Concealer
A cosmetic used to cover blemishes and neutralize pigment irregularities
Question: concealer? i'm looking for concealer; i've never needed it before because i'm finally starting to break out. i hear that the yves saint laurent touche eclat concealer is one of the best out there, but it's $40. is that a reasonable price? what do you suggest? i'm open to any suggestions in any price range, i'm just wondering if you've ever used the YSL concealer and what concealer you prefer. i prefer brands that they carry at bloomingdale's/neiman marcus but drugstore brands are alright too, just as long as they work. i use bare escentuals foundation/mineral veil too, if that helps. thanks!
Answer: The YSL concealer is pricey, yes. But it is good. Having said that if you are covering marks, pimples whatever I wouldn't use that one. It's better for under eye circles.
I think the Benefit concealers are great. Clinique make a few different ones with different applicators which are good.
But for my pimples I use a Napoleon one, I put it on under foundation and then once I have blended, I sometimes put a little more on if it has moved, then lightly dust with a powder.
Question: Concealer? I have very oily skin and I need an inexpensive concealer that can help cover my blemishes and maybe help with my oily skin. Do you have any suggestions?
Answer: I have always been a department store makeup user. I have very oily skin, and I live in an area that is very humid (which mfakes things worse). When concealing you want to have the right shade of concealer. I use Prescriptives camouflage cream becasue I have a hard time finding makeup to match my skin tone. I also started using bare essentials mineral makeup. I found that using mineral makeup helped to clear up my complexion. I hope this helps.
Question: CONCEALER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!… Ok its another concealer problem. I have spots :( and every time i apply concealer it goes all dry and horrible. All my friends always ask me why i have sand on my face:0 and im like wtf its concealer damit!!!!!!!!! So anyway does anyone have any tips on how i can apply it without this happening? thx 4 any answers! xxx
Answer: you shouldn't wear any concealer use a moisturizer before you apply concealer or makeup primer for a smooth canvas on your skin and use a good concealer.
Question: What is the best concealer for dark circles? Guys I need help with finding a full coverage concealer for dark under eye circles, I have looked at you tube videos from those makeup gurus, and have narrowed it down to these:
Coastal scents camo quads
Laura Mercier secret camouflage
and Amazing concealer
Please answer this question if you have tried one or all of these concealers because I don't want to have to waste my money on concealers if they're not gonna work.
Thank you!
Answer: You can try both at Sephora. I've worked at Sephora and tried both, and I would suggest the Laura Mercier, although people tend to hype Amazing concealer more.
Instyle voted Laura Mercier as the best concealer of 2009.
Question: What is a good concealer/foundation for covering up blackheads? My main acne problem is the blackheads on my nose. Sometimes when I put concealer on before I go to school, by the end of the day the concealer is on everywhere besides the blackheads. What is a good concealer/foundation to cover them? Thanks!
Answer: What I think you should do is get rid of the black heads first, before you cover them up and potentially make them even worse with makeup. Buy some good pore cleansing nose strip thingies and use them, if you buy decent ones, they work much better than cheap ones!
And the reason the concealer is everywhere but the blackheads is because they are producing so much oil that the makeup just glides off them. Make sure to remove them first so you can have healthy skin and avoid the problem in the first place instead of trying to cover it up :)
Good luck! I just bought some pore strips today finally... I just realised how bad I need them.. Lol.
Question: Is concealer supposed to be 1 shade lighter than your foundation? Or the same color as the foundation? I've never worn concealer because I've never had acne. But lately I've been in the sun and I'm starting to get a little bit of pink on my cheeks. I want to use the concealer to even out the pink.
Should I get concealer that is 1 shade lighter than my foundation? Or should the concealer be the same color as the foundation?
Answer: one shade lighter, because layering foundation over concealer will make it darker. you want the skin to be an even color.
good luck, beautiful lady!
Question: What is the best concealer for dry and sensitive skin? I can't cover up blemishes any more because of my dry skin! I want it to be a drugstore concealer! Please don't say Maybelline dream mousse concealer..
I want the concealer to cover-up pimples, redness, and under eye circles! I want it to last at least 8 hours! I don't want it to be cake-y either!
Do you think I should get a foundation too?
I don't want to wear a foundation if I don't need too!
Answer: You have to use a good moisturizer, like Ponds Dry Skin Cream before you put on the foundation.
Foundation evens out your skin tone, so I recommend it, Revlon ColorStay Active Light Makeup, it's a very light feeling but covers well. I have acne scars and it covers those.
