). I have been to three doctors already, had got pills that stop blood, hormones and an operation (endometrectomy).
The blood does not stop. Now they are talking about the IUD to keep hormonal balance, and I am not sure if it helps. How did you stop yours?
Please, no answers "go to the doctor", I have been to three of them.
Answer: My sister in law have the same problems with yours, she has a 12 cm myoma (tumor) and she have scheduled operation last July 2007. But, my mother gave her the food supplement that cure or dissolve the tumor. Right now she didn't went into any operation because in her latest ultrasound her tumor become smaller it is 7cm right now and the pain she feel is not that bad right now. She's taking that food supplement right now. Believe me it's really effective.

Question: Lump on foot=plantar fibroma? i have had this lump on the bottom of my foot for a few months now. it does hurt when pressure is applied. it is located between the heel and the smallest toe, but closer to the heel. i have done a little research on it, and the closest thing i could find is "plantar fibroma". however, all the pictures i have seen of plantar fibroma, the lump is on the big toe side. any help is welcomed. hope my explination is good enough. thanks
Answer: Well it could also be plantar fascittis. This is an inflamatory condition of the foot. My next guess would be a heel spur which is also very painful. With both of these conditions this is what you will feel. Your first step in the morning will be soooo painful, as you walk along it gets better then you sit and get up and the pain returns. See a podiatrist so he can tell you for sure with x-rays, it will be very clear what it is. I hope I have helped

Question: what is the prue-mating ritual of angelfish? Does the male or the female agressively nip the other? I have a marble angel and I believe a male. The large marble with veil fins (I think it is a male) is agressive to the gold female? Is this a courtship ritual before spawning? Is it safe to leave them together? How long will it take before laying eggs? Please help! Also, the large marble has lip fibroma? I wonder if they will sucessfully spawn with this condition. Please help! Thanks.
Answer: Angelfish sexes can not be told until breeding. I have a marble angelfish myself and i have no idea what its sex is.
aggressive behavior is the first tip-off. Juveniles will spar a bit from 3 months on, but serious courting rituals begin at 8-12 months, when females begin to get gravid. Look for bulging bellies. Pairs will begin posturing, flash fins, sometimes lock jaws and twist. When they're satisfied, they'll select a spawning site and start cleaning.
Sometimes a larger fish may damage the other's mouth. I had a black male that blinded one and killed another female before a large, tougher female took charge. Aggressive youngsters may learn some manners if kept in a tank with 6 or 8 others, especially if there's a large docile grownup present. Watch them closely during courtship, and place an injured fish behind a plastic partition to give it a chance to heal. Some fancy strains are overly aggressive, or just bad parents, and cannot raise the fry themselves; you'll have to remove the fry to perpetuate these varieties. In nature, spawning fish will drive others away. In our small tanks, they may kill others.
