Antihelix
The inner fold in the cartilage that gives the outer ear its shape
Question: What kind of jewelry can you wear in a forward helix/antihelix piercing? So I'm thinking about getting a forward helix piercing on my left ear like this:http://flickr.com/photos/aestheticsbodym…
but I'm wondering, what kind of jewelry can I put in? I don't like the look of the CBR that much and I was wondering if it's possible to put in a tiny diamond stud, kind of like a tragus.
Thanks!
Answer: Ask the piercer, they'll be sure to know.
Question: I was born with a tiny hole in my antihelix part of my ear. Does anyone know what caused it.? Also, three years ago, I had it pierced. It didn't hurt, just a tiny little "pop". I tried to mirror the pierce on my right side. It wounldn't heal, so I took the piercing out.
Answer: worm probably ate a hole through it
Question: antihelix peircing.? okay so i do all my own things, i cut and color my own hair and ive done all my own piercings.. i have 8 in my ears and i used to have a nose and lip. but i took those out.
i really want to get my antihelix of my right ear pierced, it would look really cool with my cartilage piercing i have on that ear.
has anyone gotten it done, or done it themselves?
if so does it hurt? i really want to do it before next week and i want to know what to expect,
thank youuuu =]
Answer: hey
Lindsay Logan "GIRL"
OK
I don't have it Cuz I'm a guy
but i really like them on the girls
I guess it does hurt yeah
but not that much but since u have alot of them on the other ear so it wouldn't b a big problem
And one of my friends did it last week she said it did hurt her but it was totally worth it
SO GOOD LUCK
Question: Do any problems arise from having a tragus and an antihelix piercing on the same ear? On my left ear I have three lobe piercings and a rook and i'm happy with all of those. I feel like I'm lacking on my right ear though so I was thinking of a tragus piercing, because I had that before and really enjoyed it but I also like the look of the antihelix. I considered their proximity and was wondering if there was any problems that could arise from them being close. I do not plan to get any more ear piercings.
Thank you :)
(tragus and antihelix shown here http://www.meinpiercing.de/index2.php?option=com_datsogallery&func=wmark&mid=1872)
Answer: You should be fine as long as you keep it clean and do not play with it, they are far enough away from each other and should not hurt anymore then if you go them done at separate times.
Good luck (: xx
Question: Which type of piercing would look best? I have two lobe piercings in each ear and I was planning on getting an antihelix piercing in my right ear. I am now considering maybe an inner conch piercing instead. Any insight as to which piercing would look best?
Thanks!
Answer: Antihelix would look better in my opinion.
Question: I have tingling/tickling in my outer ear. What is this a symptom of? "Ear anatomy" yields medical name for area, crura antihelix, but as of yet, not what tingling of this area is indicative of. Many nerve endings, good acupuncture area, but how is all this connected?
Answer: Could be an ear infection. Go see your doctor.
.
Question: Is Otoplasty covered by OHIP for patients under18? I am a male suffering from protruding ears. I feel that both ears require the antihelix to be flattened. I do not have prominent bowls, but the "tops" of my ears seem to stick out. I am looking foward to having an inscisionless otoplasty procedure done and was interested in possible surgery dates. I am also aware of surgery costs.
I am 17 years old and am hoping that I can have this procedure done for less than $2500.
* I was born in canada and I am a canadian citizen
Answer: Your best course of action is to make an appointment with a plastic surgeon, let him guide you as to what procedure is appropriate and whether it will be covered.
Plan on paying for that office visit yourself. You may need parental permission to have any elective procedure until you are 18.
Question: Are my piercings infected or just irritated? I recently got four piercings. Recently, as in five days ago. I got my traguses, and an antihelix orbital. The traguses hurt more during the piercing process, but I can't even feel them now. The orbital didn't hurt at all going in, but now it throbs and the slightest touch brings excruciating pain. This makes cleaning 2-3 times a day quite dreadful.
This is my first experience with non-lobe piercings. I understand that there is less skin and nerve in the tragus than in the thinner cartilage, but should my orbital hurt so much? Perhaps it is infected? I do not sleep on it. I use GermX on my hands and H2Ocean to clean it 3 times a day. Is this pain normal? It's unbearable, almost to the point of me removing it and wasting 50$.
Perhaps I should return to my piercer and ask? Any suggestions would be awesome.Thanks.
Answer: You're correct in returning to the piercer to get their advice.
I suspect that the one you can barely touch to clean around will have to be removed.