And if you still have a few blemishes showing through, dab a little concealer AFTER putting on the foundation. But make sure you use one about the same color as the foundation or you will look like you have white spots on your face.
Then use a LOOSE powder with a good brush over that. Pressed powder makes your skin flake more when you put it on.
Trust me on this, I used to have acne AND dry skin, I know how tough it can be!
Question: How to keep a concealer from creasing and accentuating the fine lines under the eyes? Does something need to be applied prior to the concealer? What type of concealer would minimize these problems? But it needs to be heavy enough to cover up significant dark circles. If you have some specific concealer brands suggestions, etc...list those as well. Thanks for the help!
Answer: When you're doing your makeup routine. Start with an under eye primer. My favorite is Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, but there are a lot out there. Then put foundation on. If you put the concealer on and then the foundation, the foundation will just wipe it off and it'll look grey. So make sure you put the concealer on last. I use Bourjois Imperfection Concealer. I do this routine everytime I put on my makeup and the dark circles are nonexistant and I've never had to worry about lines. So try that and I hope it works.
Question: What kind of concealer do you use with certain kinds of foundation? So, how many different types of concealer are there? I've seen powder and liquid.
What kind of concealer should I use with the types of foundation?
Mineral, liquid, matte, tinted mouisturizer foundation?
Answer: Mineral - you should use a liquid concealer. Something like Almay SmartShade or anything liquid from Maybelline :)
Liquid - this should be concealer enough, if not, then use a powder concealer.
Matte - Put on liquid concealer after you moisturize, then put on powder, that way you can have the matte finish.
Tinted Moisturizer - Powder or liquid, it depends on which one you prefer.
The one concealer that would great with ANY of these foundations, would be Maybelle Dream Mousse Concealer. It blends in get, amazing coverage, lasts forever, and it's a mousse so it's not too liquidy or it won't dry out your skin.
Question: What brand of concealer and facial scrub would you recommend? I hate all the white heads on my face. Plus the dark circles under my eyes are kind of frustrating. I've used every possible concealer there is and I don't get the result I want. Would anyone tell me what concealer and facial scrub should I buy?
Answer: Hi,
The best concealer Ive come across is chimare mineral makeup cream concealer- it is absolutely THE best thing ever. its so light, doesnt cake and you can wear it on its own without foundation and you cant see it, and its waterproof!
Question: Can I exchange a MAC concealer for a different one at a different location? I bought the MAC select moisturecover concealer and I don't like it, I want to exchange it for the MAC studio finish concealer. But the store where I bought the concealer is VERY far and I need to exchange it at my mall. Am I allowed to exchange it at a different location?
Answer: Yes, you are allowed to return it another MAC location--It does not matter what department store/MAC retail store is. If it is Macy's then they won't take the return unless if it is only from Macy's.
Good Luck!!

Question: What's a good concealer for my red face that is reasonably priced and lasts all day? I've been using a Physicians Formula Concealer Twins 2-in-1 Correct & Cover Cream Concealer, and it has worked well, but it's a bit expensive and it doesn't last as long as i'd like it to. There's not a whole lot of product in the container, so it gets used up quickly. What's a good concealer for my red face that is reasonably priced and lasts all day?
Answer: BARE MINERALS is AMAZING - I'm blond with really red undertones and it totally covers. Its not really expensive, especially when you consider the foundation lasts like, 5 months, and the bronzer Ive had for 2 yrs!!
As far as how long it lasts, I;ve worn it all day, fallen asleep in it, and STILL had to wash it off the next morning.
(I LOVE THIS STUFF!)
Question: What is the best drugstore concealer with very good blemish coverage? I currently use Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer however it just doesn't cover up my blemishes and i really need a great concealer that when applied covers my blemishes. I do have acne so this isn't the occasional zit i need to cover up and I'm allergic to both foundation in liquid and powder form so i can't use that so I need a good drugstore concealer that will cover up my blemishes. Thank you so much!
Answer: Okay this one is really good in my opinion. This one also has that "building effect" where if your skin is really bad one day or has blemishes you can add more on and it will have better looking coverage while still looking good. With most concealers if you add too much it looks plastic and unnatural, and after a certain point just doesn't cover up the marks!
Well CoverGirl Trueblend (with bendable minerals) has been working great! I wear natural ivory
http://www.amazon.com/CoverGirl-Trublend… To show even more proof everyone has given it 5 stars on Amazon! Nice I'm glad other people had as much luck as I did.
