Aesthetic
Relating to beauty
Question: Aesthetic relation of the Creation and the built environment? Does anyone has resources on philosophy of aesthetic / environmental aesthetic regarding the Creation and the built environment?
I'm writing a paper on how and what shall we build from an aesthetic view point. Thanks.
Answer: I know of a couple of books related directly to aesthetics, and I'm fairly sure both of them at least touch on the Creation (though they aren't based on it, by any means). I'd recommend Umberto Eco's "History of Beauty" along with this huge compendium of various aesthetics-related philosophical essays...I think it's literally called "Aesthetics," and published by Routledge. It's about 2000 pages long and weighs 15 pounds.
Question: How do you decide if something has aesthetic value or not? Why do you like certain artworks while others don't move you at all, while others yet are just "rubbish" to you? What standards would you apply to a work or art to decide if it is of aesthetic value? How it relates its content? Artefactual elements? Social/use-value considerations? Postmodern levelling?
How should aesthetic form best mediate sedimented content?
Answer: Pretentious? Moi?
If it speaks to you, admire its qualities. If you don't like a work but someone else does, ask them what it is they particularly like about it.
It's good that we don't all like the same things.
Question: How does an aesthetic view sacrifice, temptation, and sin? I am confused as to how an aesthetic views sacrifice, temptation, and sin. Please provide some kind of source and a thorough answer. And do not answer with just "badly" or something unhelpful like that.
Answer: - I'd say the sacrifice rate for atheists is the same as theists, as is temptation. Sins are viewed differently, in that we also consider certain acts as bad, but on the human level and for the sake of personal morality, not from threat or promise from a deity.
Question: What is an aesthetic point of view of a literary work? How should i respond to a question asking for the aesthetic point of view of a literary work such as poetry?
Answer: look at the techniques and conventions used (or subverted) in the work. in poetry you'd be looking at description (adjectives, metaphors, similies, sonorous words, imagery, etc) and rhythm/rhyme (is there a regular pattern? does it deviate? does the pace of the poem emphasise a particular word or phrase?).
ask yourself how these make the poem effective, or how they contribute to the meaning of the poem.

Question: What is a statement of aesthetic philosophy? I have to write a self assesment essay and they want a Statement of aesthetic philosphy? What is it? are there any examples?
Answer: Aesthetic philosophy is basically the contemplation of that humans persive as beautiful.
I read a really great book by Tolstoy about it. Not only does he talk about his own philosophy of beauty, but he also spends a great deal of time discussing the theories of other people throughout history. He even gives exerts from other works. It would be a great resource for your essay. I've included a site with passages from the book and some other useful resorces.
Question: Can you give me some good aesthetic words to describe a piece of art work? I have to take a practical experience like looking at a Painting and give it an Aesthetic experience to it. Please help!!!!
Answer: "Judgments of aesthetic value clearly rely on our ability to discriminate at a sensory level. Aesthetics examines what makes something beautiful, sublime, disgusting, fun, cute, silly, entertaining, pretentious, discordant, harmonious, boring, humorous, or tragic." (wikipedia)
Pretty much it's being able to describing, instead of what something looks like, what makes it that way.... ie: The painting of the rose is beautiful. The shadows cast between each petal give it a sense of mystery. As well as the elongated shadow cast across the ground give it a feeling of foreboding, like there's something tragic about it.
Does that help?
Question: Is the gender/hormonal barrier one of the big aesthetic erotic gifts a heterosexual boy can have? Because of the strict segregation laws against boys and girls being naked together, therefore giving boys an absolutely ecstatic amusement and erotic ecstasy being in the girls locker room with rebellious wild girls naked and perhaps the girls caressing their naked bodies against theirs plunging them into an erotic euphoria so profound words can never begin to describe it. So in this sense is being a heterosexual boy one of the greatest aesthetic/erotic gifts a person can have?
Answer: i doubt because this never happens in a locker room. and event so, that is a very different way of looking at it.

Question: What exactly is an aesthetic appearance? For a project : 'Will the aesthetic appearance of your rocket help with the flight distance? Explain your answer in detail'
(we are making a small model rocket)
Answer: Its physical beauty, that which is completely detached from its function. Its like you have the choice between painting a smiley face on your rocket, or nothing. As long as the paint is flush to the body, and there is negligible mass, it has no effect on performance.

