Epiphora
The condition of watery eyes
Question: What is the main meaning of the word epiphora? Please answer my question
Answer: epiphora-->Repetition of the ends of two or more successive sentences, verses, etc.
Epiphora may refer to:
* Epiphora (medical), excessive tear production usually a result from an irritation of the eye
* Epistrophe, the repetition of the same word or words at the end of successive phrases, clauses or sentences
* Epiphora, an orchid genus nowadays considered a synonym of Polystachya
* Epiphora (fungi), a fungus genus in the Dothideomycetes order
Question: Do pit bulls ever have epiphora? (Teary eyes)? My pit bull puppy is 11 weeks and has teary eyes and has since I got her. She is perfectly healthy however. I didn't think this was common in pit bulls, more like Maltese and Poodles and Bichons. Have you ever known a chronic teary eyes pit bull?
Answer: Have a look at her eye lashes, if they point inwards then she can have something called entropion. This will cause excessive tearing because of the irritation to the eye. My lab had this and her face was covered in tear stains, it has to be corrected surgically but it is a very simple procedure. Best thing to do is ask your vet to look at her eyes when she in is for her next puppy vaccine booster, or sooner if you think she is in discomfort.
Question: Need help 3 week old cat have Epiphora.? hi
first of all i live in muscat,OMAN.i picked the cat from a Street because she was very weak and near to death. i have been feeding her for a weak and now she is better but for 2 day her eyes are looking very different and red i searched the internet and found that it has (Epiphora) now guys i tell you my problem i am not a rich guy and can not take the cat to the vet because i donot have money.my concern is that she is going to go blind becasue i can not take her to the vet and i do not know what to do. i have been cleaning cats eyes for two day but its growing.please help tell me if Epiphora is not treated will she die or go blind.can you recomend a treatment at home that i can do.please help
i donot want this cat to die and please help me i am very sad for my cat.
Answer: A cat will not die from over flow of tears, but I don't think that is the problem. This usually will lead to an eye infection. Watch her for a change in the stuff coming out of her eyes. I am sorry to say that there is nothing you can do on your own, a vet is needed to check her out and give her the proper medication to clear it up. I know your heart is breaking but without a vet there is nothing more we can help you with. Good luck with your baby.

Question: Possible Epiphora in my cat? My 4, almost 5 year old cat possibly has Epiphora. She has an unusual amount of tears that dries black on the run by her nose and around her eye. I looked it up, and it seems to be a close match, but I want to know exactly, but her eye isn't bloodshot red or anything. But it's been going on for at least 2-3 months.
Would there be any non-prescriptions to treat this, home remedies, or would I have to go to the vet? My mom refuses to take her to the vet because she doesn't think that anything is wrong with her. So if she does have Epiphora, and I would have to go to the vet, what would be the approximate treatment cost for it, that way I know how much to save up? (US dollars) I'm not extremely worried, as it doesn't seem to bother her too much, I just wipe around her eye with a damp towel 2 times a day so it doesn't build up.

Question: what is a basic defention for red yeast? i would also like to know what epiphora is and pthylosproin and acidophilus is. please help!
Answer: Epiphora is an overflow of tears, usually caused by insufficient drainage of the tear film from the eye.
When the facial hair stays damp from excessive tearing, it is the breeding ground for bacteria and yeast. In this situation "Ptyrosporin" or "Red Yeast" is one of the most conventional yeast infections that can result. It causes a deep reddish-brown stain.
Acidophilus is a general name for a group of probiotics, often added to milk or sold as a capsule, which contains one or more of the following bacteria that aid in digestion:
Question: Is it possible my pit bull will have chronic teary eyes like poodles? The scientific name is something like Epiphora. Something like that...anyways my pit bull puppy is 11 weeks and has teary eyes and has since I got her. She is perfectly healthy however. I didn't think this was common in pit bulls, more like Maltese and Poodles and Bichons. Have you ever known a chronic teary eyes pit bull?
Yeah didn't mean to put it here, clicked too fast and I suppose it put it here b/c of the "teary eyes"....
Answer: Perhaps you should put this question in the pet section.
Question: English!!! I need smart people's help on this!!!? Okay, so in English we've been studying anaphora's, epiphora's, parallelism, anadiplosis, asyndeton, polysyndeton, hypophora, scesis onomaton, diacope, antimetabole and epizeuxis. However, my teacher wants to know the word for repeating sentence structure. Is there another word for repeating sentence structure?? I NEED HELP PEOPLE!!!!
Answer: The primary repetitive structures are
Anaphora which is the repetition of a word or phrase in an initial position
Boots, boots, boots, marching down...
Epistrophe which is the repetition of a word or phrase in a final position
And we sat in the mud and the rain, rain, rain....
Symploce is a combination of anaphora and epistrophe--double repetition at both beginning and end
Hello, hello she cried, waving, waving...
Anadiplosis is the repetition of the last word of one phrase at the beginning of the next
Down I went into the dark, into the dark and musty places of my soul....
Diacope is simple repetition with a phrase or pause in between
He stood tall, my dad, he stood tall....
Antimetabole is reverse repetition
golden wheat glowing wheat golden in the sun...
Epizeuxis is the simple repetition of a word for emphasis
she had black, black hair...
The other literary devises you mention are not strictly repetitive, but are other forms of emphasis.
You didn't mention
Ploce which is the general catchall for insistent repetition that doesn't fall into a set pattern, or
Epanalepsis Repetition of the same word or phrase at both beginning and end of a single line or phrase
However, since you threw in other emphatic devices, I wonder if your teacher is talking about true structure:
verb noun noun verb
verb noun noun verb
as opposed to repetitive words within the sentence.
Isocolon comes to mind as one possibility; parallel syntax is a similar concept.
hope this helps!