I've seen some nasty pinna infections from people persevering with infected ear piercings. It doesn't take long for an infection to develop. However, yours may not be infected. The really painful orbital one may just be in a position that doesn't suit you.
Go back and ask the piercing practitioners advice.
Good luck!
Question: What do you call this piercing? its a little ways below a helix piercing on the ear and its on the rim. Like right outside where your antihelix is. What's it called? Is there a name for it?
Answer: anti helix lml probably not the answer but uh yea
Question: Can frostbite/windburn symptoms be delayed? Can frostbite/windburn symptoms be delayed? I was in a snow storm yesterday with extremely cold temperatures, and no earmuffs/scarf. I woke up this morning to a red, swollen left ear (helix and antihelix) which is sensitive to the touch and burns bit. The pain subsides for a bit when I put aloe moisturizer on it, but it only subsides for about 15 minutes. Not sure what I should do..
Answer: Common warning signs include a progressive numbness and a loss of sensitivity to touch. The affected area will also tingle or feel as if it is burning. As the condition worsens, the pain begins to fade or eventually disappear.
The skin also changes color when exposed to extreme cold. It blanches, then may appear red, and finally white-purple if allowed to freeze.
you state that you were in a snowstorm, and then I assume you went into a warm area? If you have, and you felt ok then, then it is nont frostbite. It is possible that you were sleeping in a cold room and then it caused your ear to be swollen. Try to stay warm and see if the problem persists. If so, it is not frostbite.
Question: Industrial Piercing Experiences? I got my right ear pierced through the helix and antihelix on tuesday. Dealt with the mild bleeding from either catching it on a shirt or just by salt soaks. I've been using Satin to clean it too! :) My ears don't bleed anymore, thankfully! I've been supplementing my diet with vitamin C pills, Vitamin water - Defence which has C and Zinc.. mmm, and now.. ibuprofen. It swelled up as do all piercings and with that it's started throbbing. So today i've decided on a bag of ice and a papertowel before work hah.
Pierced at 12g at a studio in Largo, FL.
How was everyone elses experiences with these and how long was yours swollen/etc?
Answer: sorry havn't had any experiences but my friend went there and she was swollen/bleeding about 4-5 days after and now it only occasionally bleeds but overall she said it was a preety good job
Question: Tragus piercing possibility? I have my lobes pierced twice and my cartilage pierced at the front of my ear (almost the antihelix). I got my cartilage piercing done about 6 months ago and LOVE it. Now, I want another piercing, and I was thinking tragus, but I'm not 100% sure yet. What is it like compared to cartilage piercing (as in pain during piercing, ease of cleaning, etc.)?
Thanks!
Answer: i have all of those done as well, and i personally didn't find the actual piercing process any more or less painful between the helix, anti-helix, or tragus. the cleaning and everything is the same. it does take a little longer to heal the tragus since the cartilage is thicker there, and they're prone to hypertrophic scarring, so make sure not to sleep on it or use that ear for the phone. follow your after care instructions very carefully and you'll be fine!
Question: Ear piercing question? I know for sure I want my tragus done but I was also thinking of my conch... do you think they'd look good together on the same ear or should I go for a different spot? I have 3 lobe piercings on each ear and wanted an antitragus or antihelix on my other ear.
Answer: same ear would look amazing
Question: My ear cracks when I touch it!? The antihelix part of my left ear cracks whenever I push on it. I would just not push on it but it feels like it needs to pop and if I don't push on it it drives me nuts! Every single time I push it it cracks and has been like this ever since I can remember. Is this something I should go to the doctor about? There's nothing about it on google so it makes me wonder if this is not too common. It drives me crazy hahah thank youuuu
Oh and after I push it for awhile it gets really hot!
Answer: if the anti helix means the cartilage i know what you'r talking about. mine cracks and it hurts when i pull on my eat to relieve the (not necessarily painfull feeling. there is nothing a doctor can do about it. it's just a quark some ppl like you and i
have. sometimes it drives me crazy too. if it happen if you wear glasses or some other pressure on your ear, i think it's just a nerve that is reacting to whatever pressure is there. hope this helps
Question: My ear hurts?!!! What's wrong with it?!? Any ear experts out there?!!! I have noticed a very large bump has grown on the antihelix of my ear. It is slightly red and only hurts when you touch it. It hurts very badly when I try to talk on the phone and when I sleep on that side of my head! Please help! I need expert advice!
Answer: Wear a condom when having ear sex.
Question: ear piercing pain ranking?!? I already have my cartilage, ear lobes, and nose pierced. but i want another ear piercing. I am always anxious before a piercing, so i want to know the ranking from most pain to least pain all the piercings.
