Festoon
A pouch of skin and muscle in the lower eyelid and cheek junction
Question: What is the difference between an austrian blind and a festoon?
Answer: Looks like an Austrian blind is somewhere between a curtain and a blind. It's made of fabric but it's raised and lowered to expose the window, rather than pulled aside as a curtain is. A festoon, on the other hand, is just fabric that is arranged in loops and can't be moved once it's in place.
Question: Are all festoon lights always on? Are all festoon lights always on, but very dim? I just bought a new 5-led super bright white for my car dome and even when the car is off it's on but dim. I'm thinking that the old one, being much less powerful, was still always on but too dim to see?
Answer: festoon lights work the same as any light with a bulb. It takes a power source to make them work. If the power source is off then the light is off. The difference with the LED light is the diodes. The glow left when the light is turned off is from the reflection of the diodes. The diodes still have energy left in them and are therefore slow to fade.
Question: what is the nearest tube station from festoon to craydon? and craydon to festoon?
Answer: Are you thinking of Festoon Way? The nearest station there is Prince Regent which is actually part of the Docklands Light Railway.
Try here : http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ There's a journey planner on the site which should tell you what you need to know. And if you're not sure of locations, go to multimap. It shows nearby stations, etc.
Question: Will a 31mm festoon light fit In a BA falcon ute?
Answer: Yes if you are talking about the interior dome light.
Question: what's a renault festoon bulb ? I've been having trouble with the fuse blowing for my offside lights on my '53 reg. megane.I've put it in a renault dealers three times, the first time they changed the bulbs and the fuse, the second time they did the same, this time they changed the festoon bulbs, are these the number plate bulbs? I'm waiting for the fuse to blow again. help please.
Answer: Corrosion on the contacts is the big problem with this type of bulb and is a known problem on Renault's with the number plate light set into the bumper.
The fix is fairly simple, remove the bulb holder and replace it with a conventional holder for a bulb.
Try an auto electrician instead of the Renault dealer.
Question: English. Festoon please help? I'm doing a project on the word festoon, could someone please help me
make a sentence and describe it in other words.
please?
Answer: The crepe paper festoons hanging on the Homecoming float started to blow off in the high winds.
The buttercreme festoons piped around the outside of the cake between the rosettes were pretty as well as delicious!
The seniors festooned the bare branches of Mr. Cracken's tree with toilet paper on Halloween night.
Christmas trees look more festive festooned with glittering garlands and silvery tinsel.
Question: I need help troubleshooting a festoon light system. Any takers? My bed frame is made by Poliform. It has a row of many 6 watt, 24 volt festoon bulbs on the top, near the ceiling, to provide indirect lighting for the room. It stopped working one day, and I found a broken bulb. I'm not sure if the broken bulb had anything to do with why it stopped working. I replaced the bulb, and all the lights still do not work. This light series is hard wired to a switch on the wall. Between the switch and the wall, we have a metal box with a pull switch. I can't tell if the pull switch is for turning off and on, or resetting a fuse, or whatever, but I have tried everything, and the system still does not work. What's a good way to troubleshoot this without spending a lot of money?
Answers that are not thoughtful will receive a thumbs down.
Answer: Are these the bulbs that sort of glow instead of being bright?
It seems likely to me that the set is series (if pretty dim) or series-parallel, (if pretty bright).
In series wiring, if one bulb goes out, they all go out. (In series-parallel, each group of series will die with one dead bulb, but the next group in parallel will stay lighted.) But it is not easy or common to break a bulb and on a bed frame, it seems likely to me that in breaking one bulb, one or more next to it would be shaken enough to break the filament if not the glass. I would buy half a dozen bulbs and start replacing from one end. Each bulb taken out should be examined by eye to see if the filament clearly seems broken (fragments in the bulb, the ends of the filament hanging loose)
If you have a meter, check the bulbs that look ok. The voltage given could be tested using an automobile battery (still in the car) with a short hand contacted wire to provide half voltage (1/4 brightness or so) - wire to ground held against the shell, touch bottom contact to positive post.