Always put a good moisturizer on your face first. Its good for your face and keeps the makeup looking natural. Hope you like it, it's really good.
If you are allergic to it I would suggest Covergirl clean, it comes in oil control.
Question: What concealer is really good to cover up dark circles under eyes? I have really bad dark circles under my eyes and i dont know what concealer thats really good to cover them up any suggesstions are brands of makeup that i can use perhaps..?
Answer: here's an idea. first look to see what color or colors your under eye circles are. you know, buish, purplish, reddish, etc. think of the color wheel. complimentary colors are those that are opposites on the color wheel. when you combine complimentary colors you end up with a brown color. a neutral. you want to apply this to the discoloration under your eyes.
for example: my under eye circles when i don't get enough sleep (which is a lot of the time) are mostly purple i'd say. but there is blue in it. i know that purple and yellow are complimentary colors. and blue and orange are complimentary colors. so for my concealor i want a yellowish orangish color. when applying that it should turn into a neutral color, brown. after that i can put regular skin tone convealor on over it and it makes a huge difference.
now i know that was long. and i'm so sorry if i didn't explain it well, but if you still are confused you can look it up online. trust me on this. i use green concealor for the redness on my face then put skin tone concealor over it and it does wonders.
try it out. you can buy green lavender and yellow concealors for sure i know of.
Question: What is the best concealer for facial redness? My face is always red around my nose and cheeks, and I really need something to cover the redness. My skin is also very sensitive. I haven't tried anything for it yet, so will Physicians Formula green concealer cover the redness? I'm not sure if I want to wear foundation yet. Does anyone know some concealer that is a reasonable price (up to $15) that will work?
Answer: Using something with yellow or green in it that isn't too heavy will definitely work but they are more for spot treatments usually. If it isn't too red then just try out a heavier foundation, if it is because your skin is dry try using a tinted moisturizer before spending money on a concealer. Make sure you use a proper skin regime including a cleanser, exfoliant, and moisturizer.
If you do take regular proper care of your skin it might be more beneficial to try a different face wash, moisturizer and exfoliant than you're currently using. It's better to fix what's causing the redness than to cover it up. Make sure you only use products from the same line as they are made to balance each other and the PH level in your skin, an unbalanced PH level can cause redness. Sometimes a facial can help as well.
Try Sephora, they have tons of skin products and makeup and their sales people are great and full of information. You can even try going to a makeup counter at a department store, just make sure that the person is certified and knows what they're talking about.
Question: What is a good concealer to use for really bad under eye cirlces? Iv'e tried using matte mousse concealer but dont think it works maybe because its to dark. What concealer do u think would cover my under eye circle, can be bought in the uk and is cheap?
Answer: Well my friend has the same problem as you and she loves matte mousse but maybe you tried the wrong shade?
Or Max factor master touch concealer
hope i helped x
Question: What is the best concealer for fair skin? I currently use MAC concealer and I am curious if there is any better ones out there. I also have fair skin so if you know of a concealer that looks natural with fair skin please let me know!
Also, if it could be something that I can find at a drug store that would be awesome. It's kinda a drag having to go to a MAC counter or the mall when your not in the mood :(
Also, THANK YOU FOR ANSWERING!
Answer: I'm fair skinned as well.
and my mom won't buy me expensive MAC makeup, so i use:
Rimmel London Stay Matte
and BonneBell Bronzer over that.
to touch up I use:
Stay Matte (Rimmel London) Compact concealor and foundation.
Question: What is the best concealer for hiding redness? I want a creamy concealer that is reasonably priced and will last all day. I've heard about green concealers that cancel out redness, so any opinions from people who have tried these are welcomed. Please be specific about products that I can try or look for information about. Thanks!
Answer: I use the green concealer from Maybelline. It comes in a twistup container, like lipstick, and is thick and creamy. Don't put it on by applying it directly. Put some on your hand and use a small brush to put the teenist amount on the red spots as possible. A little goes a looooong way.
I only ever use it on the worst spots because it is very finiky to get the hang of, and it's not really necessary on the spots a regular concealer can cover up.
Question: What is a good concealer to cover very red zits? I just broke out in a few very red pimples and I put a ot of cover up on them but it doesn't completely cover them. I heard that green concealer helps a lot, but what is a very good concealer that will totally cover up these zits? Thanks!
Answer: use a primer to neutralize redness and try nuetrogena for liquid bare esentuals for mineral