I was thinking about getting a conch piercing, but i heard that hurt REALLY bad. so i am worried for it. i also think antihelix piercings are cool.
but anyway if someone could rank them for me that would be great!
Answer: a family member has them both.
she said like a 6.5. 7 ish becuase they use a needle, its not like a gun when the pain is there and then the after effect, its like pain pain pain.....after effect pain from the long pain process during....
Question: What ear piercing should I get? I have lobes and left cartilage done. I have small ears and I dont think I can get an industrial since my ears are kinda small and my antihelix is raised and comes up higher on my ear more than it should be for an industrial to work well although I want one so badly!! I really want an industrial! I wish it would work for me! Heres what I'm considering. oh and It would have to go on my right ear since I have my left helix pierced and planning on getting my left nostril done soon.
~snug
~forward helix
~rook
~conch (it would look really cute with just a little diamond stud earring. how much does this one hurt? anyone know?)
~orbital (but it seems like the jewelry would be really hard to get in, especially in cartilagey areas
PS I'm only fifteen right now (I'd be getting this once I'm old enough to get pierced without a parent) but I want to be a vet or something in that area, so do you know if these piercings are banned or anything in that profession?
Thank you!
Answer: I had my snug. Let me TELL YOU, I had it for 6 months and it was the worst pain ive ever felt. Not the actual piercing part, that was bearable, just the healing was hell. Ive healed over 10 piercings and I could not heal that little fuck3r, and it hurt for every second of those 6 months I had it.
I have my rook, I keep a hoop in it. Its really cute and really interesting. It is really hard to get jewelry in and out of, but most piercers charge you like 3-5 dollars to change jewelry so its not that big of a deal. The healing process went pretty smooth even though it had its bad days.
I have my industrial, and I LOOOVE it!! It wasnt very painful and healed very well. Most places carry a variety of jewelry, including industrial bars, and will choose one that will fit the length of your ear. The bars come in many lengths, so if you want it, its possible even though your ears are small.
I just got my conch done a few weeks ago, I got it done with a bar with a clear gem, and it looks adorable. It is by far my favorite of my ear piercings!! It does not hurt at all, the piercing itself didn't really hurt, and its so cute!!
Have you seen a tragus? I have mine, and its very small and easy to heal. Its one of the more common cartilage piercings, and most jobs wouldnt even notice that one.
I cant help you with the forward helix/orbital, because I really dont like those piercings or else id have them :P lol. The vet assistant at my vet has a dermal next to her eye, it probably just depends on the place. A piercing can be taken out though, so live your life and do what you want while you still can! As with all piercings, make sure you TAKE CARE OF THEM PROPERLY! It may seem like a pain at the time, but its well worth it. http://tattoo.about.com/cs/beginners/l/b… That website is great for aftercare instructions.
Goodluck on whatever you decide!
Question: In ear earphones crackle? Hey, i have some rather nice in ear earphones... they've served me well. but the plastic membrane started to crackle with loud bass in songs the other week in one of them. its already starting to annoy me. is there a quick fix?
if not, can anyone please tell me some good ones that handle DEEP LOUD base and loud music without crackling. and have good compression. I prefer the ear plugs that go right into the ear canal... like my current ones. "Sony MDR-ED21LP"
they look like this
http://www.productwiki.com/upload/images/sony_mdr_ed21lp.jpg
well, anything similar to that shape i would like. they occupy the antihelix part of the lobe and the sound comes out from a little bit that seats directly in your ear canal. ive never had better quality from any other design. good compression is a major part of sound quality.
My budget is pretty low. well... below £35

The CX come with six buds that fit over the actual transducers, and you use which is best for you. No two people have the same ears so Sennheiser gives it's customers an option of getting a better fit.

If she got CX-500s for £12.99 they were probably fake and she'll be very disappointed. Get them from a proper shop.

Answer: Into your internet search engine type "ohip coverage" and that will give you most of your answers. All insurance is different and the fact that you are in the US means that you have to abide by our laws which pertains to underage individuals. It may be to your benefit (money-wise) to have the surgery done in Canada
Question: What's this sudden cold/wet feeling on my outer ear? *googles for a parts of the ear picture* Um... Somewhere around the antihelix. The feeling comes suddenly, and I almost thought it was wet, I feel it but there isn't anything on it. The feeling goes away fast too. It happens seldomly, and not in any specific situations.
Answer: anxiety neurosis.