Question: If you were an 18th century sailor, and your ship stopped in Tahiti, would you want to stay? Or go back to stinky London, or Boston. Would you live your days out festooned in tropical flowers, bathed by beautiful Tahitian women, or go back to the squalor of yor home port?
Answer: You seem to have answered your question already...
I would especially not want to go on a 1 or 2 year long trip on a ship...
Question: fabric to festoon village hall for party? pink fabric 150cms wide app. 100metres
Answer: Try www.abakhan.co.uk. Big fabric wholesale and retail supplier.
Question: What manufacturers of baby goods have a good sense of design? Was horrified at a 'Babies 'R' Us' store recently -- most of the things are hideous. All playpens save for one were, inexplicably, in industrial colours -- really, prison colour schemes. Silly, dust-catching frills on everything. Strollers looking like they're designed to haul garbage to the curb. The cribs were okay, but all identical. The high chairs made me long for the wooden antique at my family cottage (beautiful, but a hassle to clean, but most on the market now look like a hassle to clean), or the formed plastic simple thing I had as a tot. I'm not even going to get into how disgusted I am that everything's branded and festooned with licensed characters.
Besides Stokke and their $$$$ lovely line, where can I find stuff that doesn't outrage my sense of aesthetics? Given that we're likely importing a car seat from the Netherlands (long story...), I'm not adverse to importing; do the Japanese make nice stuff? Any recommended sites?
Answer: Must be nice to have the money to be picky.....
Have fun!
Question: Just a thought > how much have you fiddled on with Christmas lights ? Hi,
I make the effort, in that the bushes oustide the house have three sets of twinklind light, the boat is festooned along the roof.
BUT, some go totally overboard with Santas, bells, and dear knows what.
If the truth be told, Jesus was born in late March, it is just that they fiddled with the Gregorian calender.
Anyway, do you bung up extra bonny lights or not ?
Answer: Festooned boat on the water?
Lit at night and reflecting on the ripples, sounds dreamy.
I am a little behind but will start setting up the new lights tonight.
haha some I leave year round indoors as I love em so.
The net lights are nice across the ceiling or even just hanging like
fisherman's drape in the window with hanging silver tinsel, stars,
little silver bells and crystals I took off an old chandelier someone trashed.
Especially in a white on white room. Looks like an indoor winter wonderland
or ice palace.
Question: What do they mean when they say descriptive nouns, verbs, and adjectives? Isn't that like any noun or verb or adjective?
Like isn't "thickened" a descriptive adjective? and "festooned" a descriptive verb? and i don't know about descriptive nouns
Answer: A descriptive noun is a noun that adds a little personality to the noun itself. Let's try this. I could say, "The man asked me to pick a card." In that sentence, you don't really have any idea of what kind of man I'm talking about. What if I said, "The con-man asked me to pick a card"?
Now you have a completely different view of the situation. I'm about to get cheated! Both "man" and "con-man" are nouns, but one is more specific to the type and personality. (Other examples would be hobo, muscle-head, goth, diva, Guido... )
There really are no "descriptive" adjectives. Adjectives by definition are descriptive.
A descriptive verb would be something along the line of onomatopoeia. I wouldn't say, "The cymbals sounded." I would say, "The cymbals crashed." Crashed is a little more descriptive of the type of sound they made. She "tooted" her horn. He "massacred" his steak. He "assaulted" his food.
Question: How would atheists/agnostics react in this situation? What would you do if you visited the house of someone you respected and the walls were festooned in pictures of God and Jesus?
Answer: I can only speak for myself,I wouldn't react at all. Probably wouldn't notice and wouldn't comment if I did. At home and in the place of worship is where religion belongs after all.
Question: What do you think the Aussies will fear most when they tour England? Other than the England team?
The weather?
The beer?
The Barmy Army?
The pigeons in Trafalgar Square?
The motorways?
The strange accents?
The graffiti and litter festooning the highways and byways?
The Chavs and Pikeys?
The English Users of Y!A Cricket Section?
Answer: Out of all those probably the weather. After all, it had a hand in awarding the Ashes to England the last time they played here so they'll be praying for a sunny climate this time around.
You could also add these to your list of things they might fear:
- The food. The Aussies should sample some chips and gravy with peas thrown on top or some jellied eals - gross!