Question: hi, just want to ask about what is the meaning of feature walls?function?is it for the sake of a aesthetic? the function of feature walls? what are the elements to be recognised?
for example office lobby - is it just for aesthetic value? or for the first impression for the whole office image?and another example for residential - is it to create the focal point or enhance the ambiance of the interior space especially for the user of the space..pls advise me..thank you .really appreciate.
Answer: Well, feature walls, whether in residential or commercial spaces have basically the same meanting. They are basically used a lot in commercial design and they work well, they create focal points in workspaces which could often be dreary, they designate areas for the public and staff and they are fun. You expect drama and movement in these areas.
In days gone by, most feature walls were painted a different color, to accent the wall. Nowadays, they are covered more and more in wallpaper, as wallpaper is making a big comeback. They are also often textured.
Mainly, a feature wall is a focal point of a room and can be a wall that is there for a reason (like separating a room) or just there as a focal point (such as a wall built behind a reception desk).
Hope this helps.
Question: We recently bought a newly renovated house then aesthetic problems starting to show up on ceilings & flooding? We recently bought a newly renovated house then aesthetic problems starting to show up on ceilings & flooding on the backyard. Of course the house inspector never had the chance to check the yard if its flooding until it flooded. Is this the seller's responsibility? Who do I need to contact if the seller is dodging my calls.
Answer: What did the seller's disclosure say? When you had the survey they should have disclosed the type of flood zone in which the house is located and for sure the insurance company would ask for that information. Did you use a real estate company to represent you when you made the purchase?
If you used a buyer's agent then contact that agent or his broker and explain what is happening. The aesthetic problems are usually superficial but the flooding could be serious. The flooding should have been disclosed unless this was a foreclosure and the disclosure was not provided.
Ultimately you are responsible for superficial issues and have no recourse. If the survey showed the house to be in a flood zone then once again that fact was disclosed and you chose to go through with the purchase. You would have no recourse. Sorry.
Question: What is the Statue of David's aesthetic, political and cultural importance? What is the Statue of David's aesthetic, political and cultural importance?
Answer: if you are referring to michelangelo's david you have to remember that it was like 1501. there was a war going on at this time and the politics of florence was changing. this statue symbolized the little people and the fact that they could conquer the big bad guy. and unlike the prior statues of david, michelangelo was the first one to sculpt him the moment before he threw the stone. it was carved from an abandoned damaged piece of marble.
Question: Is there any benefit of getting nice rims on a car other than aesthetic value? I was talking to a friend and we got into a discussion about rims on car tires. We saw an SUV with huge rims and we both kind of asked each other if huge rims like that give an SUV any benefit other than the aesthetic value and making the car look cool.
So... is there any benefit to huge rims on a car other an aesthetic value and if so, what are they?
Answer: It depends on how big. Putting an 18" wheel on a mustang shortens the sidewall of the tire but not so far that it kills ride quality. This helps improve handling and sharpness. Put some 22" wheels on SUV's, they increase stopping distances, reduce the load capacity, increase chances of a tire blowout, ruin the ride quality and generally make a big SUV into generally a rolling death machine. This is why I advocate making wheels over a certain size illegal.
Question: Looking for books to match an aesthetic? I'm looking for books that have a similar written aesthetic to the visual one expressed in the video to My Chemical Romance's "Welcome to the Black Parade." Maybe some of you guys can help me: Something a little gothic, a little overwraught, a little unwholesome and gritty but, ultimately, quite beautiful. If anyone can help me with this, that would be great.
Thanks.
Answer: There are many Anne Rice books like this. Check out The Vampire books, especially "Interview With the Vampire," "The Vampire Lestat." and "The Vampire Armand."
Question: What are some aesthetic places in New Zealand? I'm doing an assignment on places in NZ and i need to find 8 different places that are significant for different reasons. For exmaple: for strategic purposes i am doing North Head in Devenport. I was thinking of doing the sand dunes near 90 mile beach for Aesthetic. Are there any other places in NZ i could research on that has greater Aesthetic significance than sand dunes? I really need help on this seeing as I don't come from NZ and don't know it as well as my class mates! HELP!...
Answer: Having travelled through NZ at least three times for months at a stretch, here's my short list of the most significant places, for various reasons:
1. Doubtful Sound, South Island - for its history, beauty and purity.
2. Franz Josef Glacier, South Island - lasts all year round, and the ice is a pure blue.
3. Rotorua - a town situated on an active thermal site. Smelly, but quite unique.
4. The Milford Track, a hiking trail through Fiordland National Park. So popular that hikers compete to be one of the 40 hikers permitted per day.
5. Kaikoura, where the whales swim just off the coast.
6. The Otira Tunnel, the TranzAlpine Express - a tunnel so long that the engine must be reversed to PUSH the train through the tunnel to help prevent asphyxiation. Train buffs go crazy for the Tranz Alpine's engineering feats.
7. the caves of Waitomo - enormous underground caverns, some filled with glow worms.