Question: i need help on my homework!! What poem(s) or song lyrics use the literary term "Epistrophe"??? im almost done with it but i need help with finding a poem or poems or a song(s) where that literary term is used.
Epistrophe - also known as epiphora, is a figure of speech and the counterpart of Anaphora. It is the repetition of the same word or words at the end of successive phrases, clauses or sentences. It is an extremely emphatic device because of the emphasis placed on the last word in a phrase or sentence.
i would really appreciate your help, please...
i really would appreciate it if you could site the poem or song that uses the term,
Answer: Shakespeare's, "The Tempest" seems to be one.
Hourly joys be still upon you!
Juno sings her blessings on you. [. . .]
Scarcity and want shall shun you,
Ceres' blessing so is on you.
— Shakespeare, The Tempest (4.1.108-109; 116-17)
Question: Will a momma dog clean up here puppies forever? Here is the thing. I have a poodle/wesite mix who thinks all my other pets are her children. My first was a kitten i got from the shelter at just over 8 weeks old. She adopted him and would lick him and false nurse him. He is now 8 months old and still tries to nurse every day (even though nothing comes out). He just does it for comfort, like a pacifier.
And then I got a pit bull puppy from the pound a couple months ago. Mattie adopted her too. Ginny the puppy doesn't try to nurse but Mattie licks her and cleans her face.
Now, I am asking because my pit bull, Ginny, has epiphora. Thats when the eyes run too much and they always have dirty looking eyes (like white fluffy dogs tend to have). Now Mattie cleans her eyes every day and I never have to wipe them and they always look perfect. Anyone have a mom dog and her baby that they kept? Does the mom still lick the pup?
It would be really cool if I never had to clean up Ginny's eyes, shes all white....
Oh and I wanted to ad, Mattie still licks the kitten..
And I meant to say "her" and "add". New laptop, getting used to typing on it
Answer: She sounds like a wonderful dog. She likes to groom. Some dogs just like to groom.

Question: How do I help my cat who has FVR? My cat is 2 years old, he was a stray and has had Feline viral rhinotracheitis since he was a kitty. That dark crud (chronic epiphora) comes out of his eyes pretty much constantly, and he sneezes sometimes. I'm worried because he just seems to be less energetic, sleeping more and just acting sort of depressed as the days go by. I don't know if this is related, but he often fumbles and falls when trying to jump onto the bathroom counter top (3-ish feet high maybe?).
It's breaking my heart, any advice? I'm open-minded and I really want to help him. 10 points to best answer.
Answer: Fumbling and falling could be inner ear, or it could be neuro. Either way, you have a cat with a chronic medical issue and needs better medical care than all of us amateurs can offer. Call in the expert. If your vet doesn't seem up to the task, try another.
Question: i believe my cat has epiphora . what can i do to help my cat?
He has not been to a vet for a little over a year , he is a house cat . and yes he is making tears . he still eats and drinks . to me his mood hasn't change.and when i wipe the tears form his eyes its a reddish brown color
Answer: V-E-T
It may not be and you maybe able to help the cat either way.