- Fisherman's Friend's. Those god awful lozenges that sit around festering the shelves of newsagents across the land. They're disgusting and eating one is likely to cause sickness.
- Hearing yet another soundbite from Michael Vaughan.
- Batting tips from Paul Nixon.
- The press. Though that's more the insulting, often racist, witterings of the tabloid's rather than the broadsheets.
- The police. They're always liable to either whack someone with a truncheon causing death or to shoot innocent people on tube trains.
- The shopping centres and all that hang around them.
- Wannabe WAGS flaunting their muffin tops and bad makeup jobs at the team.
- Mouthy old people.
- Gordon Brown. He might start wanting to be everyone's friend again and attempt to get down with the kids. Mind you the England team need to fear him as well lol.
- Morris Dancers. Hideous!
- The England players themselves. Harmless and Ian Ronald will be on a two man crusade to regain the Ashes after all.
Ok maybe they won't fear that last point so much. Lol.
Question: How can I video chat on Google Talk? I did a lot of research and found that Gmail has video chat support, so why not Google Talk? I want to be able to video chat w/out having to open my internet browser and just use Google Talk.
Apparently, for a while, there was video support from festoon, but the site was shut down and thus is useless to me. The plug-in Google supplies only works thru Gmail.
If you know of any plug-in that allows video in Google Talk please let me know
Answer: Google says right now it is supported only in Gmail not in Google Talk.
Check this:

Question: what is a festoon in geography?
Answer: Festoon is a free download that adds video conferencing facilities to Google Talk but I discovered that the time-delay with more than one user renders it almost useless! Even one to one, the video is very slow. However my connection could be a limiting factor.
Question: How do we know the length of a Jovian day? Scientists think Jupiter has a rocky or icy or solid core, but how do we know how fast it rotates under those thousands of miles of clouds through which nobody could even see the passage from day to night? And since the colorful cloud bands themselves, and the embedded Great Red Spot and other festoons slip by each other at different rates, how can you even tell which of those bands represents the "true" movement of the atmosphere, let alone how it moves respective to the suspected solid core?
(Same goes for Saturn, I guess...)
Answer: G'day Jamie,
Thank you for your question.
IAccording to NASA "In 1664 the English astronomer Robert Hooke first reported seeing a large oval spot on Jupiter, and additional spots were noted as telescopes improved. As the planet rotates on its axis, such spots are carried across the disk and can be used to measure Jupiter's speed of rotation. The giant planet spins so fast that a jovian day is less than half as long as a day on Earth, averaging just under ten hours."
As well NASA has sent several probes to Jupiter.

Question: Have you ever disrespected the American Flag? (d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or
drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free.
g) The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of
it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design,
picture, or drawing of any nature.
(j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic
uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations.
Obviously Americans disrespect the flag daily, but I guess we nip and pick what codes we wanna follow and which ones we don't.
Answer: No, absolutely not !
I fought for what our flag stands for. I make it a point to educate people on the proper use when I see something that is disrespectful. I have actually removed someones baseball cap for them during the playing of our national anthem. I asked him to remove it and he chose not to. I told him he could have it back after the anthem was over and that's exactly when he got it back.
Thanks for posting the question out there with some etiquette tips !!!
Question: Which wireless router penetrates walls the best? I currently have a D-Link DI-634M wireless super-G pre-N MIMO router, with the corresponding D-Link DWL-G650M wireless card on my laptop. I've been unhappy with the loss of signal as I move my laptop into other rooms. More than one room away from the router, and signal drops unacceptably.
At the time I bought this router, this MIMO technology was all the rage. But I'm really unhappy with the indoor through-wall range. Ideally, I'd like to cover my house with wireless signal without festooning it with wireless repeaters.
Is there a really powerful wireless router you recommend which is good at penetrating walls?
Answer: I have a Linksys WRT54G. No speed boost or other add ons. I can go 3 floors from my router. About 350 feet through walls and floors. I still get a VERY GOOD signal. Try broadcasting on a different channel. If this does not help, try setting the BEACON interval to 50. If that does not work, I would try a Linksys.
